What will make me cry?

I feel like I need a really good cry to get it out my system.

I am not a crier. I really dislike films or programmes designed to make you cry. I'm more emotional about true stories than fictional stories

What can I watch?

Watching England’s dismal batting performance in Chennai would do it for me, OP, but each to her own....

DanielODonkey · 15/02/2021 21:05

Song - Land O The Leal (Kathryn Joseph & grey dogs version).

user64332 · 15/02/2021 21:07

Watch Lion. It is based on a true story, if that doesn't break you nothing will.

user64332 · 15/02/2021 21:10

@LiveintheNow sorry I didn't see you had already suggested it. I watched it in the cinema with my very newborn son on my lap at one of those parent and baby screenings. I went in not having a clue what it was going to be about and was not emotionally prepared, I was a hormonal mess and I never usually cry in public.

Sheepareawesome · 15/02/2021 21:10

The first 15 minutes of Up. It is a kids film but it has me blubbing every time.

Or how about listening to the acoustic version of Eric Clapton Tears in Heaven? I am actually blinking now just thinking about it.

Doyoumind · 15/02/2021 21:11

I have already watched Lion. It did make me cry (at the very end when you see real photos).

The Impossible film about the Boxing Day tsunami delivers me into uncontrollable sobs every time

Milomonster · 15/02/2021 21:14

The Virtues in 4OD. Deeply moving and the acting by Shane Meadows was incredible. It’s dark and deeply moving.

Doyoumind · 15/02/2021 21:16

Yes, The Impossible does make me cry. I think that has real photos at the end too, doesn't it?

If you haven't already seen it, Philomena is a heart- breaker ( more so because it's a true story)

Doyoumind · 15/02/2021 21:45

Watched 15 minutes of Long Lost Family. Not even a single tear Confused

Doyoumind · 15/02/2021 21:46

Yes, Philomena is sad and I think I did cry.

Argentina v England , quarter final 1986 World Cup. That’ll make you cry.

niceupthedance · 15/02/2021 22:01

A monster calls. I'm a bit of a swinging brick at times but I was wailing in the cinema

StressedTired · 15/02/2021 22:35

@LiveintheNow

Lion, left me unable to speak at the end
Another vote for Lion. Tears springing just thinking about it.
notangelinajolie · 15/02/2021 23:09

It's an oldie but watch The Railway Children with Jenny Agutter.
daddy, my daddy Sad

RainyAfternoon · 15/02/2021 23:15

Two Italian films...
Il Postino
Life is Beautiful
Both beautiful but sad. I have never cried at any other films...

Chimboo · 15/02/2021 23:20

Lion, but when the real photos were shown. Wailing.

Oddly, The Green Mile makes me cry. I start when matey gets told there’s no such thing as Mouseville and it pretty much doesn’t stop after that 😶

butterfly990 · 15/02/2021 23:23

I was going to say Lion.

I watched it on a nighttime flight and was bawling my eyes out. The young lads sat next to me thought I was odd to begin with and I didn't disappoint.

snowblower · 15/02/2021 23:24

Yesterday I watched A dog's way home. I cried so much I couldn't catch my breath, proper big sobs.

Gotheeunicorns · 15/02/2021 23:27

Gorillas in the Most
Million Dollar Baby
A Star is Born
Grand Touring

All made me blub

Gotheeunicorns · 15/02/2021 23:27

Tourino

I haven't seen the film of A Monster Calls but the play made me bawl.

The Hate U Give was devastating.

The funeral scene in 4 Weddings and a Funeral when they recite the Auden poem always gets me too.
