It's hard enough without covid but people with means, not super wealthy, where do they go in winter? Skiing? Thailand? It's just so hard the UK winter and boring....

Pre ds we used to do the Canaries most winters . Also been to Malta and Maderia. Love my winter sunshine but has been lacking since we had ds as being confined to school holidays makes it difficult and expensive!

Went to Barbados last Feb and Dubai the yet before. Wouldn't do Dubai again but Barbados was fabulous. Most of my friends ski in Feb but I crave warm sunshine and beaches. Have also been to the Canaries in winter and the weather was lovely. Cyprus was lovely in early April but chilly of an evening.

The Canaries and Madeira are excellent winter destinations for activities like hiking, cycling and watersports like diving, sailing etc. People don't just go there to lay on the beach.

Madeira especially has beautiful inland mountanous regions, but the landscape in the Canaries is far more than barren wasteland.

Two weeks in either Caribbean or Mexico

Typically skiing or somewhere long haul for some sun but unfortunately most people with money actually have these things called jobs so mostly all winter they go to this thing called workGrin

Next year I definitely want winter sun!

Super rich go to Caribbean, Seychelles, Maldives, South Africa and then skiing in Courchevel/Klosters/Davos.

We always go away for February half term. Last year we went to Cuba, which was fabulous. Beautiful beaches/snorkelling, amazing culture and history, fascinating towns to wander around and just the loveliest people.

The year before we went to the Egyptian Red Sea coast, and before that Fuerteventura for several years.

Next year we have voted to go back to Fuerteventura. We stay in a lovely quiet little fishing village which has beautiful beaches and rock pools, no night clubs just a handful a really good cosy fish restaurants. There are some great little places in the Canaries if you avoid the touristy hot spots.
