What fun stuff can we get delivered for the family?

School holidays here next week, a whole week of nothingness stretching ahead of us. Can't see our family, can't do anything except go for walks.
There's me, Dh who will probably be working, and 3 kids age 9 to 14.

I fancy getting stuff delivered a few times during the week to cheer us up but I need some inspiration.

I've ordered an afternoon tea to come one day, they'll like that. Cakes and stuff.
I thought about an escape room kit.

Has anyone got any other great ideas? I wondered about some kind of craft kit that we could do together but I'm not sure where to look for such a thing. I fancy making some massive art for the wall or something but I'm not very imaginative. I need someone to tell us what to make.

Can anyone recommend any good cooking or baking kits?

We're all so sick of each other that if I suggest cooking together they'll roll their eyes and complain, but if something fun arrives in the post and it's not seen as my idea they will be more inclined to do it I think.

Any ideas welcome, thanks. I know there have been dozens of threads like this recently but I am so frazzled I can't face looking back at them all.

There's a company near me selling indoor marshmallow kits, expensive but cute

Hot tub. Bouncy castle.

OhioOhioOhio · 02/02/2021 16:34

One of those home cinema screens?

Rae36 · 02/02/2021 16:34

One kid is vegetarian so marshmallows may be tricky. But a hot tub, that's a great idea. Would it cost a fortune to keep hot in the winter though?

Fancy food maker type things. Candy floss, waffle, donut or something.

Rae36 · 02/02/2021 16:35

Actually I don't care how much it would cost, I'm going to see if we can hire one anyway. Its forecast to rain all week but who cares.

Jigsaw of a photo of you all? We did that & it's taking ages as it really hard!!

OhioOhioOhio · 02/02/2021 16:45

Loads of tins of foamie soap. Spray all around each other outside.

Bakedin kits from Amazon are good, lots of sweet treats.
If you want craft you could try mosaic kits or decoupage kits Amazon have them and I think hobby craft do delivery too.

Look up Jackson Pollock paintings, they're action art, all splashes and splodges, poured and sprayed.

You could use a large sheet of hardboard, rough side up, paint it with emulsion first in a neutral base colour.
Use emulsion or acrylics for your action painting. Work outside if possible. When it's dry, reinforce on the back with wooden struts before hanging.

If you have nerf guns, order loads of bullets (there nothing worse than having to collect them up to reload) remove all breakable things and have a full on nerf battle. You can make dens out of sheets and chairs/clothes horses etc. Balled up socks as hand grenades etc.

Some pottery parents painting places offer paint at home kits

thesandwich · 02/02/2021 16:51

Oops ignore parents!!!!

If it would interest your kids we have a pottery cafe near by where you can paint all sorts of ceramics, there are some lovely things and they fire them for you to set the glazes. In lock down they have been doing kits to do at home that you then drop back for firing.

Also, we had a great game at Christmas. I think it’s called ‘Don’t get got’. You play it over the course of a day, but whilst carrying on with your usual daily activity. Each player get 6 cards with secret missions and the winner is the first to complete 3 without being called out by other players. For example A mission may be to change an item of clothing and get someone to notice, borrow the same item 3x without them realising it’s a mission, convince someone an item is voice activated when it isn’t. I don’t know if explained that well but it was such a good laugh.

SoCrimeaRiver · 02/02/2021 16:52

Do the kids like board games? Maybe something more complex like Ticket to Ride rather than monopoly / cluedo.

BrieAndChilli · 02/02/2021 16:52

Kids got this for christmas. Is a decent size for early teens and better quality than I was expecting. Gets them off electronics

carriedaway · 02/02/2021 16:53

We hired a hot tub for a week at new year- kids age 8/10 would definitely recommend, just makes home feel a bit different & novel thing to all do together- put up a gazebo and some fairy lights and you’re off! Was £180 I think so quite frivolous but cheaper than a holiday! Lots of places do hire on Facebook. My brother did the same a few weeks after for his birthday 😀

Cross posts with thesandwich!

BunnyBerries · 02/02/2021 16:55

With kids that age I presume you have a games console? Maybe we could suggest some family games you could get for it if we know which one!

Margo34 · 02/02/2021 16:59

Play a game of family cluedo across the week. Every name goes into one bowl, another bowl naming enlufh locations/rooms at home for one each, and another bowl for objects enough for one each. Each player takes a name location and object discreetly and its their mission to 'murder' that player (tap them) in that location with that object.

So DD could get dad in the dining room with a book. E.g. Then dad is out and tells his person location and object to whomever killed him and the game continues. Last one standing at the end of the week is a winner.
