Bloody hell, I miss going on holiday.

I miss holidays. I love wandering the little streets of Spanish towns and finding those quirky little local tapas restaurants. Or an evening at the local market, with live music, amazing local produce to stuff my face with, freshly made mojitos from the drinks stall, children playing and families meeting up and laughing and chattering. I even miss my terrible Spanglish, trying to converse with stall holders Grin

I my mind I’m in Kefalonia, I’ve spent the morning swimming in the pool and reading on a sun lounger. We’re now debating which gorgeous taverna to stroll to for lunch. I’ll have one of their massive tuna salads which could easily feed two, with a little carafe of cold local wine whilst watching the boats coming in and out of the harbour. The bill will be the equivalent of about £7 Shock.

Oh I’ve upset myself now ... let’s hope all these dreams of ours can come true this year 🤞

I love this thread. We WILL get back there, people! Just hang in there. It will happen! And think how much we’ll appreciate it.

Today I am in New York, I've just woken up in a lovely hotel room (Fantasy Holiday Lola can afford a really fabulous large room!) we're just getting dressed and feeling really excited about our day ahead. I think we will go for breakfast in the little deli we found on our first trip, it has magically reopened just for us, the lady who works there is all smiley and we get the lovely welcome and she asks us what we're doing today. She has lived in New York her entire life, but she's still so excited by it!
I think today, we will go to Woodbury Common (In Lola land it's around 2007, $2 for £) and we will find some amazing bargains.
Stop for lunch, stop for cocktails one of those days where the hours just slip by in a daze of fun!
We will go back to our Hotel, do foot packs and relax for a couple of hours before going out for the evening.
Think we will go to the BBQ place for dinner on times square, wander back to our hotel all content and happy, ahead of tomorrow's adventure.

(Back to real-life Lola... it's work time boo)

I’m so jealous! I really like New York!

Lola001 · 09/03/2021 08:37

@Liquorishtoffee
Where are you today?!

Liquorishtoffee · 09/03/2021 08:40

London. The sun is up and there’s a clear, cloudless sky... It looks quite nice outside (a bit nippy probably.

Hmmm in fantasy-holiday-land I think today I am going to be in Naples. Pizza time ! And a boat trip. And going to see Pompeii and Vesuvius. It is warm and sunny! I’m drinking a coffee on the balcony of my hotel looking down into a little square as the cafes put out their chairs for the day under the trees.

elp30 · 09/03/2021 09:29

I don't have to imagine being in a hot climate, enjoying the sun on a balcony with a book and a coffee because I live in Texas. Today, it will be 78F/26C.

I am currently wishing I was in Greater Manchester visiting my in-laws. I haven't seen them since 2015 and my family were meant to have seen them in 2020.

Who would have thought I'd miss drizzling and cold weather, drinking endless cups of tea with UHT milk (ugh) that my MIL makes while I catch up on gossip, listen to my FIL talk about the "immersion" and eating fish and chips for "tea".

That would be bliss right now.

We’ve been having online meetings with people in America, UK, Netherlands, SA and Asia. It’s funny to see some people bundled up in woolly jumpers and others in T-shirt’s!

Lola001 · 09/03/2021 09:47

@elp30 I know from previous experience this, I live in England now but I missed Mum tea as I call it so much when I was abroad. Its an odd feeling isn't it.

Gerla · 09/03/2021 09:52

I am in Italy and have a balcony. Today from my balcony I can see some men mending a hole in the road. Grin I really want to see the sea or the mountains! We are not allowed to go beyond the city limits. I am nowhere near the sea or the mountains. Sad

Echobelly · 09/03/2021 12:51

Really looking forward to it @NotExactlyHappyToHelp - looks like there's so much to see!
