Just that really Grin
If you're having toast, what's your topping/spread of choice?
Bit bored of butter and jam, I need inspiration for my week day mornings this week!

I love marmalade on toast.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 28/03/2021 11:21

I had smoked salmon and gherkin slices. It was really good. Usually I make a load of roasted aubergines, peppers and courgettes and have those on toast with hummus or salmon for breakfast or lunch.

Houmous on toast is a yes from me. I can't help but eat it on bread, or toast, whenever it's in the fridge. And my DH hates it 😂 what is it with men and houmous!?

I have never had tahini but feel inclined to try now.

Also I did not know about the issue with avocados, made me think twice

Lashings of butter and Gentleman's Relish.

Crunchy peanut butter

I have potted meat on mine but I realise many will find that weird/unpalatable. Pate would be the socially acceptable Mumsnet version.

Or cheese, scrambled egg, beans with or without spam bacon or tomatoes, olive oil, garlic and salt.

I obviously like to think I'm all cosmopolitan European, but the pull of the Yorkshire miner's daughter is clearly too strong.

@Ahbahbahbah Your egg in fried bread sounds good. How do you ensure the bread isn’t burned by the time the egg is cooked?

Ahbahbahbah · 28/03/2021 11:54

@SomethingNastyInTheBallPool - I put a mix of oil and melted butter in the pan, get it quite hot before I put the bread in and the egg cooks quite quickly. Cook for 2 mins then flip and cook till bread is nice and golden, The egg does come out soft though. Remember to fry the hole you cut out from the middle and you can use that to mop up the nice runny yolk :)

Just had Rose's lime marmalade 😍

UCOinaUCG · 28/03/2021 12:12

I had toast for breakfast yesterday and had pate on it. DH thought it was weird but it was lovely.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 28/03/2021 12:32

@Ahbahbahbah Thank you! I’m going to give that a try, just as soon as I get a peaceful breakfast time to myself.

ScarlettDarling · 28/03/2021 12:32

I love potted meat too, don't tell anyone Wink and pate and anything of the sorts! I don't want to think about what's in it, it just tastes so good

Nothing is as good as marmite and butter. I mix it up by sometimes having hot toast, sometimes cold. They taste completely different 🤣(must be left to cool before buttering though rather than toast made hot that’s gone cold)

Lucent · 28/03/2021 13:03

Hummus, or avocado crushed up with feta, olive oil, a chilli or two, salt and pepper.

GreenSlide · 28/03/2021 15:37

Just me on the nutella then Blush

Bookworm19 · 28/03/2021 15:40

Yesterday, I had toast with eggs and bacon
This morning I had a slice of toast with rhubarb and ginger jam (alongside muesli, fruit and yoghurt)
