No they were never friends. Piers and Meghan literally met once.
Posters on another forum dug up old tweets Piers sent to and about Meghan including him tweeting to her to say how badly he wanted to meet her, a tweet Piers sent the day of their first and only meeting saying he was happy he finally got to meet her, and regretting that she wasn't able to join him at Scarsdale Tavern. In his old tweets to her it's clear he asked her to go to Scarsdale Tavern and she said no or made up some excuse and he was sad that she'd said no. All this is in his old tweets.
Pp think if a story has loads of details it means it can't be a lie but liars always throw lots of extraneous detail in to sound plausible. Ask why did Piers go into so much detail even down to naming the individual drinks they both consumed, of a one-off event that happened 5 years ago? Who even remembers a one-off meeting from 5 years ago in that much detail? He's making up details to make his story sound plausible.
