What's lurking at the back of your freezer, will never get eaten but you can't bring yourself to sling it?

Inspired by the batch-cooking thread.

So I'll start...two big, whole sea bass completely with eyes, bones and scales , they've been in there for months and neither DH nor I feels up to the task of preparing them. Every time we inventory the freezer, they're there glaring reproachfully at us. They're too expensive to throw out, and we would actually enjoy them if we did something with them. So there they stay.

What's living rent-free in your freezer?

Scotch bonnet peppers. I grew them by mistake a couple of years ago (misread the label in the garden centre). I don’t really know what to do with them and everything I look at online leaves me faintly nervous. So they remain in icy stasis.

Amazing how many people have got breast milk they can't bear to throw away...it's so fucking precious when you're slogging away to pump enough of it, I can understand not wanting to throw it out!

My DH threw mine out. Tbf, I wasn't ever going to use it and it had been there for about a year before he threw it, but I was gutted. Expressing was really hard for me.

The last Christmas pudding my mother made about 20 years ago is in my dad’s freezer. He doesn’t keep a lot in there so it’s always on display. When he goes, I suppose it shall just move house.

It’s made me come over all emotional.

I've got half a tier of our wedding cake...it was a lovely cake but DH doesn't like the flavour of that tier (he ate pretty much the top tier himself) and due to DD having a dairy allergy and me BF her, no one in our house will eat it! Maybe I should donate it to someone in the wider family to get rid of it Grin

Vege-burgers. I ate 1 from a box of 4 but it wasn't very good, so even though I've been fully intending to use up the other three... It just hasn't happened at any point in the last 5 years.

I’m sensing that freezers are like lofts: full of deferred decisions and family keepsakes.
