I had planned on this colour scheme for my sitting room - until my friend remarked on the similarity of the colour of the suite to baby poo

And now I'm having second thoughts! I see gold, she sees breastfed baby poo. Please can I have your opinions?!

I'm sticking with the navy and white wall colours, it's just the sofa I'm dithering about. If you agree with my friend, what alternative colour sofa do you think would look good?

I don't see it. It looks like an antique gold to me. Nice.

Ironmanrocks · 04/03/2021 21:41

I don't mind it, but as an alternative maybe look out a peacock blue/teal kind of colour? Always looks good in a velvet - really opulent!

hotsouple · 04/03/2021 21:42

If you want to go bright and funky I think a hot pink would look excellent but I do love the gold/bronze and think anything in a yellow to orange palette will also compliment the walls quite well!

It’s lovely. Is she obsessed with the contents of nappies or something?

VegetarianDeathCult · 04/03/2021 21:45

I mean, it’s as much the colour of mustard, autumn leaves etc.

Viviennemary · 04/03/2021 21:46

I agree it's dire. Go for a darker brown.

Tanfastic · 04/03/2021 21:47

I really like it. I'd buy it.

DoubleTweenQueen · 04/03/2021 21:48

I think the chair / sofa colour is a bit old hat and with a navy and white background, you can use so many other colours for your soft furnishings - what are your favourite colours? You could have a velvet sofa and one or more accent chairs in different colours/fabric?

Blueberries0112 · 04/03/2021 21:50

That color is usually considered harvest gold (at least in America back in the 1950-1970’s )

I never felt it is considered baby poo color. It look nice

FamilyOfAliens · 04/03/2021 21:51

I really like the sofa but its a no from me on the navy and white walls. Just too stark and cold. And unless you have a massive room, it will bring it right in.

7catsandcounting · 04/03/2021 21:51

It's gorgeous. She might be a bit jealous.

AutoIncorrect · 04/03/2021 21:52

It’s fine. Buy what makes you happy.

goldielockdown2 · 04/03/2021 21:52

Doesn't look baby poo colour to me. Immature thing to say anyway. I wouldn't see something red and think 'ew looks like blood'

PickAChew · 04/03/2021 21:53

It looks lovely and as a bonus, won't show the stains!

Weedsnseeds1 · 04/03/2021 21:54

Looks fine to me. Jade Green or hot pink would look fantastic with that wall colour, but might be a bit of a bold choice?

Beautiful3 · 04/03/2021 21:57

Its beautiful, very classy.

DoubleTweenQueen · 04/03/2021 21:58

Also - get a few navy testers, as they will all look quite different in different rooms with different light qualities

JackieWeaversZoomAc · 04/03/2021 22:00

It looks like gold to me. If you like it go for it

It's gorgeous, ignore your friend

Mrsrightagain · 04/03/2021 22:04

Love it.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 04/03/2021 22:07

We’ve got the same colour scheme - I think it looks fab but to be honest I slightly regret it because it is so crazy popular at the moment - I think it’s going to date quite quickly.

We have at least got a more neutral coloured sofa (with gold velvet cushions / throws) so we can repaint and get new cushions when we get bored of it. I’d maybe think twice about a sofa in that colour as its more of an investment.

CravingTheSun · 04/03/2021 22:08

It’s not baby poo, it’s a sofa. Two very different things and that won’t even cross most people’s minds!

I absolutely love it and I think that shade goes perfectly with the rest of the colour scheme Smile

Oh - I got distracted by a dispute between dc involving pancakes! Sorry, will read replies now.
