The last 20 minutes this sudden very strong cramping came on out of nowhere and it hurts really bad it would be the same to a period. Pain doesn’t seem to be going away it’s very strong it’s not helping or easing when I change position anyone else ever had this or know what it could be??

Labour? Call your midwife and ask for advice

Lou98 · 03/04/2021 00:21

Sorry I've not got any advice as I'm only 32 weeks but I would say definitely give maternity assessment a call, I'm sure everything is fine so don't worry but you're better safe than sorry and getting checked out

JaquiMcquacky · 03/04/2021 00:21

Yea defo talk to your labour ward. Get checked over if you’re worried, trust your instincts x

Ds is in bed and can’t get to unit cause of time I’m not sure what to do or if it’s labour yet but the pain is very similar to period pain and very painful at the moment

Ring the labour ward!

Greenmarmalade · 03/04/2021 00:23

Call now. Get whoever needs to come to look after DS to come over too.

Sycamoretrees · 03/04/2021 00:23

Do you have a child care plan for when you do go into labour? If so, now would be a good time to activate it, and seek medical advice.

Get your bags ready too in case. Charge your phone, get water and snacks.

StillMedusa · 03/04/2021 00:24

Ring the labour ward and get your child care person in case! At the least you need a check over!

Kerry00 · 03/04/2021 00:25

Yes but I didn’t think anything would happen this soon as I’m only 35 weeks, the pain just came on me and hasn’t left I was wondering if anyone knew what it could be we didn’t think of it being labour so soon

You need to call in.

How does it compare to your last labour?

Lou98 · 03/04/2021 00:26

@Kerry00 I would definitely still phone even just for advice, they will want you to go in to be assessed though. Do you not have anyone that could come sit with DS while you go? What if you are in labour?

Kerry00 · 03/04/2021 00:26

It doesn’t come and go it’s just staying I get 20 second ease and it’s back that’s it

Get on the phone now.

My second cane at 32 weeks I just made it in time for a c section (she was breech). I thought it was a UTI at the time. And I had more let up than you describe.

That was labour for me

Sycamoretrees · 03/04/2021 00:32

Sounds like it could well be the start of your labour, and at 35 weeks best to get medical advice / go in to be assessed, rather than risking an unplanned home birth.

Millie2008 · 03/04/2021 00:33

Hey love, try and stay calm. But definitely give your maternity unit a ring to explain what's happening. Do you have a partner? If so, ask them to give whoever's going to look after your DC a ring as well.
How long have the pains been going on for now?

InglouriousBasterd · 03/04/2021 00:34

That was my labour! She was back to back so I never really got a break. I’d call labour ward.

RickiTarr · 03/04/2021 00:35

One of my labours was like that.

Don’t try to sit it out. Get advice and be ready to call in your babysitters.

user64332 · 03/04/2021 00:37

Yeah I wouldn't leave it. My labours felt like strong period pain. I don't want to alarm you but I'd hate for you to put it off and it's appendicitis or pre-eclampsia or a UTI that triggers early labour. Or worst case scenario, placental abruption.

Quit4me · 03/04/2021 00:37

Could easily be Brady on hicks as that comes on about now quite strongly for some people. Best to get it checked though.
I had it twice once at 32 weeks and once at 35 weeks. Went to hospital both times as was having breech twins. Neither time was actual labour though just body getting ready and the lain went after a few hours. Was really strong- I would say the strength of 5 or 6 cm dialated from previous experience
