Period pants

Sorry if this has been done to death. I'm falling out of love with my mooncup which I have used for about 15 years now with varying degrees of success. Do you have any recommendations for period pants? I've looked at Modi-bodi and it seems like a really expensive option.

Any others that people recommend?

Thanks!

I bought some WUKA last month and they were great!!

NannyR · 24/03/2021 13:17

I've been using the cheeky pants ones for the last few months and think they are brilliant, but I haven't tried any other brands to compare them to. I went for the cheeky pants as they were a lot cheaper than the modibodi ones.

Thethingswedoforlove · 24/03/2021 13:20

Modibodi are really good though. No leaks. No smells. Last for hours and hours. Wash well. My understanding is that with most others you need a pad or some other means to absorb the flow. I have no connection with them by the way. Just two teenage daughters who use them exclusively- at night, at school etc

I also like the cheeky wipes ones - great choice and they often have some kind of offer on them. I’ve not had any issues with leaks or smells.

I am two periods into using Modibodi and am really pleased.

I am perimenopausal and my periods are becoming irregular, both in frequency and flow.

I wear a pair overnight when I hit 28 days and know that I won't be caught out.

APurpleSquirrel · 24/03/2021 13:54

I've tried both Modibodi & Sainsbury's Luna.
The MB ones I've had for about two years; they're the smooth no vpl ones. They were great to start with but have had some leaks (heavy flow/flooding) & no the seams are lifting where the glue has perished. Would be interested to try their cotton ones as an alternative.
The Luna ones started off great - no leaks for first couple of wears but now I do get leaks on heavier days if I don't also wear a pad which kind of defeats the purpose. They are more comfortable than the MB ones I have though & are cotton based.
I've also got an Honour Thy Flow reusable pad which is pretty good but very thick in comparison to normal thin pads so tend to only wear that on days I'm not leaving the house!
Tbh I haven't found the right ones for me yet - but will persevere & might try M&S or the cotton MB ones next.

toddlingthroughtoddlerhood · 24/03/2021 14:01

As others have said, cheeky wipes period pants are great - the cotton ones as opposed to the lace topped as the elastic in the lace on the original pairs has gone in the pairs I have had and used for 2 years. Never any leaks for me.

toddlingthroughtoddlerhood · 24/03/2021 14:02

These are the best of the cheeky ones (in my option as a user for 2+ years) www.cheekywipes.com/low-rise-period-pants/feeling-sporty-low-rise-period-pants-with-4-layer-absorbency.html

I bought some Wuka ones from Superdrug recently, as they were doing a BOGOF on all sanitary wear and the pants were included. Like you, I'd been looking into trying some but was slightly put off by the price. I haven't tried them yet (I'm actually looking forward to my period this month to give them a go!) but thought I'd mention it in case you have Superdrug points to use, or they do an offer again.

minniemoocher · 24/03/2021 14:12

My modibodi ones are great if expensive. I paid just under £100 2 years ago and they are still in great condition. They are doing double duty as I have issues when running etc with incontinence so plenty washes still so absorbent they last all day for me. I know they are more expensive than cheap supermarket towels but I figured it was a way I could help the environment

Whatwouldscullydo · 24/03/2021 14:13

I have a couple of pairs of cheeky wipe pants. They do what it is I wanted from them ( cup back up) but tbh I found them very plasticy. They are PUL lined I think so they rustle.

I have wuka. Very soft. But a bit boring I guess as far as design goes . Nine are just big standard black granny pants. However they are comfy, soft and I've been impressed so far.

I have modi bodi too. Definitely the thinist, and you can choose the style which is nice.

I have only used the pants either for cup back up, or on lighter days/nights. They have all worked perfectly for that.

I do find they are quite "wide " so using a pad with them, totally depends on whether whether pad is wide enough to fit properly. Although I'm.a.size 16 so if you are smaller then you may not have that problem.

Maryann1975 · 24/03/2021 14:19

I love mine! I’ve got floweret ones and dd has cheeky wipe ones. I am confident enough to wear them with no pads, but dd prefers to still wear a pad And use the pants as an extra layer of protection (she was caught out over night with a leak, I’m not sure if her flow was too heavy For the pants to cope with maybe?)
First 2 or 3 days I have to change them early afternoon, so get through three pairs in 24 hours and the other Days just two pairs. I Always work from home, so it’s no problem to change, if I worked out of the home or a student (like dd) and not wanting to carry a pair of dirty pants round with me, I’d be wearing a pad first thing and then at lunch time removing the pad and using the pants, but it’s all personal preference and what works for you.

I do love them though! Mine are so comfy I do consider wearing them everyday regardless of the time of the month.

youremyperson · 24/03/2021 14:30

Modibodi for sure. I use the extra heavy overnight 24 hour ones but I change them a lot more than 24 hours! So far no leaks and this is from someone who's periods required 3 x packets of night pads per period, probably 40 pads, 2 at a time abs would still leak! They're a fixing game changer! Also if you're a blue light card holder you get 20% off

BoomBoomsCousin · 24/03/2021 14:52

I have tried Thinx and don’t recommend them. They don’t hold as much as they claim and they start to fall apart and become more leaky more after a few washes. .

passengers · 24/03/2021 14:56

I use wuka. ...yes they are expensive but actually I have been using them for years and they have probably paid for themselves. .so comfortable too.

dotdashdashdash · 24/03/2021 15:00

Can someone answer me this re period pants - is the elastic on the groin really tight? I hate tight pants.

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 24/03/2021 15:02

Modibodi have been excellent for me but I don’t have a particularly heavy flow. An investment, yes, but worth it for me.

passengers · 24/03/2021 15:03

@dotdashdashdash. mine are not..They are the most comfortable pants I have ever owned.

MarzipanMadness · 24/03/2021 15:08

I have the floweret ones, and so does dd. They are very good and I highly recommend them, although they are cut quite small so you may need to size up. They often do half price or two for one offers which are worth waiting for.

I also gave the cheeky wipes ones, which are much more plasticky and the elastic on the lace top is pretty trashed.

Thethingswedoforlove · 24/03/2021 16:27

Modibodi come up small too

Seriouslymole · 24/03/2021 17:04

Thanks everyone - I'll have a look. Much appreciated.

That's not my experience at all.

No. That would be really uncomfortable.
Vthirtyone · 24/03/2021 21:27

My daughter has been using Wuka for a few months and loves them. We couldn't believe how well they worked and she also finds them really comfy. I don't have periods (coil)

girlofnow · 24/03/2021 21:40

Modibodi are great. I do have leaks overnight though on occasion but I have very heavy periods after my second baby and it's still a lot better than having to change a tampon three times in the night. Plus unused to get horrendous period park with tampons and don't get any now.
