Bloom and Wild flowers

ShinyHatStand · 23/02/2021 18:08

what are others' experiences with Bloom and Wild?

I had some lovely flowers from them last summer so asked for an annual subscription for my birthday.
The last two deliveries have been massively disappointing- both times it included roses that were damaged and/or past their best.

Is this just inevitable during the winter months? Or have I been unlucky? Or do they send better stuff to new customers?

Seriously thinking of cancelling as the idea was to be cheered up once a month and that is not the effect they're having.

I bought a subscription for my mum as a present and had a similar experience! She did eventually contact them and they sent a replacement and were very nice but it was pretty disappointing. Several deliveries were really poor.

KimsPonytail · 23/02/2021 18:17

That's interesting, as I got a subscription for a work colleague and suspected (although never confirmed) that they were a bit crap for her too. One off deliveries seem much nicer.

HotChoc10 · 23/02/2021 18:18

I've had them a few times and feel like they usually arrive looking a bit squashed but usually perk up a lot over the next few days.

I haven’t used B&W, but I get Freddie’s Flowers subscription and they always arrive fresh and in great condition. I have it set up for a box every three weeks and at least part of the bunch last that long.

BrookePalomoV · 23/02/2021 18:23

I told my DH not to buy me their flowers as both times they have arrived starved of water. second lot did a revive a bit but I had to throw some of the bunch away.

orangenasturtium · 23/02/2021 18:28

I haven't used them directly but Ocado stock Bloom & Wild bouquets now and they have been great. They are different designs from the Bloom & Wild website though and I assume they are smaller (they are cheaper). It is very easy to get a refund if they aren't up to scratch though.

NutellaEllaElla · 23/02/2021 18:31

Letter box flowers have been very disappointing generally. Even if they do pick up a day or two after, it's a shite first impression.

HarryDresdensLeatherDuster · 23/02/2021 18:37

Sorry to hear that your experience has not been great. I am another one to rave about Freddie's, The flowers are genuinely stunning! They arrive in bud so you have the pleasure of watching them open and flourish over the days and they last for ages. I currently have some chrysanthemums that are three weeks old and are the size of my face!

Poppins2016 · 23/02/2021 18:45

I've found Bloom & Wild disappointing recently, too. Alstroemeria stem snapped, roses wilted with browning petals... I received a delivery on Tuesday last week and some of the rose heads had 'nodded' by Saturday. I would expect much better quality for the price.

SpringisSpinning · 23/02/2021 19:27

Dh got me something for valentines and I'm super impressed still looking good today m really pretty

happyjack12 · 23/02/2021 19:29

my friend has sent me these every month for about 6 months, they look nothing on arrival but after sitting in a vase of water for 2 days they look fab, and can last between 7-10 days if i remember to change the water !

user1471530109 · 23/02/2021 19:32

Don't say that! I literally placed an order for mother's Day last night Sad. I've assumed they've always been nice (in past during lockdown) but I've never had any bought for me so don't know Blush

chickennuggs · 23/02/2021 19:36

I had a subscription for my Mum from B&W. The flowers were okay, but always seemed a bit paltry for the amount they cost. I think that's because they're tied in to the whole letterbox idea, so it keeps things relatively small.

I now have a recurring monthly delivery set up from Freddie's Flowers. They're not letterbox, so you do have to be in, but they give you an hour window by text for delivery the day before. They are absolutely gorgeous every time, loads of flowers, in great condition, last for weeks. My Mum is thrilled every month, and they're only a few £ more than B&W.

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 23/02/2021 19:38

I got a subscription for my mum back in September to cheer up a winter of lockdowns and they have been absolutely lovely. Not just DM being polite, ahe sent me photos and they really are.

However, it does say on the website they arrive looking a bit bedraggled but will come into their own in a few days.

Malteser71 · 23/02/2021 19:40

We were sent some in December following a bereavement, the roses were in very poor shape.

Mrstumbletap · 23/02/2021 19:41

My husband ordered me a bunch for my birthday, all bone dry and dying. There were sent without water!! What florist does that?

He contacted them and they offered him 20% off his next bunch. No replacement or refund just wanted him to order more!

Awful product and customer service.

supadupapupascupa · 23/02/2021 19:41

I've had a few and recommend them. Had a few stems damaged but not many. They always look a bit meh for the first 24 hours but they perk up amazingly (it does explain this in the box) My valentines bouquet is still going strong from last Saturday

I get Freddie's and they don't give me an hour window. I also didn't need to be in, they leave them at the side of the door and put a card through, I've sat and watched them do it so it's not like they did it because I wasn't in.

I do like the flowers but the set up seems to be weekly and you have to "skip" to get them to come less frequently and I keep forgetting. I only want them fortnightly.

But they last at least two weeks with some stems lasting longer. It's my lockdown treat, using my saved commute money.

hennybeans · 23/02/2021 19:49

I've had them twice last summer and I was unimpressed. I understand they are meant to perk up and bloom after a day or two of water, but both times I thought what I received was overpriced and a few of the stems were damaged beyond saving. Plus, it's really underwhelming when you receive flowers and open the box to half dead, wilted, scraggly looking things. Yes, they improved a bit but still didn't look worth it.

14down · 23/02/2021 20:03

I didn't like bloom and wild but my Freddie's flowers last for weeks!!

AvonCallingBarksdale · 23/02/2021 20:04

Oh no 🤦‍♀️ I bought my mum a years subscription as a Christmas present. She would never say anything but she’s sent a couple of photos when they’ve arrived and they didn’t look amazing Sad

fabulousspider · 23/02/2021 20:06

I had a delivery the other day and the roses have already (2-3 days later) gone "saggy" headed if that's a word.

GBand · 23/02/2021 20:07

Another vote for Freddie's Flowers. We stopped ordering as the delivery was early and woke us up with our dogs barking Sad. Brilliant product though.

All the Bloom and Wild letterbox flowers arrive without water. The whole point is they come through the letterbox, so you dont need to be in. And for that to happen, they send them in bud, without water. It's their selling point.
