I have no skin left inside my nose. ***Warning from MNHQ: Contains slightly graphic photo***

Must be the cold weather and central heating.

The skin in the inside of my nostrils has completely peeled off. It's constantly bloody or scabby. When I look up it all I can see is bright red in one nostril (fresh blood) and bright pink sensitive inflamed wet lower skin layers in the other.

It's very uncomfortable Sad worried it will get infected

Has anyone had this before/any tips to help? Feel like I need Naseptin but not sure if it's worth bothering the GP for this? How will it heal when every time I blow my nose/sneeze/shower/wash my face the sores all open up?!

Can post a pic if anyone is interested Wink

Is there actually gaps in the skin?
It looks more like you've got sores, than the skin actually peeling.

AAAARGH trigger warning, please??
I do think you should ask your GP for some antiseptic cream.

Are you sure that’s a nose? It looks like the gates of hell.
Hahaha!

My nasal holes have been totally fecked after wearing a mask all day in a hot office. They are dry and mank and I regularly pick bloody bits out (sorry)
I have a nasal spray and poke sudocrem up there but I know it’s the mask.

@souther yes, gaps in the skin there is no skin around where the scabs are- completely ulcerated

@AlwaysLatte the warning has already been requested per previous comment Smile must be worse than I thought... Blush

I hope your nose gets better soon.
I hope it isnt too serious but think you probably need it seeing/ treating.

I used to get this badly in the winter, I now put vaseline up my nostrils overnight (applying with a cotton bud works well), I also make sure that my home isn’t too dry. It has largely solved it.

“ worried it will get infected”

I’d be more concerned it’s about to launch an intergalactic battle fleet from the look of it.

@ElizabethinherGermanGarden

I get this - there's a weak bit that splits open every time I get a cold and it's really difficult to get it to heal. I use sudocrem on a cotton bud, thinly during the day and more thickly during the night. This helps keep it moist and flexible and stops it itching/irritating so much so I leave it along and it does seem to help it heal.

I do the exact same thing!!

Could be an allergic reaction to the Covid tests they contain latex that I am allergic to and had exactly the same thing happen after the first time. I have antihistamines and been ok since taking them.

simple staph infection, needs naseptin

Report
Mischance · 14/02/2021 19:24

It is an infection - ring the GP and ask him/her to put out some Naseptin. If the problem is still there after 10 days treatment then get back to GP.

an allergic reaction to the Covid tests - for goodness sake!

This is a simple infection - GPs see them every day. It is very simply treated.

From your description even before pic I was going to say cold sore. But might just be sore and chapped. Poor you, looks so uncomfortable.

Do you have e-consult for GP surgery? Fill in that form with the pic. Naseptin will help for any infection due to broken skin
Don't leave it. I had a long term infection iny nostril and I got repeated nosebleeds. To the point I had to use a bowl and towels not tissues. Easily cleared up with naseptin send the bactrotrin (?). I use Neil med sinus rubber now. Not a spray bottle, too harsh. A constabt large volume flow one

Thanks for advice! I try not to bother the GP unless unavoidable, but agree I do need treatment.

I’ve filled out an e consult so hopefully will hear back tomorrow.

Hope they help you and it stops by being so sore!

So ask Gp about infection...
But I have this currently, as a result of roaccutane treatment which makes everything dry and more sensitive. I have some eucerin aquaphor for my (very dry and sore) lips - it has a slight vasoline feel to it but is much more effective - has lanolin in j think. I’ve been sticking that up my nose and it’s definitely helping

I’m definitely not pregnant!

I’ve been wearing a mask all day every day for almost a year and it’s the first time this has happened

Have you had your central heating on more often recently?

I get this when I'm inside with the heating on a lot - I even had a nosebleed a couple of days ago from it. It's the dry air.

WouldstrokeTomHardy · 14/02/2021 20:42

It's a staph infection. Get a prescription for naseptin from the GP
