Do you have a favourite gemstone or crystal ?

In no particular order of preference, I like rubies, sapphires and amethysts. These three, in their deepest but still transparent shades of red, blue and purple are a sight to behold and probably quite nice to own too. Diamonds are, obviously, expensive but being frequently colourless (not always), I find them less pleasing to the eye. Emeralds I can take or leave, depending on whether or not I like the shade of green.

I have loads of crystals. My husband had a beautiful Opal pendant set in gold made for me for Christmas. It’s beautiful.
Around the house I have large pieces , not overly large, like cathedrals,of amethyst, clear quartz, a big chunk chunk of orange calcite which is so beautiful. I love all the calcite range.
pink Opal..that is stunning, several chunks of selenite, several chunks of rose quartz .
Then I have my wands, a beautiful carved lapis one, one of my faves is Ruby in fuschite , I always go back to that, I have a gorgeous pyrite wand too.
I was in Glastonbury one year and there was lovely display of pyrites in the window of elestial. No wonder it’s called fools gold.
I have about 20 wands , all displayed clock fashion, tips pointed out.
I don’t have much in the kitchen..not enough space for food and gadgets, but there three displays in the main bedroom, some in one of the other bedroom and three displays in the lounge.
Two displays in the bathroom.
Some in the hall.
I’m literally running out of space.
I even have a display at the caravan.
I love a lot of the green crystals like zoisite, unikite, malachite, green fluorite mixed with purple is especially stunning

I have a healing corner in my lounge and it is a very peaceful place. You are surrounded by crystals, there’s an led oil diffuser lamp and with a bit of relaxing music on , you can sit there for hours.

@CroutonsAvatar

Clear quartz. I love pretty much all gemstones, but you hardly ever see clear quartz in jewellery.
I learnt to make my own jewellery. You can wire wrap a nice piece of clear quartz with some silver wire and hang it in a chain

@TwoZeroTwoZero

I don't think I've ever shared this photo anywhere so I'll post it here because it seems relevant. It's my favourite ring - an amethyst with 3 small diamonds on either side - given to me as a 21st birthday gift that I was trying to show off next to an amethyst geode. I love the colour and sparkle but rarely wear it because it stands too high on my finger and I worry about catching and breaking it.
That’s so pretty, I love amethyst, my birthstone too. Have to keep the big pieces out of the sun though as they can fade.
Dowser · 24/01/2021 07:08

Moonstone is gorgeous.
I have a white/ blue pendant my husband bought for me and I wore always until the Opal pendant turned up at Christmas.
I love the way the colour flashes a bit like a hologram..labradorite seems to have that same quality.
Put me in a crystal shop and I’m gone for hours, come out with my purse a lot lighter too.

I’m a turquoise girl, have a couple of rings, earrings, a bracelet and a necklace. Always on the lookout for the perfect sleeping beauty blue jewellery.

Not averse to a few diamonds either😀

Have to keep the big pieces out of the sun though as they can fade. Really? I didn't know that. I have a few earrings and pendants with really deep purple amethysts in so I'll bear that in mind, thank you.

I have a gold, ruby and diamond ring that belonged to my Mum; Dad gave it to me not long after she died as it was me that spied it in the jeweller's shop years ago. I have no use for it but I'm still keeping it.

Lapis lazuli. I adore the blue colour.
I love this too! I have a large lapis globe which looks like planet earth with gold mountains. It's gorgeous.
TheBadElfParade · 25/01/2021 11:02

I have a top 3

My Clear quartz Point -I like the simplicity of it and the way it clears my head.
Citrine - makes me smile. My partner loves his!
Rhodonite

AdoraBell · 25/01/2021 11:05

Sapphire, amethyst and emerald are my favourites.

AdoraBell · 25/01/2021 11:11

adrianemolesmole I’m envious of your globe, do you mind saying were you got it from please? I lived in Chile, lapis lazuli is mined there but we never bought one 😢🤦‍♀️

Yes it is. The stone itself don't cost a lot just the settings. I'm not a lover of gold but just loved the shape of the colouration in this piece

Beachhuts90 · 05/02/2021 17:54

I love sapphires, my engagement ring has one as its centre stone.

MirandaMarple · 05/02/2021 17:58

Emeralds. I have an emerald engagement ring and because green is also my favourite colour I have green diamonds in my wedding band.

claracluck1978 · 05/02/2021 18:02

I'm lucky enough to own lots of jewellery - both antique and modern. I can leave modern diamonds alone but old cuts with their slight off symmetry and colour draw me in.

Of the coloured stones, Citrines are 'my' signature stone and I have a few statement pieces (all retro or vintage where huge stones and yellow gold work well together).

But my favourite, that I don't have an example of, is tourmaline. So many hues from pink to green and blue. I, hunkering after a watermelon tourmaline right now - where the stone shades from green - white - pink like a , you guessed it, watermelon!

Bangable · 05/02/2021 19:05

Diamonds. Large ones Grin

Aquamarine
