I'm just having my cuppa in peace (ish - there's a box of crickets, that the girls' dad thought the mantis could have, chirping away to itself. The mantis can't have them & I'm not entirely sure what to do with them Confused ).

I'm off up to get dressed and wake the girls at 9. We're going to walk to Home Bargains for some of the bits for dd2's packed lunches. It won't take me long to nip in for what we need so they'll wait outside for me.

Depending on the time, I might order us each a McDonald's burger to collect for the walk home.

When we get in, I'll work out what to do with the crickets & iron dd1's school shirts. & we'll get together dd2's art work from the past couple of months to go on the "art gallery" wall her class TA has been working on putting together.

Other than that, I don't think either of them wanted to do anything much so I should be able to get on with some of my crochet project.

What about all of you? :)

Nights last night so just up. DH is afternoons and I've got the house and 3 dogs to myself. I might move off the sofa to put washing on and make tea but that's the full total of today's activities.
Bloody lush!

KateF · 06/03/2021 14:05

Had a lie in til9 after a very busy week at work. Done a load of laundry and hung out and put my old sitting room curtains in to wash. About to go shopping for myself and elderly neighbour so will pick up something nice for dinner. Then I'll take the dog to the park, come back for a cup of tea and start preparing activities for next week (nursery).

lucysmam · 06/03/2021 14:36

Town took longer than expected; I'm just sitting down with a cup of tea now.

Both girls, as predicted, have vanished upstairs complaining they're tired 🤣🙄

So, I'm going to order fly castors for the mantis, order some soft grip crochet hooks, have a browse for some Easter bits, and get some of my current wip done.

(I've still got no idea wtaf to do with the crickets though 🤷‍♀️)

You have to come back & tell us @lucysmam 😀

@PermanentTemporary I hope you get through the day, and manage to sit & rest a bit this evening 😘

@Fizzgigg Noooo! 🙏🏻 it's negative.

Shopping & random chores done, I'm hiding in the car with the paper & a coffee before starting on grocery unpacking & then it'll nearly be time to cook dinner (in Ireland, UK folk this is 'tea' 😂 I've learnt from MN). The day just vanishes on Saturdays 🤷🏻‍♀️

peaceanddove · 06/03/2021 15:46

Thanks to DH's snoring last night I woke up sooooo tired. But onwards & upwards because it's DD's 18th tomorrow and there's stuff to do! So necked 2 coffees and had a very hot shower to get me going. Drove to collect lots of parcels that had been delivered, then called to pick up a Bonsai tree for DD that I'd ordered.

Then onto M&S to pick up a Colin the Caterpillar cake and groceries for the weekend. Finally back home now, and thinking about rustling up a chilli for dinner. Then there's an epic mammoth pressie wrapping session, though I've cheated a bit and bought loads of pretty gift bags.

Going to need a super early, early night though so I'm fresh for tomorrow. Really excited to see how DD reacts to all her surprises Smile

WeAllHaveWings · 06/03/2021 15:49

Very early start and not long back from doing the final clear out and clean of mums house before we hand over keys in 10 days. Back is killing me from lifting too much. Strange to think of another family living in her, our, home of 45 years.

Dh and ds now screaming at TV watching their footie team, 1-0 to us but apparently the other team are playing dirty and the ref is useless.

Once footie is over I will spend sometime listening to ds practice his French taking he needs to do for Monday.

Indian food delivery later tonight.

I have 3 big boxes of old old family photos and slides in the car waiting to be brought in, will probably go through them tonight with a few 🍸🍸🍸🍸

dementedma · 06/03/2021 15:57

Been doing the usual housework, laundry, shopping etc. Cleaned the kitchen windows and now the room noticeably brighter! Going to make leek, chicken and mushroom pie for dinner. Nobody else has lifted a bloody finger all day so dont k ow why I bother!!

Sgtmajormummy · 06/03/2021 16:01

We’ve just celebrated DD’s 15th birthday with her favourite lunch and a Sachertorte. She was pleased with the presents she got (mostly teenagers’ tat and money) and was a real sweetie, despite it being low key.
Her birthday party last year was one of the first things to be cancelled in Lockdown No.1 and her socially distanced ice creams with classmates was one of the last things they do together before they’re back to 100% online lessons again on Monday (Italy).

Now we’re each doing our own thing and will watch a film of her choice this evening.

Bringonthemushrooms · 06/03/2021 16:06

Housework this morning then the weekly food shop. Just back from a walk and it blew the cobwebs away got a bit of a headache so having a lie down before we order our takeaway for dh birthday. Ds is on his xbox and dh is playing his violin

jmh740 · 06/03/2021 16:09

Was waiting for a joiner to come but he's injured himself on his first job of the day, ive been shopping bought some paint for the fence panels and back gate and I've painted some of the fence, having snuggles with our puppy now, we haven't even had her for 2weeks yet but we all love her so much.

EarringsandLipstick · 06/03/2021 18:05

@WeAllHaveWings

That must feel v emotional ❤️

Hope you enjoy looking at the family photos - one of my absolute favourite things to do. I was looking just this morning of a photo I love, of my Grandma (who died at nearly 100 a few years ago) when she was at university in the late 1930s. It's taken on a summer's day around exam time & it's a group photo of her & friends, men & women, in great spirits, messing around on a tennis court.

I love it - they are all so young & happy. All would be dead by now.

I am emerging slowly from chemo woes, and had a better day. Did a wash and hung it out, it was so chilly, I didn't know if it was worth it, but when DP brought it in this afternoon it only needed airing. Ate a proper amount for lunch and drank a whole cup of tea later. Finished a difficult jigsaw puzzle with DP. Her lovely DS came to see us bringing a freshly baked loaf (we have had to make a bubble with him for support due to my illness) and I did an online choir thing. DP now getting supper and I think I will be able to eat it. Have also napped, and spent plenty of time on MN and reading the paper. DP has been investigating the mysteries of her new portal.

lucysmam · 06/03/2021 19:40

Bloodybridget that sounds like a nice, steady day. I hope you enjoy supper Thanks

I'm just sitting down to do the second row of my wip for the third time Confused. Hopefully this time it's right!

Bloodybridget · 06/03/2021 20:00

What's a wip??

Bloodybridget · 06/03/2021 20:01

Work in progress?

lucysmam · 06/03/2021 20:07

Yep, work in progress...it's not progressing very far though, I'm eating cake instead Grin

We've had a nice day of bumbling around. DC slept late as we had a late night last night. DD2 did Zoom dance lesson whilst DS1 did revision, DD2 was painting and DS2 played with Lego.
I spent the morning doing house jobs - mopping floors, hoovering, washing etc before making a delicious lunch (proper niscoise salad with random sauteed potatoes). This afternoon we went for a 2 hour walk with the dogs. Came home and did a workout with DD2 for her sport. Cleaned out the hamster. Made sausages and beans for dinner. Played cards and Yahtzee. Read books with the smaller two who are now in bed with lights off which is a miracle.
Currently sorting washing, drinking peppermint tea and half watching a film whilst scrolling Mumsnet. Been a bloody lovely day!

MrsBDarcy · 06/03/2021 20:19

Recovering from tooth extraction so a gentle day here - dog walks x 2 and farm shop for veg. Made soup and feeling quite sleepy on pain killers. Might have a little glass wine and go to bed

Significantown · 06/03/2021 20:22

Went to Brum today. Got dd some new shoes for school in M&S, visited park and bought some nice food for the week in Morrisons.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 06/03/2021 20:42

Up at 7am with DCs - well one was up at 6am but persuaded her to go back to bed - then making everyone breakfast, went to buy masonry paint for garden wall for when the temp goes up a bit, then tidied garden with 3yo twins "helping", then made everyone lunch, then did a dump run with garden waste, then came back and washed car with 6yo and 3yo twins helping, then went for a walk, then came back and made children's dinner, then bedtime, then ironed 5 lots of school uniform for next week.

Now, made the mistake of sitting down and too tired to get up! But have to clear away children's dinner and do a dishwasher load. DH out doing weekly shop.

We are both exhausted!!

Chimoia · 06/03/2021 21:14

I made pita breads for the first time, did a core workout met a friend for a walk, lazed around a lot and watched Moxie on Netflix. We had escapee crickets for a while after a tipping over accident when looking after a friends gecko.

PermanentTemporary · 06/03/2021 23:13

I end the day reading all these nice updates and am very tired but really pleased to have cleared and swept the shed, put back the things to keep, filled the car for the tip tomorrow, sorted out the pile for the attic and found good homes for 3 bits of DH's equipment I won't use. I also found a postcard of one of dh's pictures that I sold, which I'm really pleased about, I'm going to find a frame for it tomorrow. I never have to do that again.

EarringsandLipstick · 07/03/2021 08:09

Well done permanent you did amazingly - I hope it brought you a little peace 💐
