Which two days would you choose to go into the office?

So from September our office will be back 2 days a week and continue to wfh 3 days. Obviously you can go in more if you want but it’s a minimum of 2 days in the office.

My team are thinking of jointly deciding on our 2 days so that we don’t go in and find there’s no one else there.

Which two days would you choose to go in? I was thinking Friday maybe as the commute is likely to be quieter but then I also like to start my weekend as soon as I close my laptop.
Or maybe Thursdays as that’s when I’m more likely to meet friends after work for dinner.

I live in London zone 3 and have a 1hr door to door commute on the overground or train if that makes a difference.

Monday and Wednesday or Thursday

Monday- get in the right frame of mind

Then you're later on in the week for stuff that needs to be done ASAP but in the office.

Otherwise it's another week until you're in the office

I used to do Monday or Tuesday and Thursday.. I chose Thursdays because it was the night most work nights out happened.

Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday is much less to dread if you’re at home and wfh Monday’s make weekends away much easier. Thursday and Friday are an extended weekend and Wednesday as a hump day is much less painful knowing you’re done with the office at the end of the day.

If you voluntarily pick Monday or Friday a lot of those days you’ll end up with people missing due to leave or bank hols, will that make a difference?

Tues and Thurs.

Mon is too much chance of hangover from engineering works. Friday lots of people work from home. I have a health condition that causes fatigue so a day in between is good. Once back in I don't like more than 2 consecutive days on my own.

Tues and Weds is also appealing. I might do that in the Winter months and Tues and Thurs in Summer.

Does the company’s Covid risk assessment stipulate maximum occupancy of the office? You might not have a totally free choice.

I would never go in on a Monday if I had a choice. It's lovely to have a relaxed Monday at home to get over the weekend (I'm self-employed for part of the week). I would work Wednesday and Thursday.
