Oh, or mozzarella, tomato & avocado salad for lunch.

Tell me everything about your pizza base! Can I use gluten free flour (I have a wheat intolerance)?[/quote]
Yes you can!

I use 150g yoghurt to 80g flour and part bake it for 10 minutes before adding the toppings.

Fiorentina with spinach, olives and an egg is my favourite topping, or prosciutto with mushrooms and artichokes. I also use Eatlean protein cheese.

Yes what is skinny bread please

Murtaghjames · 12/03/2021 06:39

Oh it's a nickname myself and DH use for the sliced bread thst is only 58kcal per slice.

Ineedideas · 12/03/2021 06:59

I like kebabs for dinner made with either marinated chicken chunks or 5% fat beef meatballs and then threaded onto skewers with lots of red onion, mushroom and peppers. Served on a big pile of salad. I guess you could substitute any nice flavoured meat or fish.

Also crispy roasted chickpeas to add flavour and bulk out normal salad, keeps me fuller for longer.

MsTSwift · 12/03/2021 07:02

I didn’t change what I ate just when I ate and less of it!

Fast from dinner to lunch the next day
Minimise snacking
Meals on smaller plates.

Lost the 2 stone I needed to and 18 months later maintaining.

zzizzer · 12/03/2021 07:11

I cut out sugar, salt, processed foods, bread and pasta (which combined accounted for 99.9% of my diet), and switched to any combination of whole foods - eggs, fish, fruit, vegetables.

The difference has been amazing and not just in weight loss but in terms of health - I have so much more energy, no IBS, the list goes on and on...

absolutetelynotfabulous · 12/03/2021 07:29

No Crusts bread and marmite.
Salmon and vegetable stir fry, flavoured with chilli and some peanuts if I'm feeling generous.
Muller Light yoghurt.
I used to adore Liberte yoghurt as it's very rich and low in calories but I can't seem to get it any more.
Coop Lentil and bacon soup. Filling and low in calories.
Melon. Filling and refreshing.

I should be more creative with salads. On the whole, I go for food I which has a set number of calories, so end up eating lots of prepared salads and sushi.

I try to have snacks to hand of around 100 calories each.

yearinyearout · 12/03/2021 07:33

I used cauliflower rice a lot...I would make my own rather than buy the packet stuff. Shred it in the food processor then almost dry fry it (would add maybe a table spoon of water to the pan to stop it sticking) with some cumin and salt. I'd have it with homemade veg curry, or chicken and veg chilli, minced turkey chilli etc

ChewedClickyPen · 12/03/2021 07:42

I am tempted to try the pizza base at lunchtime now. I have yogurt that needs using up.

ThighsofSteel · 12/03/2021 07:45

I didn't have diet meals.

I ate well, real food and exactly what I fancied at meal times, but I didn't snack (which naturally cuts out a lot of the junk). Coupled with daily exercise, it made a huge difference and the weight came off easily, despite being in my 50s.

KateKeeper · 12/03/2021 07:49

Same as @grassisjeweled

lurkingfromhome · 12/03/2021 08:16

Yep, I just ate what I'd always eaten in terms of meals (nothing diety, all proper home-cooked food, plenty fruit & veg, no ready meals) BUT:

  • no (or very minimal) snacking
  • smaller portions
  • let myself get hungry before meals (I realise that before I'd been grazing all the time and didn't know what it felt like to be truly hungry before a meal)
  • if I could have a dinner without accompanying potatoes, bread, pasta etc then I did (eg roast beef and veg only, soup without bread).
UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 12/03/2021 08:56

I eat either breakfast or lunch, not both. It'll be eggs of some sort for brekkie or soup for lunch, so about 300 calories. Though today I had a hot cross bun at 250 calories.

Dinner is a smaller portion of whatever everyone else is having, but with no carbs and extra veg.

I'll generally snack on fruit or a raw carrot at some stage as well. And about twice a week I'll have a square of chocolate (and not dark chocolate - proper crappy, sugary milk stuff).

absolutetelynotfabulous · 12/03/2021 09:15

I wish I could stick to one square of chocolate. Instead I go full on with a daily creme egg. I know it's crap.

I don't eat breakfast - ever. The rest of the time I count calories. I don't cut out food groups. I exercise to "earn" calories. So if I walk for 3 hours I have something extra.

Losing weight and keeping it off is hard enough without trying to be a Saint.

Another *go to" food is fish fingers. I don't have spuds or rice with them though. Just peas or sweetcorn. 50 calories each. Can't go wrong.

PurpleDaisies · 12/03/2021 09:22

I wish I could stick to one square of chocolate.

I’m the same-I’d much rather have one full bar once a week than a small piece every day.

FuckyouCovid21 · 12/03/2021 09:47

I've lost 10 stone over the last couple of years and haven't really changed my meals that much as they were always relatively healthy, it was the portion sizes and all the shite in between that put the weight on.

This weeks main meals

Spaghetti Bolognese made from scratch with lean beef mince, loads of veggies in the sauce and wholewheat spaghetti

Cod wrapped in parma ham with roasted vegetables topped with a parmesan/parsley crust

Cottage pie with lean beef mince, loads of veggies, topped with mash and cheese

Chicken with homemade mushroom sauce, mini roasties and green beans

Tonight is chicken fajitas

I tend to split my plate into quarter protein, quarter carbs and half veg

FluffyBlueJumper · 12/03/2021 11:25

I am nearly 7st lighter than my heaviest weight.

No breakfast (black coffee).
Lunch is a huge salad without dressing (I season it with salt and a little vinegar) and a protein (usually ham).
Dinner is either grilled meat with vegetables, or some variation of stew / meat in sauce served with zero noodles or cauliflower rice.

This was not a quick fix. I intend to keep eating like this for the rest of my life, adding a treat a couple of times a week.

One of my favorite dishes is roasted cauliflower served with grilled bits of bacon and a little melted cheese. I deglaze the pan where the bacon has cooked with white wine, garlic and a tablespoon of cream.

MsTSwift · 12/03/2021 11:31

Wow respect to those big losses!

Yes I eat in a similar way. No food until an early lunch. Nice healthy food just less of it. Still have snacks but fewer and smaller. Haven’t lost weight for ages but maintaining bmi 21 so happy with that.

Lyricallie · 12/03/2021 11:44

I've really been enjoying satay tofu using PB2, I basically adapted a pinch of nom recipe for chicken satay for tofu. I've lost almost 20lb since January so I'm pleased. Otherwise it's coffee in the morning and usually some noodles or pasta with hummus for lunch. I love carbs I can't give them up, so I just have less.

I am actually enjoying the Tesco calorie controlled ready meals. The risotto one is really good. I just add some extra mushrooms to bulk it out. Which is like 5 kcal lol. Expensive though.

lightand · 12/03/2021 11:56

Ooh, good thread idea.
I'm just following too!

RiverSkater · 12/03/2021 11:59

Have you tried zero noodles and zero rice, you have your regular meals and replace the carb with them, or courgettini as well. Not for everyday but when you fancy a nice curry, it worked well for me.

OhioOhioOhio · 12/03/2021 12:04

A handful of nuts to replace a meal when I'd over eaten the day before.

Loopyloututu2 · 12/03/2021 12:10

I have a Waitrose tuna Niçoise salad for lunch practically every day!

I do a Nando’s takeaway for dinner once a week which is just chicken tenderised and marinated in Nando’s sauce, salad with reduced fat coleslaw, corn on the cobs (which I blacken in a pan) and piri piri rice. I also do chips with Nando’s peri salt for the dc’s. They love it and it’s healthy.
