I can't think of anywhere I actually want to live!

In a year and a bit's time we're going to be looking to move house and for the first time in almost 20 years, we get to decide where we want to live!
The problem is, I have no idea where I want to settle down...
We'll have two teenage children, I'd like to live in Yorkshire, no more than an hours drive from the North East coast, not too far away from a city but other than that... no idea!
Help me out, oh wise ones... where in Yorkshire would you move to?

Glad to see the love for Malton! We currently live in York but I'm trying to persuade my husband we need to move to Malton so we are that much closer to the coast.

Beverley is nice as suggested. Ditto Ripon, Richmond and Thirsk. I'm not so keen on Harrogate - Knaresborough is much nicer to me.

Newcastle though is an amazing city. I'd move close by in a heartbeat.

York, or just outside in one of the villages

Just been watching a programme with Kate Humble. She explore the East Yorkshire Coast. I've spent lots of time over that way (I'm NW England) on holiday. Runswick Bay, and most places immediately north and south of there.

@AhCheeses After this last year, if I ever have such an urge I'm going to listen to it and do it!

Malton really is lovely but get in the right catchment for secondary schools. There's not as much love for Norton College but Malton seems well liked. But some families try and get into Ryedale school (closer to Helmsley) or Lady Lumleys at Pickering.

All have very different feels so it depends what you want / how old your teens are etc.
