What fun stuff can we get delivered for the family?

School holidays here next week, a whole week of nothingness stretching ahead of us. Can't see our family, can't do anything except go for walks.
There's me, Dh who will probably be working, and 3 kids age 9 to 14.

I fancy getting stuff delivered a few times during the week to cheer us up but I need some inspiration.

I've ordered an afternoon tea to come one day, they'll like that. Cakes and stuff.
I thought about an escape room kit.

Has anyone got any other great ideas? I wondered about some kind of craft kit that we could do together but I'm not sure where to look for such a thing. I fancy making some massive art for the wall or something but I'm not very imaginative. I need someone to tell us what to make.

Can anyone recommend any good cooking or baking kits?

We're all so sick of each other that if I suggest cooking together they'll roll their eyes and complain, but if something fun arrives in the post and it's not seen as my idea they will be more inclined to do it I think.

Any ideas welcome, thanks. I know there have been dozens of threads like this recently but I am so frazzled I can't face looking back at them all.

Another thing we've been doing is getting tickets for online shows. If you can cast from a device or connect a laptop to the tv with an HDMI cable, everyone can watch in comfort.

Mischief Comedy's Movie Night in is fab, we've seen it twice now;

And I've bought tickets for Grimm Tales for the last weekend of the half term;

Things mine have done recently and really enjoyed, mainly from Xmas gifts, i didnt buy everything!!:
Tie dye kit
Whats in the box game
Plasticine do this stop motion kit which was way more fun than the £7 cost would suggest. Although could do with anything and there were lots of free apps to do the animation.
Domino run. We had a kit gifted, but could do with normal dominos and obstacles.
One day we had a massive party. Spent afternoon making decorations. Bought some neon light up balloons and party poppers on my tesco online shop. Made a cake also we have a candy grabber game so did challenges to 'win' a coin. Just filled it with leftover christmas chocolates. They loved winning, essentially what was their chocolate!!
Neon sign kit.
A local pizza place did pizza making kits, and we did a pizza making afternoon over zoom with friends.
Krispy Kreme doughnut decorating kit.

Fondue or raclette. We had a fondue the other night and kids loved it. Aldi had raclette kits in recently for about £20, there might still be a few around?

Indoor treasure hunt - you can get free printables on this or buy more extravagant ones to download and print at home.

Books on Amazon - paper planes to make or paper models

spababe · 08/02/2021 18:35

for exmple this is a free printable freyawilcox.co.uk/2018/02/challenging-treasure-hunt-adults/

joesev · 08/02/2021 20:20

We hired a yurt for my daughter's 18th. It was delivered and put up.in the garden. It was huge inside but only took up 4x4m . It had beds for x4 , lighting and bean bags and could be heated if necessary. It felt really special and wasn't really very expensive. We had a games night and a cocktail (mocktail) night. Xx

spagbog5 · 08/02/2021 20:57

Some fantastic ideas here
Lego sets have been very popular here along with a knitting kit from stitch and story.
I bought loads of journaling stuff from Amazon and dd15 loves doing a daily journal entry.
Soap making kit
Board games day
Last week we had a take away in tandem with my brother and his family and it was great fun.
Bath bomb making
All the above been hits here.

Could you get the Taskmaster book or look online for ideas for this sort of thing? Some of the TV programme can be a bit rude but that's the contestants talking, the tasks are quite savory.

@BrieAndChilli

Kids got this for christmas. Is a decent size for early teens and better quality than I was expecting. Gets them off electronics
@BrieAndChilli

Do you think my grandchildren, DGS(15) & DGD(11) would get use out of this?

They live rurally, if that helps!

Nanasueathome · 08/02/2021 21:03

Donut time do delivery
Everything included to decorate the ready made donuts
Lola’s cupcakes also deliver kits which include cupcakes and decorating bits

BrieAndChilli · 08/02/2021 21:03

@Westfacing mine are 10, 12 and 14 and all enjoy playing on it.

Bigsighall · 08/02/2021 21:04

Thanks for some great suggestions on here!
What about a blind tasting session?

Bunnybigears · 08/02/2021 21:07

Wow the price of the donut time DIY kits. I would just get some plain ring donuts from ASDA and some sprinkles etc and DIY your DIY kit!

Appuskidu · 08/02/2021 21:08

Can anyone recommend a company that makes a photo into a jigsaw? That’s a great idea.

Westfacing · 08/02/2021 21:12
@Westfacing mine are 10, 12 and 14 and all enjoy playing on it.
Thank you.

I'll order it as a Lockdown gift - a reward for getting on with home-schooling, without too much grief!

I've only seen them three times in the past year - but here's hoping the coming year will be better Smile

Umbongoumbongo999 · 08/02/2021 21:20

My first thought was easter egg cheesecakes to deliver the perfect sugar high with a dash of creativity.

Also, how about a Come Dine With Me, played in pairs so the youngest family members can participate. Each pair plans a 2 or 3 course meal, makes menus, organises entertainment. Give them a budget and make the shopping and choosing part of the fun. Everyone rates the meals with a prize for the winner.

Great thread - just ordered the 7 day mystery box thing!

Hi have arranged a valentines thing / few decs and chocs and cards for Sunday. Small gift.

Totally forgot it was half term even though I knew it was if that makes sense!

Tempted with the bath light and Krispy Kreme / keep looking at it as the donuts are amazing!

helpIhateclothesshopping · 09/02/2021 17:37

Lidl have waffle machines in this week for about £12.
How about a Come Dine with me competition, where each family member does dinner and entertainment for a different evening and the family choose a winner, or a Bake off afternoon and vote on who wins.
What about a stop motion animation, they are fairly time consuming. Make a film, using plasticine characters or Lego, whatever you have. The software/ green screen background kits can be quite cheap.
Taskmaster challenges also make a good family competition.

helpIhateclothesshopping · 09/02/2021 17:39

Pancake Day is coming up, that could also lend itself to designing new flavours, menus etc

helpIhateclothesshopping · 09/02/2021 17:40

Pizza making, you could make your own dough or buy bags of dough mix, everyone make their own, put a selection of toppings to choose from

AdditionalCharacter · 09/02/2021 17:45

Our local pottery place does home kits, so you can choose whatever you want to decorate it, take it home to paint, then return it for them to put it in the oven to glaze.

Krispy Creme do online orders of decorate your own donut kits.

Flackattack · 09/02/2021 21:00

Krispy Kremes were a no when I got past £15 - for £4 delivery - so £19 for 4 ring donuts. I like them - but not that much!!!
I’m looking for activities for younger children.
Some great earlier suggestions.
Looking at tie dye and slime making!
