Just that really. I'm addressing my bad eating habits and planning my food.

I don't mean "massive salad". I do like a nice salad but not generally in winter.

@ThePricklySheep yep I'm hungry! Really hungry in fact.

I do like a salad and will have a grilled chicken breast, or a tin of tuna and boiled egg. So the extra protein fills me up more than the sandwich.

It's greatly see what others have, and funny not many sandwiches listed here. I would be absolutely starving on some of them though. Soup never seems to fill me up which is a shame as I do like it.

I lost 21lbs in 3 months a couple if years ago, loosely sticking to 1800 cals a day so am goingto aim for that again I think.

Do you like omelettes OP?

ImFree2doasiwant · 22/02/2021 17:13

I do! Good call, I actually love an omelette.

Today I had a vegan burger that I made with quinoa and vegetables. I had it on the bottom half of a burger bun with some mustard dressing and a quarter of an avacado. There was also a basic salad of different kind of lettuce. It wasn’t massive, it was just enough to go with the burger and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Other days I have chicken or salmon/crab/tuna with the proverbial massive salad, a small helping of carbs and a tablespoon of homemade french dressing.

ThePricklySheep · 22/02/2021 17:35

Soup with beans or lentils in fills me up more. Might be worth a try.

muddyford · 22/02/2021 17:39

Today it was cold chicken and cole slaw sandwich using wholemeal bread, then a banana and two cups of tea. Then two plain chocolate digestives...needed using up, obviously.

Whattodo121 · 22/02/2021 17:40

I like those cous cous packets from Tesco, with torn up ham and some grated cheese on the top of them. Today i had a ham, cheese and mushroom omelette on a sesame bagel. On my non working days I also like roasted veggies with hard boiled eggs or chicken breast on the side. On my Working days I quite like those porridge, pasta or noodle pots which you fill with boiling water as they don’t have to be kept in the fridge and it doesn’t matter if you randomly eat them on another day.

Heartbrokenstill · 22/02/2021 18:10

What a great thread 🙂 writing some of these down as I have started to cut down/eat more healther 🙂 I am still feeling hungry all the time though 🙁

Anne1958 · 22/02/2021 18:22

@Whattodo121

John West do a giant cous cous with salmon that’s really nice hot or cold. There’s also a couple of other varieties in the same range.

Icenii · 22/02/2021 18:33

Wholemeal roll, cheddar, marmite, banana and cress!

JackieWeaver4PrimeMinister · 22/02/2021 19:51

@cobblers123 the warburtons Danish is quite low carb, also I sometimes use a sandwich thin.

Nohomemadecandles · 22/02/2021 20:08

@cobblers123 there's fewer carbs in wholemeal bread than ryvita gram for gram

JackieWeaver4PrimeMinister · 22/02/2021 20:12

Without wanting to sound too obtuse, can anyone tell me what couscous tastes like? And what you have it with? Raised in a northern ex-mining village, by a mother who thought spaghetti bolognese was foreign and strange.. if it's not bread or potato I probably haven't had it. Rice was a revelation when I went to uni haha.

AlwaysLatte · 22/02/2021 20:16

We had baked potatoes and chicken Caesar salad for lunch today, leftover from yesterday's roast chicken. Other regular lunches are omelette or frittata with leftover roast vegetables, vegetable lasagne, pea and Parmesan risotto or Dal, home made soups. Wraps with chicken/ham/onion bhajis and salad. Chick pea curry is another favourite lunch.

spagbog5 · 22/02/2021 20:17

We have whatever we have in but do tend to eat fairly healthy as we prefer it.

Today was a slice of rye bread (slices are huge, hence only one each) toasted with tomatoes, home picked sliced red onions and cheese.

Often it's homemade veg soup
Pasta salad
Toasties
Wraps with houmous , veg and falafel etc
Scrambled egg on toast or avocado and tomatoes on toast
Etc

Nohomemadecandles · 22/02/2021 20:18

It tastes of nothing on its own. It's tiny pasta/semolina.
Steep it in stock and add in the things, I guess you'd put in a rice or pasta salad.

Thomasina2021 · 22/02/2021 20:21

I eat a keto diet , today I had a mushroom feta and spinach omelette for lunch

Other days I have things like greens soup, leftovers from night before , a couple of boiled eggs mashed with butter, tuna and Mayo with celery sticks

Basically minimal carbs , I have much more energy in the afternoon this way

Dizzy1234 · 22/02/2021 20:27

3 rice cakes with tuna, onion and a little mayo mixed in, carrot and celery sticks and 2 teaspoons of low fat houmas, low fat and filling

Sceptre86 · 22/02/2021 20:30

I had a tuna and sweetcorn mayo sandwich, two tangerines and a packet of salt and vinegar squares. I am 12 weeks pregnant and it was yummy.

imjackieweaver · 22/02/2021 20:39

Lentil and bacon soup

Noodle soup

ImFree2doasiwant · 22/02/2021 21:45

@JackieWeaver4PrimeMinister it's not got a flavour if you buy it plain. You can add stock/herbs when you soak it. Or buy the flavoured packets for a start. I use those to have with salmon, or chicken and roasted Mediterranean veg. Or with a lamb tagine. Or buy the fresh prepared pots to have s a side with salad.

We bought a panini toastie at Christmas, however I just used my fitness pal to tote up my lunch and now have the horrors - a panini, mayo, Mexicana cheese and turkey breast melt is 800 cals!

Now I have the fear...

Floraflower3 · 22/02/2021 22:10

Today I had half a pack of smoked salmon on two toasted crumpets (don’t shoot me for the pack of veg.

For dinner (would make a great lunch) I stuffed a pre-roasted pepper with 5% mince cooked with onion, tomato purée and Nando’s sauce, topped it with grated cheddar then baked for a bit longer, with quarter of an avocado.

It's so easy to cook. 1:1 ratio of cous cous to boiling water. 1 cup of cous cous makes enough for two people if you're having it with something like a fillet of salmon. I always put one or at least one half of a stock cube in my boiling water before I add the cous cous.

Put the lid on the pan and ignore it. It's done in minutes. Don't boil it just leave it soaking. By the time you've gone to get the salt and pepper it's almost done!

I lift the lid when it's partially done and stir in a knob of butter and a little salt and pepper.

I love it with garlic, spring onions, and cucumber mixed in. Then I have it with salmon or tuna mayo and/or avocado. Plonk some cherry tomatoes and feta on for good measure and absolute drench it in lemon juice!

I love cous cous!!
