Petitmum · 10/02/2021 19:27

I love cooking and have been taking stock of what I have in my kitchen and what I actually use. What gadgets do you own and how often do you use them? I haven't included knives/peelers/pots and pans.
I'll start:-

Pressure cooker a few times a week mostly for mash or soups
Microwave daily for defrosting and reheating batch cooked meals
slow cooker a few times a week
air fryer used daily for all sorts......great for fussy autistic dc
stick blender a few times a week for soups/sauces
1970s Kenwood Chef Mixer a few times a week for bread/pizza dough and cakes.
Magimix a few times a month, more in summer when eating more salads
Senseo Coffee Machine Used daily
toaster daily
kettle daily
toaster sandwich maker last used a few months ago and when I found it at the back of the cupboard.
popcorn maker one or twice a month

Ninja Foodi. It’s brilliant and has cut down on having so many individual appliances. We also recently bought a NutriBullet, which I can use for soups and pastes. I’m a fan of appliances having multiple uses.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 10/02/2021 19:30

I've got an electric peeler I keep forgetting about, but it comes into its own if you're making jam or chutney and peeling fruit or using a lot of potatoes.

PurpleDaisies · 10/02/2021 19:31

Ones I use daily or near daily:
Microwave
Kettle
Coffee grinder
Aero press/cafetière

At least once a week
Nutribullet
Hand blender

Rarely
Hand mixer
Slow cooker (since going veggie, almost never)

The sandwich toaster and stick blender are getting a lot of use during lockdown thanks to the teenagers (cheese toasties and fruit smoothies rule!).

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/02/2021 19:33

Soup maker, at least twice a week. Love it.
Espresso machine daily
Velvetiser most days.

Pressure king, once or twice a month.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 10/02/2021 19:36

Daily/pretty much daily
Toaster, Kettle, Microwave

Regularly
Mini blender, electric whisk, Kenwood Chef

Rarely
Toastie maker/grill, slow cooker,

Twillow · 10/02/2021 19:40

Used several times a day - kettle, coffee pod machine

Used almost daily - instant pot (multi-function pressure cooker), microwave, air fryer, vitamix (high power blender)

Used every week - toaster, stick blender, magimix

Occasionally - sandwich toaster, hand blender

I find if I keep them out I use them more.

The slow cooker and the bread machine both get used a lot in our house. I just bought a steamer as they had them in Lidl and that's getting a fair bit of use - I particularly like how it does rice.

Food processor and blender do get used quite frequently but not every week.

Toastie maker and electric citrus juicer - once in a blue moon to be honest!

wibblewombat · 10/02/2021 19:44

Instant Pot, Sage little oven, Nutribullet, proper bread oven, coffee machine, either daily or weekly.

Just got a waffle iron, that's good fun.

Chasingsquirrels · 10/02/2021 19:44

microwave daily, defrosting, soup, beans, frozen peas etc.

kettle & toaster most days, more when DP is over.

bread maker goes in fits and starts, probably make a loaf once a month on average (but will be every week for a few weeks then not for a couple of months). Make pizza dough most weeks. Ds makes hot cross buns dough periodically.

toastie maker also has panini and waffle plates. Again used in fits and starts.

food processor most weeks, crumble, pancake mix, grating cheese, mixing eggs in the smaller spice mill attachment.

electric mixer (not a stand one) infrequently.

Nutri-bullet ds2 uses in fits & starts.

slow cooker periodically, I've been doing chicken bones in it for stock recently from a roast as we aren't going to my parents for Sunday roast atm.

pasta maker ds2 had as a present Christmas 2019 and used it loads for about 6 months and hasn't since.

hand blender periodically for sauces etc.

doughnut maker never - exH brought it as a present for me years ago. Its just taking up space.
pie maker never - we won it in a quiz, we went through a phase of doing fried eggs in it and pancake mix pies but can't remember the last time I used it.

Caspianberg · 10/02/2021 19:46

Nutribullet - daily. Soups, baby food, smoothies, sauces, mixes spices/ grinding herbs

Grill machine - daily. Toasties, meat, fish, veg.

Kettle - daily

NotMeNoNo · 10/02/2021 19:59

Kettle/toaster, Aeropress, Microwave every day
Stick blender, Kenwood chef, couple of times a month
Slow cooker, food processor, under once a month
Bread maker was regular but we've gone over to sourdough (which required buying a stone slab and proving baskets)

PurpleWh1teGreen · 10/02/2021 20:11

Milk frother daily.
Egg timer & digital thermometer regularly
Hand mixer and stick blender frequently
Stand mixer and food processor less often

Not really gadgets but
Whetstone knife sharpener
Frying pan with metal handle that can go in the oven. Great for frittata to use up leftovers.
Easiglide baking trays, though sadly out of stock at the moment. Genuinely the best baking trays I have ever used.

Petitmum · 10/02/2021 21:10

Interesting responses.............it looks like I'm not the only one with a sandwich toaster gathering dust in the back of the cupboard!

Chasingsquirrels · 10/02/2021 21:25

Sandwich toasters are good for fried eggs for sandwiches!

HaggisTheGreat · 10/02/2021 21:28

Kettle, milk frother, aero press - daily
Toaster, slowcooker, soda stream - couple of times a week
Stick blender, mini chopper - most weeks
Pop corn maker, raclette set, fondue set - every few months
Listing it all, we have more gadgets than I realised Blush

Chasingsquirrels · 10/02/2021 21:30

Oh I forgot ds2's candyfloss maker. That hasn't been used in a while. Its good but such a faff.

AlexandraPeppernose · 10/02/2021 21:43

Nespresso and magic bullet - multiple times a day.
Slow cooker - 3 times a month
Kenwood mixer - once a month
Panini press - twice a week

Bloodybridget · 10/02/2021 21:52

Every day: kettle, toaster, coffee machine, microwave.
A few times a month: stick blender, electric mixer, George Foreman grill (usually for a toasted sandwich).
Once or twice a month: jug blender/grinder.

Bloodybridget · 10/02/2021 21:52

Oh and slow cooker a few times a month.

PurpleWh1teGreen · 10/02/2021 21:54

Forgot we have a floating plate sandwich toaster thing, called a cafe press I think. It’s better than the ones that make triangle sandwiches and a lot easier to clean.

It’s getting a lot of use at the moment.

BertieBotts · 10/02/2021 21:56

Rice cooker
Slow cooker
Smoothie maker

Plus all the normal ones, kettle toaster microwave etc.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 10/02/2021 22:06

Breadmaker: had it years but only just started using it. We also make the bread by hand when we can be bothered.

Tassimo machine: used every day for ages until we started feeling guilty about the waste and the cost of the pods so we sold it. Now we just boil the kettle and make tea in the pot or coffee in the dripper.

Brita filter: every day because we live in a very hard water area and no-one wants crunchy bits in their tea.

Sandwich toaster: 1x in a blue moon

Slow cooker: we go through phases of using it all the time and then not using it for months

Microwave: daily for veg, soup, beans etc

Liquidiser thing: 1x in a blue moon

We don't have a fryer, a blender, a toaster or any other gadgets that I can think of.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/02/2021 22:12

electrical gadgets:
toaster - daily
kettle - daily
stick blender - weekly
simple juicer - weekly
waffle iron - monthly

Duckchick · 10/02/2021 22:14

As well as some of the above, I have a Lakeland apple peeler corer which gets used a few times a month - it's massively faster than peeling, coring and choping by hand.

The waffle iron doesn't get used that often but it's such an amazing Sunday morning treat to have waffles for breakfast it's worth it for those times.

An air fryer is high up on my wish list but DH is currently saying no on the basis we have a kitchen full of gadgets already....
