Dead celebs of 2020.
Food & drink.
World capitals.
Book quotes.
History.

UpShuttheFuck · 22/01/2021 15:56

A connections round is usually fun.

Just devise 9 simple questions which should all appear totally random and then q10 is "what connects all these answers?"

It works quite well for music.

For example if the answers were Hand, Pepper, Please, Octopus, Apple, 4, Abbey, Strawberry and Penny then the connection would be The Beatles.

ThreeKneeRepeater · 22/01/2021 15:58

First/last lines of well known films, songs or books.

Famous people when they were younger
Guess the price of ten items from a supermarket
Flags
Capital cities
A relative recently did where’s Wally. They had photo shopped pictures of family members on to a where’s Wally page and we had to find them.

Adults only we had a quiz round called polish or porn so we had to guess if it was a nail varnish colour or the title of a porn film. Kids rounds could be clues to guess the film.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/01/2021 16:11

Ooh I saw a brilliant quiz round idea recently - look up paint names like Farrow & Ball etc.. list them, and then the quiz participants have to guess the colour of the paint from the name.

Some great ideas here.

Last time I cheated and found some ready-made questions online. The celebrity children round in this link was very popular:

Disney movies

SoupDragon · 22/01/2021 16:19

On the Scott Mills show they do a quiz and one of the rounds recently was "mariachi covers of famous songs". They've also done foreign covers. Both were trickier than you might think!

fussychica · 22/01/2021 16:24

Find a song which has been covered by lots of people. Play an excerpt from said song and ask people to guess the group or singer and repeat. Popular in our house and sometimes much harder than you might think.

bluecheesefan · 22/01/2021 16:29

Fruit and veg varieties. You'd never believe how many types there are. Name several varieties and they have to guess which vegetable or fruit it is.

Potatoes would be easy (King Edwards, Maris Piper, Rooster, Golden Wonder) for instance.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 22/01/2021 16:31

My favourite round is when a YouTube video is played of things on a conveyor belt - was it the generation game? "A cuddly toy!"

LadyOfTheFlowers · 22/01/2021 16:31

Pens down to watch then a minute to write as many as you can down

Rainbowshine · 22/01/2021 16:42

Really tricky spot the difference between two pictures, you can find some online.

MrsFionaCharming · 22/01/2021 16:48

You can go on a supermarket website and get the ingredients list for common biscuits (bourbons, custard creams, nice biscuits etc), and have people guess the biscuit from the ingredients.

bluecheesefan · 22/01/2021 16:57

How many legs? - wildlife round.

devildeepbluesea · 22/01/2021 17:02

We do a regular quiz. Some of the best rounds have been:

  • guess the landmark based on a photo screenshotted from Google maps satellite mode
  • guess the album cover
  • guess the quiz show / sitcom from the theme tune
  • guess the TV show from a still of an empty set
  • guess the musical instrument from the sound clip
  • guess the object from a really really close up photo
TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 22/01/2021 17:03

Richard Osman's House of Games has some fab rounds.

Distinctly Average is a pairs game - each player guesses their answer to an impossible to know off the top of your head question (how many supermarkets are there in the UK?) and the pair's answer is the average of the total when you add the two guesses together. The pair nearest the correct answer wins.

(Obviously, you have to choose questions YOU can find the answer for online - how high is Everest in feet or something).

OhToBeASeahorse · 22/01/2021 17:04

A theme and then 10 clues. E.g. if the theme was 'Roman and greek myths'tou would do name the chocolate bar, the delivery company, the sports brand etc etc.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 22/01/2021 17:07

My teens have been doing quiz nights with friends ... a good round was a scavenger hunt. Find something home made .... something that smells nice .... something beginning with B etc. 2/3 min to find it and bring back to the screen.

sheslittlebutfierce · 22/01/2021 17:09

Flags, Collective Nouns, the news this week

jiggetyjig · 22/01/2021 17:10

If you are able to play audio, then you can play snippets of different national anthems and everyone has to guess which country they belong to.

MeOldBamboo · 22/01/2021 17:10

I did a great one recently: Ikea or Scandinavian swear word. Pick some classics from the Ikea catalogue then look up Swedish swear words and mix it up. My whole department was in fits!!
