Tv for toddler

GemmeFatale · 25/02/2021 21:13

I know, I know. I’m a terrible parent for allowing my tiny child to watch tv.

But I’d like recommendations anyway

Something toddler suitable but also not mind numbing for the adults.

Huge hits so far - Madagascar, penguins of Madagascar, Shaun the Sheep, Happy Feet.

Misses - monsters inc (terrifying), despicable me (also terrifying)

What else might we all enjoy?

Since 2.5 yrs my DD has loved the Paddington films also spirit riding free on Netflix as she loves horses, she doesn't follow it all but I find it's like my new soap opera lol

Check out the “Cbeebies Presents” section on iplayer for some recordings of the Cbeebies live shows, my toddler is obsessed and these have seen us through all 3 lockdowns! Grin

Similar to Shaun the Sheep- Pingu. Also YouTube is brilliant because you can look up nice nostalgic shows like The Clangers.

If you have Disney+, there's a couple of Disney singalongs from the last year which have a variety of celebs doing Disney songs at home (think it was a covid thing). DS loves them all a lot. We've watched the Christmas one at least a hundred times.

ForeverBubblegum · 25/02/2021 22:01

Hay Duggee, gruffalo etc (all on bbc iplayer), Sarah and duck, tinga tinga tales

Katjolo · 25/02/2021 22:03

Hey Duggee

AWryGiraffe · 25/02/2021 22:10

Hey Duggee is actually funny! I like watching that with my 2 year old. Moana is good too, her concentration wouldn't last through a film at that age though. I also don't mine Katie Morag on CBeebies. Bing is banned as is baby jake. Fucking hell so annoying.

WannabeOT · 25/02/2021 22:13

In this house it's ben and Holly, Peppa, hey duggie and other bits and bobs on cbeebies. She doesn't watch many films yet but she does like gnomeo and Juliet on Netflix. I'll sign up to Disney+ at some point this year too.

WannabeOT · 25/02/2021 22:14

Oh and the Julia Donaldson adaptations are great, nice for adults too.

SleepingStandingUp · 25/02/2021 22:15

Well OBVIOUSLY mine only watch Baby Einstein.

However I recommend....

CBeebies: Timmy Time, Tiny Wonders, Hey Digger

Happy Feet 2 is better than Happy Feet 1
Trolls Movie

Baby Bear stuff on You Tube.

saraclara · 25/02/2021 22:18

Hey Duggee is one of the best little kids TV programmes ever. I love it!

The Philosophy Badge...brilliant. Especially Roly's philosophy! I love the idea of two year olds learning what a philosophy is!

SleepingStandingUp · 25/02/2021 22:22

Oh and my twins adore Magic Hands

canihaveacoffeeplease · 25/02/2021 23:25

Bluey is great. We live in Australia where it's made, but pretty sure it's on cbeebies too. It is so funny, really well observed, but also very sweet.

GemmeFatale · 26/02/2021 07:58

Oh loads of suggestions there. Thanks all.

Look on YouTube for ´Come Outside’ with auntie Mabel and Pippin the dog. It’s quite old now, but my children loved it.
