Tv for toddler

GemmeFatale · 25/02/2021 21:13

I know, I know. I’m a terrible parent for allowing my tiny child to watch tv.

But I’d like recommendations anyway

Something toddler suitable but also not mind numbing for the adults.

Huge hits so far - Madagascar, penguins of Madagascar, Shaun the Sheep, Happy Feet.

Misses - monsters inc (terrifying), despicable me (also terrifying)

What else might we all enjoy?

Ben and holly ?

Perfectenschlag · 25/02/2021 21:16

Hey Duggee, Raa Raa, Giant Jack(Netflix). They're the main ones my 2 year old loves but I also just stick CBeebies on sometimes and he just watches whatever is on.

Mustardbay · 25/02/2021 21:20

Alphablocks -
Steve and Maggie
Blippi if desperate Grin
Cocomelon

raskolnikova · 25/02/2021 21:20

Aside from CBeebies, you could look on YouTube for some retro programmes like Sooty and Sweep, the Clangers, etc.

Meowmeow20202 · 25/02/2021 21:20

Also tayo the little bus

DisgruntledPelican · 25/02/2021 21:21

Sarah and Duck. It’s really soothing.

You definitely are not a terrible parent for letting your 3 year old watch tv..

Willow4987 · 25/02/2021 21:24

DS loves Sarah and Duck............. and so do I.
Doublechins · 25/02/2021 21:28

My 2 year old likes boobah and baby shark. He also loves Spider-Man and lots of other stuff aimed at older kids but that's because as the youngest of 4 he doesn't often get to pick 🤣

Squidgling · 25/02/2021 21:29

My 3 year old has loved My Neighbour Totoro since she was about 2½. She also loves cocomelon, JoJo and gran gran and frozen/frozen 2.

mynameiscalypso · 25/02/2021 21:30

Toddler DS quite likes nature documentaries (so long as they don't involve things underwater which he hates at the moment). It makes me feel better about having the TV on. I also quite like Go Jetters mainly because my geography is terrible so I actually learn something from it!

NerrSnerr · 25/02/2021 21:31

Charlie and Lola, Hey Duggie, Ben and Holly, Pokoyo, Masha and the bear, Peppa, Thomas and PJ masks were all favourites when mine were toddlers.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 25/02/2021 21:32

Moana, ponyo, Masha and the bear, Ben and holly,

Usagi12 · 25/02/2021 21:35

I watch Hey Duggee with mine on Cbeebies, I think it's hysterical.

EIRA3 · 25/02/2021 21:36

Toy stories all 4 of them. My dd 2years loves them and loves Disney+. Especially when the weather is rubbish.

Heyha · 25/02/2021 21:39

Lots of good recommends already but a surprise hit here was the Lego movies- we were watching them while DD was playing alongside us and she gradually stopped playing 😂
Finding Nemo went down a treat too

Katia2511 · 25/02/2021 21:40

Another vote for Go Jetters, you learn interesting things. Also all Julia Donaldson books made into short films (Gruffalo, Room on the Broom etc.), I have watched them a few times and always enjoy them

MagdasMadHouse · 25/02/2021 21:43

Most of the ones they show on CBeebies. Also most U certificates on Disney. The Pixar/Disney Pixar ones are generally a bit scarier I think. We have enjoyed Lilo and Stitch, Moana, Finding Nemo, Mulan, Hercules, Aristocats, Robin Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Cinderella, The Rescuers, Frozen and Snow White since getting Disney + (and probably some more I've forgotten). Some of them are under adult profile only because of issues with racism, eg. We couldn't find dumbo or Peter Pan I think initially but they are on there.

snackmammy · 25/02/2021 21:45

Winnie the Pooh my 5 year old still loves it and watches them all I don't mind it either and baby will watch along if he's there x

MagdasMadHouse · 25/02/2021 21:45

You can fast forward through the dodgey bits! It's only a few minutes of the film you miss

MagdasMadHouse · 25/02/2021 21:47

The Julia Donaldson ones done for Tv are lovely. We love stick man, the snail and the whale and the gruffalo especially.

We do watch a lot of Peppa Pig, Pingu, Thomas the tank, Fireman Sam, Paw Patrol etc

17caterpillars1mouse · 25/02/2021 21:49

My 2 year old is obsessed with the adventures of Paddington on my5 and its definitely one of the better shows. She also loves Little Princess (not so entertaining for adults)
