Take away dinner?

Getting a treat takeaway tomorrow for dinner and I'm bored of the usual I get. I camt handle any spice at all. Even think mint tooth paste burns. Either chinese or Indian. What do I want?? Hit me with your faves please

Korma is very mild.

TheFerretsSleeping · 04/02/2021 14:54

Yeah normally get korma but getting bored with it. Chinese usually get sweet and sour or bbq rice and chicken balls.

Hmm, I like beef in oyster sauce, or chicken with ginger and spring onions.
Neither are remotely spicy.

ChocOrange1 · 04/02/2021 16:00

Most chinese things are very mild. Unless its called "chilli" something then you're pretty safe 😂

I really like cashew chicken, lemon chicken and chow main. If you want a real treat then crispy duck. None are at all spicy.

BarbaraofSeville · 04/02/2021 16:07

No other options except Chinese or Indian? Fish and chips?

I get battered squid or a pancake roll and ha moon vermicelli from the Chinese, which is like Singapore noodles without the chilli.

Or I'd get something like an M&S meal deal instead of a takeaway - it's no bother to put a few trays in the oven.

Or you could be That Person who gets the chicken omelette and chips from the Indian or Chinese - most takeaways have an 'English Food' section.

Jellycatspyjamas · 04/02/2021 16:17

Butter chicken or chicken patia are both nice from the Indian and not spicy either.

MalingeringMary · 04/02/2021 16:27

Patia from my local Indian is 'hot and sour', and is VERY hot, so be careful with that!

Jellycatspyjamas · 04/02/2021 16:29

Oh I’ve never had a hot patia, thanks for the warning - I’m now off to look for a spicy patia

TriflePudding · 04/02/2021 16:30

Ooh OP I second chicken with ginger and spring onions, it’s lovely ! In fact we might be looking at a takeaway in the Pudding house over the weekend now !

samanthajonespr · 04/02/2021 16:34

Bhuna or Dupiaza Indian dishes are very flavourful but with very little heat imo. Also Makhonwalla. I have Chicken in OK sauce from
the Chinese (only live in a rural village so only limited to Indian or Chinese cuisine) I have IBS that is triggered by anything hot so I've done the leg work!

BarbaraofSeville · 04/02/2021 16:37

If the OP wants no spice at all, it's likely that bhunas, dopiazas, butter chicken and certainly not patias will suit. All are significantly more spicy than a korma IME.

TheFerretsSleeping · 04/02/2021 16:41

Live quite rural so limited choice. I've tried butter chicken out of a jar before and it was too spicy 😅 everyone I know jokes that I would find vinalla spicy. Once had to send back carbonra (spelling?) They had put to much pepper in it.

SpikeDearheart · 04/02/2021 16:46

Pasanda might suit? That's usually mild IME.

everydaysablessing · 04/02/2021 16:47

I'd go Chinese if you don't like spice and would order lemon chicken, duck pancakes, mushroom foo yung and some vegetable rice or noodles. Yum! I love Chinese but husband not a fan.

DavidsSchitt · 04/02/2021 16:49

@Jellycatspyjamas do you mean passanda? Pathia is hot

crumptrump · 04/02/2021 16:53

Chicken tikka masala or butter chicken aren’t spicy.

For Chinese what about trying a different type of sweet and sour? Sweet and sour King prawns Hong Kong style. Or lemon chicken, or orange duck. I like chicken satay but it does often have some spice in it! How about a duck with pancakes?

springwinterautumn · 04/02/2021 16:55

I hate spicy things too but if you tell the waiter they can usually tone it down for you. Or use yoghurt

DaphneBridgerton · 04/02/2021 16:56

Omg OP that's actually quite cute, bless you. I'd suggest sweet and sour chicken from the chinese :)

GameSetMatch · 04/02/2021 16:59

King prawn passanda is really mild, quite creamy, it’s made with red wine too so has a lovely richness to it.

LBunz · 04/02/2021 16:59

Chow Mein is a safe bet. My Chinese doesn’t do lemon chicken and I bloody love it! 😭 I’m also pregnant and now craving it damn it!!!

GameSetMatch · 04/02/2021 17:00

King prawn Fu young is and very mild almost tasteless...

TheFerretsSleeping · 04/02/2021 18:33

🤣 honestly if I use mint toothpaste my eyes water and I drool so much too. I'm liking the sound of the pasanda. Thank you everyone 😊

chicken kashmiri very mild with banana

AtleastitsnotMonday · 04/02/2021 18:59

Chicken with water chestnuts and bamboo shoots

nocoolnamesleft · 04/02/2021 20:03

Another vote for kashmiri as being very mild.
