Ooh @CMOTDibbler was it any good? Really missing having dim sum on the weekend!!!

judgingcat · 19/02/2021 09:59

Big fat nothing. We haven't been anywhere as it's been deathly cold outside.
My bank balance has thanked me for it though. 😂

iPhonie · 19/02/2021 10:04

Nothing either bar the food shop. Fed up!

trilbydoll · 19/02/2021 10:08

£10 on some magnetic eyeliner and false eyelashes from Amazon. To my disappointment no-one has tried them yet!

It's become apparent that the kids needed new clothes, how this wasn't apparent over the last 6 weeks I don't know but I've done about £100 of various online orders. Not really a specific half term expense though.

VenusClapTrap · 19/02/2021 10:09

I just spent a whopping £750 on a guinea pig run for when they move outside for the summer. I was feeling a bit bad about spending so much money on it until I read this thread! It’s reminded me that we would normally be on holiday this week, spending a lot more than that.

And the Guinea pigs have been an absolute godsend for the dc’s mental health while we’ve been on lockdown. Mine too, actually. They are way more entertaining than I expected!

CMOTDibbler · 19/02/2021 10:16

@Xiaoxiong ds and dh have very much enjoyed it - ordered from Ping Pong

vinoandbrie · 19/02/2021 10:17

Very little!

Takeaway cake and drink for the kids from the park on two days this week = about £10 in total.

Will take them to McDonald’s drive thru for supper as have promised them for a half term treat.

It’s been so dull for them, I’ve been working throughout as well. I really hope the poor things get a better Easter holiday with more available for them to do!

wendz86 · 19/02/2021 10:20

Gave the kids £15 each for working hard at home and school. So £30.
£25 on a graze box.
Maybe a couple of quid on treats at the shop.
A lot less than a normal half term.

Kottbullar · 19/02/2021 10:23

£15 Fuzzikins from Jack Valentine

What is this??

@Xiaoxiong that's brilliant, what do you do with all the rubbish you've picked up?
Also it would be cheaper for you to get a Disney+ subscription for Gravity falls.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 19/02/2021 10:25

Nothing except food. We are spending more on food though, since we are trying out new recipes etc at the moment. And we had a 'Chinese Banquet' on Sunday as a slightly belated Chinese New Year.

Compared to last Feb...
Day 1... Pets at Home Workshop... Free
Day 2... Swimming. £5 for me as children free
Day 3... Steam Train day... Added up a bit but early birthday treat for DD2
Day 4-7... A few nights in a cabin with hot tub. Only bought food there, just did walks etc.

DH was going to take DDs out in the canoe today (this is a permitted activity within your own household, and you are even allowed to drive to your local river to do it) but wind is too high.

Gottalovesummer · 19/02/2021 10:25

Nothing apart from food shop.

In half term we'd normally go to the cinema/out for lunch and dinner/ trip to London/ bit of shopping for the teenagers

So I have saved a lot of £ but my work hours have been cut so less income. It's swings and roundabouts.

MaddeningtheUnhelpful · 19/02/2021 10:26

I have had DSs birthday and decided to decorate the boys bedroom so I've spent the usually hundreds Grin
I am very fortunate to be saving massively though through lockdown

Peakedin1997 · 19/02/2021 10:32

Nothing, there is nothing to spend money on.
The cafe in my local park has just closed down, so we've even taken our own snacks/thermos of coffee.

orchidsonabudget · 19/02/2021 10:37

Dd2 spent £4,99 of her pocket money on a series on prime
Other than that nothing. Winner

Shinesun14 · 19/02/2021 10:40

No spending apart from yesterday - nandos £31, ice cream £14 and a new bike chain for ds £10.

Normally we would have done days out with activities and lunches. Saved a fortune!

Spied · 19/02/2021 10:47

Mon-£3 drinks from local shop while on a bike/scooter ride.
Tues- Subway sandwiches £14
Wed- Magazines £8
Thur- KfC-£15
Today- Ingredients to make pizzas £7ish
( Very food orientatedBlush
Sat&Sun- probably nothing.

needadvice54321 · 19/02/2021 10:50

Macdonalds drive thru -£25

That's it, it's been a quiet week (funnily enough) Grin

mogtheexcellent · 19/02/2021 10:52

£0

Usually she would be in holiday club.

MondeoFan · 19/02/2021 10:53

Monday £0
Tuesday £0
Wednesday £9 on a book and toy in Asda
Thursday £0
Friday £0

Usually have a day in London, couple lunches out, clothes shopping, swimming, cinema, Ice skating, soft play or zoo.

HelloDulling · 19/02/2021 10:54

Usually we have lunch out every day during this half term. This week, £10 on takeaway coffee, £12 on lunch from the bakery.

BUT I have also ordered a coat for DS, a gilet for me, Timberlands and joggers for DD, flowers for me.

Crunchymum · 19/02/2021 10:59

Not much

Kids been with MIL Mon-Weds (I was working and she is our childcare bubble) so I sent round a goodie bag of things for lunches and snacks - yoghurts, babybels, popcorn, sandwich fillings, fruit, pitta, humus. Probably £20 but that was x3 kids. MIL never asks or expects but its the least we can do.

Snacks for park yesterday - less than a fiver and a hot choc on the way home so another fiver.

We have a long canal walk planned later so will buy them a juice each and let them pick a "treat".

About the only upside of a lockdown half term in how cheap it's been

I did however spend £700 on a cottage for next half term

Hoppinggreen · 19/02/2021 10:59

£400 on an Occulus (not my idea)

Hoppinggreen · 19/02/2021 11:00

Oh yes, and £1000 for an Easter Holiday in Northumbria (totally my idea)

Xiaoxiong · 19/02/2021 11:21

@Kottbullar ooh good tip about Disney+ as they want to watch the next seasons now!

We just throw the bags of rubbish where we throw our normal black bags (we are lucky to have a big skip-style one). If there wasn't any space I guess we'd have to take them to the tip.

Actually, yesterday we picked past a construction site and the builders shouted to us to put the full bag in their skip, so that was nice and we didn't have to carry it home!

Suzi888 · 19/02/2021 11:24

A happy meal £2.70
Ice cream and water from local cafe £5 ish
Ordered a few craft pieces £15 ish
Costs me an Easter egg every time I go food shopping so 1.98 lol
Generally saving a fair bit, as there’s nowhere to go Sad
