Guess how old I am from the dolls house furniture (!)

Anyone want to furnish a rather retro dolls house.... ? I particularly love that the food that came with the fridge was two uncooked joints of meat (one piece definitely some rolled brisket for a pot roast, other I'm not entirely sure) Grin

DD's bedroom used to look like an outpost of the Sylvanian Family shop. She and I still flatten our faces against the glass and squeal when we see a toy shop with a good Sylvanian window display.

Rumer Godden was another marvellous dolls house story writer. The Dolls House (also published as Tottie) is a wonderful children's novel. But so harrowing!

I had the same ones! They are 1970s "Caroline's Home".

My DGF built a replica of my DGPs house with working electrical lights for me. MY DM still has it. It had a pink bathroom suite with blue tiled walls and garish seventies wallpaper.

My DGPs house was rather more tastefully decorated.

We’ve got the exact same sofa and chairs, OP, that came with the Tri-ang Stockbroker Tudor house that was bought second-hand for my sister & came down to me. I think that particular set might be older than you!

Scrub that, that suite is Lundby Barton from the ‘70s. I must have added it to the house with my pocket money (a year younger than you, OP Wink )

In the mid 70s my mum made me a doll's house from a cardboard box, and all the furniture in it following instructions from Blue Peter. I thought it was the most amazing thing I had ever seen. It was wallpapered inside and had a postcard for a window!

Glad to have given you all a few moments of nostalgia :)

My dd was massively into playmobil, and while we did pass some on I've got a nice collection tucked away in the loft 'just in case'

I had a dolls house my nan's friend made. The front came down and the roof lifted off. I played with my Cindy dolls in it.

All I really remember is that the walls had real paisley wallpaper on them, and that Cindy had big feet!

Our Playmobil is used all the time - for the last almost a year I've been creating a Playmobil pandemic. I add to it every few days or so when I have time. Smile

My older sister had a dolls' house, but I never had one of my own, so am loving using the Playmo houses!

Scr1bblyGum · 08/03/2021 19:57

I had that set!!!! Your pic brought back memories. I’m 52.Smile Had forgotten the brisket. It had a hostess trolley with wobbly wheels too.

Sportsnight · 08/03/2021 19:59

I had those red chairs too!

SoMuchToBits · 08/03/2021 20:00

Oh hostess trolleys were such thing of the 60s/70s weren't they? Grin Although we never had one.

CaptainMyCaptain · 08/03/2021 20:02

I'm 66. My dad made me a 60s style doll's house and it had a beautiful 60s style kitchen unit and table with cutlery in a drawer. I think it got left in a loft after a house move. I still have some of rhw furniture but no house.

Notaroadrunner · 08/03/2021 20:03

I had a lundby house in the early 80's and the furniture is only slightly more modern than yours. I adored it. I still have it and my daughter played with it for a few years alongside her sylvanians. She has it all boxed up now for when/if she has kids. I love the pictures on this thread. I used to love looking through dolls house magazines as a child to see all the fabulous furniture and dream of owning it all. Thanks for the memories ☺️

@SoMuchToBits

My uncle and aunt had orange kitchen cupboards in the 70s.
We had those orange press doors too. Stylish!
SoMuchToBits · 08/03/2021 20:12

Grin Everything was orange and brown in those days. Although my uncle and aunt also had an avocado bathroom suite!

Ashard20 · 08/03/2021 20:15

I had all those items...57?

Scr1bblyGum · 08/03/2021 20:20

I had a tri -ang dolls house with a red plastic roof. Dolls house dolls had bandy legs. I always wanted a Victorian house.
