Alison Hammond is out of her depth, isn't she? Painful to watch

Hi,

Just checking it isn't just me.

I don't dislike Alison at all! She's done some fantastic interviews, but she just can't present, not to this level, so why did she get the Friday This Morning gig?

Watching through my fingers. Dermot isn't much better, but he can just about read an autocue at least!

Did I read that Philip Scofield pushed for her to get the job? I suspect just to get Ruth and Eamon out.

@Smoothsoul All swept under the carpet, will we ever find out?!
Aside from all that messiness though, they’re just not great as a presenting couple, it’s awkward and dull

Alison is far too loud and over the top for me and so so full of herself. She comes across like a silly child and, I think, just makes an idiot of herself.

I like Eamonn and Ruth and Rochelle and Marvin. Not keen on Phil and Holly as Phil seems so smug and Holly an airhead

Love Alison celeb pieces but not on the main show. Im not sure why she has taken over to be honest although it did coincide with BLM and she did say that it helped give her opportunities which is fair enough if she can do the job but she is clearly out of her depth on this. And Dermot just looks so out of sorts ans bored half the time. There is no chemistry or banter between them I much prefer R and E. I love their banter and their little arguments they have. Eamon is also not afraid to speak his mind.

Tal45 · 01/03/2021 16:42

I love Alison's celeb interviews as well, she's so funny and OTT but her and Dermot doing the whole show just doesn't work at all. They just don't gel.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 01/03/2021 16:49

I've liked Alison since she was on Big Brother... dancing on the table and fell through it, laughing her head off. I think she's great fun!

I haven't seen this presenting though, don't think I want to.

I remember how sad I was watching Anthony Cotton who was so lively on Coronation Street, being giving his own presenting show and it was very quickly cancelled. Extremely painful to watch, I really felt for him.

Itstheprinciple · 01/03/2021 16:51

I love Alison and haven't actually seen her present TM yet, but her sudden recruitment to the role was clearly based more on the colour of her skin than anything else, which is a shame. She is so good at what she does and all the celebs seem to love her but it all felt a bit rushed in order to meet quotas. I am not at all saying a variety of people shouldn't be represented but it does seem a little tokenistic at the moment. I'm not sure what the answer is as BAME people must be represented but to shoe horn people in to jobs they aren't necessarily cut out for is patronising at best.

I'd love to see someone like Stephen Mulhern given a chance.

Off this week so thought I would check in on this morning cue Holly and Phil sniggering over spicy meatballs HmmHmmHmm

MamaMeAh · 04/03/2021 10:26

Did they say why they'd be no Alison and Dermot this morning? I've hust turned it on

Dogatemyporridge · 05/03/2021 18:28

@MamaMeAh They’re only on, on Fridays.

Eurgh it’s so dull, only watch when it’s Eamon & Ruth, they do a great job, without them it’s crap.

I8toys · 05/03/2021 18:55

Can we have Holly and Alison - just to throw a spanner in the mix.

Dogatemyporridge · 05/03/2021 20:40

Nah, just E&R full time, around 90% comments on here and forums and in real life seem to say the same, it’s odd it’s still Phil & Holly, P in particular is very unpopular, E&R are miles ahead and everyone knows it. P.S obviously has some pull over it all, somehow.

KarensChoppyBob · 07/03/2021 13:38

Agree with PP totally. R & E ftw.

I like Rylan too, he's a natural at presenting.

If they need younger presenters at some point at least make sure they're intelligent, well trained and not just married to someone convenient at the time.
