Morning all! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just having my usual silent cuppa, in the kitchen. I'm alternating between scrolling MN and watching the birds in the big sycamore at the end of the garden.

I'm giving myself until 10am to piss about on t'interweb then I'm off to get dressed.

Laundry needs doing & the downstairs floors need mopping. I'm going to bake dd1's birthday cake, so I can decorate it tomorrow, ready for Monday.

Dd2 wants to bake something too but I don't know what yet.

Dd1 will likely spend much of the day in her room, as usual on a weekend.

Later on, dd1's (reluctantly) helping to cook - she's 14 on Monday so I figured it was time she tried since dd2 is quite able in the kitchen.

I'd like to squeeze in either some crochet or read some of my book too. Probably crochet - I'm so close to finishing all the Among Us crewmates I've been making!

What about you? :)

Still in bed with second coffee and Pain au choc. Vaccine shortly (care home) then need to do Aldi. DD1 wants to make bread so will get some stuff for that.
Need to feed my birds as I’ve just started that in lockdown boredom and am hoping to build up more visitors than the fat pigeon that currently comes.
Lots of washing to do and usual housework. Steak and chips for dinner with onion rings although I’m hankering after Thai but live rurally so no decent takeaways.
It’s a lovely day so far and if it stays bright I want a short walk. Hoping the vaccine doesn’t give me any side effects I’ve had Covid twice so I’m a little worried my body will over react and go mad when it recognises it again!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/01/2021 10:15

I've just got out the shower and I'm sitting in my towel contemplating getting dressed.

DS is going to his dad's today, ex is picking him up shortly. I'll go and do the food shop, then take the dog for a nice long walk. Then back home, hoover the house and binge watch something on Netflix. Family quiz night tonight on Zoom and a couple of drinks.

Gottalovesummer · 23/01/2021 10:19

DH is making scrambled eggs for breakfast. The teenagers are up already, what a shocker, maybe they smelt breakfast cooking.

I work from home all week as a childminder so need to do a good clean today and also got laundry and food shop to do.

Easy dinner and telly planned for tonight.

Purplewithred · 23/01/2021 10:23

Isolating. Struggling. Adult dc is stuck here too, all rubbing along ok but it's not helping our marriage (not Dhs child).

will pull myself together, map out the day to keep busy, grit teeth and carry on. 7 days to go.

Grateful for being asymptomatic, having lovely friends to help, and good baseline mental health.

housemdwaswrong · 23/01/2021 10:25

Boring day here. No kids, but replace that with elderly parents and not poles apart.

Just got up, was absolutely exhausted yesterday (maybe after covid jab?), so quiet start.

Am going to work on my book (which will never get published, but I always wanted to try and have time now so why not).

So.parent tech (fix tv/tablet/mobile/whatever they have pressed a ring button on), then check cars are okay (anti freeze, oil, take for 20.minute run). Food delivery later so try and keep mum busy (dementia) while I put the food away. Wraps for tea after delivery, and that's about it.

Bet you all feel so much more fulfilled for reading that. :)

Howmanysleepsnow · 23/01/2021 10:26

I’m about to walk the dog in the snow. DC will come with me. I’ve got lots of laundry to do so will put some on before I go. DS7 has some English to catch up on from yesterday and DS8 has PHSE from the day before so will do those. Hoping to find time for a long bath and to read my book in front of the fire. Tonight we’ll watch masked singer as my youngest DS loves it. Not sure what to make for dinner, but I may need to go to the shops to buy ingredients.

Kljnmw3459 · 23/01/2021 10:27

I'm going to the shop with DC. DH works today so I've no choice. I'm already annoyed about it.later on the DC will go on a screen so I get some quiet time. Then we will have the usual arguments about snacks, sharing screens, TV, getting some exercise, dinner, brushing teeth and going to sleep. I wish I could go for a nice brisk walk all by myself....

Sassanacs · 23/01/2021 10:29

Some coursework and planning on stripping the paint off the bannisters once I've got the kids washed and dressed with an iPad under their noses

dementedma · 23/01/2021 10:29

Still in bed. Probably spend most of the day here as nowt else to do

movingonup20 · 23/01/2021 10:32

In bed, putting off facing the world trying to make the biggest decision of the day - whether to walk clockwise or anti-clockwise on the loop around our town from our house! Might have a pastry from the local bakery too so f the queue isn't too long

justaweeone · 23/01/2021 10:32

Took the 17 year old to work, came home and had breakfast. About to start some coursework, must stop procrastinating!
Will pick Ds up from work at 4pm then will make a curry for dinner. Tonight wine and a movie with Dh. Rock n roll!

Thesagacontinues · 23/01/2021 10:38

Contemplating whether to blow dry and straighten my hair, or let it be its natural mess Confused

Going to go out shortly to get baking soda and vinegar to unblock the downstairs toilet. (Ds filled it with too much loo roll and this is the easy way out).

No other plans, feeling a bit fed up.

GintyMcGinty · 23/01/2021 10:38

Breakfast just now.

Sledging.

Ironing.

Movie night.

gingercat02 · 23/01/2021 10:41

@LadyCatStark Enola Holmes is great! Weirdly feeling very hungover after 1/2 bottle of wine last night. So generally doing nothing so far. Need to get ds outside at somepoint. Still very frosty here but sunny so probably just another bloody a walk locally. Football on telly tonight so I will probably disappear upstairs with my book

buckeejit · 23/01/2021 10:43

Dusting of snow here. Up early due to dry January, went for a 7k (steps not km!) walk & came home & dragged a lot of stuff out of the hotpress in a bid to cut down on all the towels & bedding we don't use.

I just had first cuppa while starting my 4-5 hour session of married at first sight Australia. Will chop up some celeriac in a bit to make another batch of soup.

I love the home disco idea. DD would love that. I wonder if it would be better to schedule it in a couple of weeks when I can drink!

InsufferableLKIA · 23/01/2021 10:48

@housemdwaswrong (err, what’s with your username, House was ALWAYS RIGHT GrinGrin)
Yep, genuinely do feel a bit happier reading about everyone else’s day, I don’t know what it is about these threads but they’re one of my favourite bits of the weekend Smile I know your comment was tongue-in-cheek but yes I actually DID enjoy reading it 😝 I wish you an on-time food delivery with no substitutions 🤣

Me: just finished my second coffee so it’s time to get going and be productive. Hoping I can take the DC for a mini bike ride (DS has just learnt to ride) while DH goes to the garden centre. We need seeds!

I need to stick a wash on and one of us will run the hoover round.

Pasta for tea later and then might see if DH wants to play a game once the DC are in bed. I got the JAWS board game for Christmas which we haven’t tried yet.

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 23/01/2021 10:51

So far, sitting in my warm bed watching the snow.
Waiting for kids to wake up.
Knitting a bit more of a present for a friend having a new baby soon.

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 23/01/2021 10:53

Buckeejit
If your walking strides are about a metre, then 7k could be steps or kms?

riotlady · 23/01/2021 10:54

Had toast for breakfast and watched a bit of Frozen (as we do every day!) with DD. Threw some washing in the machine then piled into her bed to read stories. She’s going to help me make a pasta bake for lunch and then we’ll maybe go for a short walk.

CornishPastyDownUnder · 23/01/2021 11:09

Just finished work on emergency cover shift at supported housing unit(disability sector). Busy day meeting new service users/staff, but pretty casual as its the weekend so plenty of time to talk too. Seeing how company model translates across sector interesting..
Managed to leave half hour early, drove home the scenic route past the beach its32' here and last weekend of school hols so was still busy at 6pm..picked up DCs and went to grab a takeaway, watched Netflix together. Day off tomorrow-heading to the beach.

Mochatatts · 23/01/2021 11:21

Sat with my second brew of the morning. Waiting for the in laws to throw a card at the house for OHs eldests birthday, obviously not coming in. Grateful the 4 boys slept in til after 9am.
Planning to walk, alone, to the supermarket for a cake. We've had 2 birthdays this month and neither child had a cake, as with other parents. Can't have a birthday and not have cake.
Trying not to be irritated by the running commentary on Minecraft 2 of the boys are playing. OHs youngest is whinging, for a change, he's bored.
My eldests is on his phone having stropped at being asked to get dressed. Kids

Gilead · 23/01/2021 11:24

I had a bad day with gallstones yesterday so am still a bit sluggish from painkillers. I will be having a slow day. Shower, sort rubbish, maybe kitchen floor.

Ozgirl75 · 23/01/2021 11:27

Well it’s Saturday evening here (Sydney) so I’ve already had my day. It was nice. Up and a cuppa in the garden. Took kids to golf club where they went on the driving range. Home for lunch and then went in the pool and played a bit of backyard cricket. Fish on the BBQ for dinner and then took the telescope out as it’s so clear tonight.
Boiling hot here so we’re out on the water tomorrow.

StCharlotte · 23/01/2021 11:27

DH just gone for a big walk with his brother so I'm on my own hurrah!

Having a lazy day. Just lit the fire and plan to spend the day reading in front of it. Just enjoying tea and toast first

Tesco delivery due this afternoon at some point. Did the order so long ago I have no idea what will be coming! I fear as it was the beginning of January it will be lots of healthy stuff and no treats - boo!

Will probably start another box set tonight. Watched Goliath last weekend which we really enjoyed.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/01/2021 11:43

Hello, it is Saturday, so I am cleaning. DH has done the weekly shopping and will make tortellini for our midday meal.
DS is still asleep and will probably read or game when he finally wakes up. DD is reading for uni. DH is working in his office.

That's it.
