I have no skin left inside my nose. ***Warning from MNHQ: Contains slightly graphic photo***

Must be the cold weather and central heating.

The skin in the inside of my nostrils has completely peeled off. It's constantly bloody or scabby. When I look up it all I can see is bright red in one nostril (fresh blood) and bright pink sensitive inflamed wet lower skin layers in the other.

It's very uncomfortable Sad worried it will get infected

Has anyone had this before/any tips to help? Feel like I need Naseptin but not sure if it's worth bothering the GP for this? How will it heal when every time I blow my nose/sneeze/shower/wash my face the sores all open up?!

Can post a pic if anyone is interested Wink

Unfortunately you will have to "bother" the GP as Naseptin is not available off prescription.

@Mischance I said that I was allergic to latex that is in the Covid testing kit and after doing it had a reaction and had the same issue!
Had scabs which were sore up my nose so less of the for goodness sakes because guess what it happens 👍.

@bookshop1 You poor thing - it is horrible when that happens. It's the horrible slipping feeling when it comes away that's the worst, I think.

I think PP are right and it is time to get it checked out with the GP. Whether it is a cold sore or an infection or just tissue breakdown, it should be looked at at least once. In the meantime, I do recommend a thick layer of sudocrem to soothe the pain and protect the open area overnight. If nothing else, it will help you to sleep.

@mischance if you read the rest of the short post that you commented on you will see that I have filled out an e consult for the GP...

@Elizabethinhergermangarden unfortunately I don't have any Sudocrem. I have Savlon but not sure if that would be a good idea, I'm just going to leave it alone until I get the Naseptin (hopefully soon!)

Just taken a Benadryl so hopefully that will help with the inflammation

I get this. And it’s not cold sores. Naseptin is the only thing that ever heals me!

Hope you get it sorted. It’s bloody unpleasant. Smile

I get this and Sudocrem sorts it out. Never thought of it being an infection though I just put it down to central heating and mask wearing.

I've had this for years. The ENT consultant joked that my nose looked like I'd been sniffing something illegal. Mine is caused by allergies. The worst bit is the scabs going hard, which is really distracting. I pick them off and the whole cycle goes on and on.

@bookshop1 hope you managed to speak to the GP today and got something to help you and a bit of relief for it Flowers

I can't work out how that nose picture works - how does it fit into a face? Confused

@Dee261 thank you, it's starting to improve and

Re odd nose- I was pulling up the end to show inside. It is a completely normal nose usually (uncontrolled bleeding aside) and fits into my face like anyone else's does?

Hope it does the trick. I used to get nasal sores a lot and various GPs have told me it’s a sign of Diabetes - oddly now I am Diabetic I’ve not had it!! I always used to stick sudocrem up there, or warm salt water - although years ago I was prescribed something.

I get problems like this inside my nose. I have a funny autoimmune thing that makes it worse. I find Vaseline really helps to stop it forming really hard scans. Like @Ismellphantoms I can get into a vicious circle with it otherwise.

Hope it clears up with the prescription.

Impetigo is a possibility.
