Just that - very excited and want to share 😁

Thank you. Dh had the Oxford AstraZeneca one yesterday and was saying he had a headache and felt nauseous in the night, sounds like it’s fairly standard though.

Lepetitpiggy · 22/01/2021 08:01

Had mine on Tuesday and it really felt emotional. Just had a sore arm for a day and sneezed a bit! It was the Pfizer one

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 22/01/2021 08:03

It's exciting! I will be last on the list to have mine as not in any vulnerable groups. I fully expect to feel crappy after mine though, I had the pneumonia vaccine a couple of years ago and that made me feel really strange too.

I’ve had the Pfizer one. Felt fine for the first 24 hours and then very tired and under the weather for a day. No pain anywhere. All good. Bring on the next!

ClinkyMonkey · 22/01/2021 08:06

Yay!

My 87yo mum had hers on Wednesday (the Oxford one). No side effects at all. She only got it, though, because I rang the GP surgery about something unrelated and asked when she might hear about the vaccine. I was told I could take her to a local church for it that afternoon. Glad I asked!

Nyancat · 22/01/2021 08:13

Pfizer one, really sore arm for a couple of days and lightheaded the day after I got it, nothing awful though and so pleased to have had it

Abraxan · 22/01/2021 08:22

@ioffernothing

Lucky you. Some of us are in jobs where we are at risk and can't get it.
You have no idea why the op has been called up.

Well as the OP has been called up now it's safe to assume that OP is in an at risk category too - either through health, age or occupation.

I'm sure once your category is called up you will also go and get yours.

I'm clinical,y vulnerable and work in a jib with no,social, distancing, masks, etc. Whilst I can't wait to be vaccinated I'm not going to be annoyed with other people who are eligible to have theirs first.

Brightwell12 · 22/01/2021 08:24

I had mine 3 weeks ago, so pleased that my elderly relatives have either had or are getting theirs soon, I'm out giving vaccines to housebound patients today. Feels like we are getting somewhere.
I had the Pfizer vaccine & just had a sore arm for a couple of days, have heard some people who have had the AstraZeneca vaccine have had headaches & nausea.

mummyof4kids · 22/01/2021 08:34

I'm having mine on Sunday. I work on a covid ward up close to covid patients before anyone asks why I'm eligible.
I know a few colleagues who have had theirs and felt rubbish after but it's better than catching covid and being on a ventilator

pointythings · 22/01/2021 08:48

I had mine yesterday - Oxford Astra Zeneca. Am feeling rough today, but coping with OTC painkillers. Arm is sore and I have a bad headache but hell, it's worth it.

CommunistLegoBloc · 22/01/2021 08:54

DP had his a few weeks ago (and it was the first time I'd felt pure joy in a very long time...) He felt rubbish for 12 hours too, and anecdotally it seems people who have had covid (either asymptomatically or otherwise) have a mild reaction to the first dose.

MrsTaytodarling · 22/01/2021 09:22

Yay! I had Pfizer 2 weeks ago and no effects whatsoever. It's a great feeling, enjoy Grin

AppleCinnamonVanilla · 22/01/2021 09:29

I had the Pfizer vaccine two weeks ago, frontline NHS.
Sore arm for 24 hours, but that’s nothing compared to the alternative.

laurely · 22/01/2021 09:30

Had mine last Friday . Felt achy and Nauseous for a couple of days . Arm quite sore . Still glad I had it .

AppleCinnamonVanilla · 22/01/2021 09:30

Good for you op, btw.
I know I felt immense relief after having it done šŸ™‚.

thebabessavedme · 22/01/2021 09:39

Never have I felt so excited for a medical treatment, I'm in the over 50s camp so a way down the line for me. My DPs have had theirs this week and not reported any side effects. I am just so excited that we can see way to start living again. Would like to see all emergency workers and teachers get one as a matter of urgency.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 22/01/2021 09:40

I am really pleased for you! I hope that if you do have side effects that they are only mild. @ioffernothing I don't normally answer negative posts but I think what you posted was really mean spirited. I am sorry that you are in a job where you feel at risk but that is not the op's fault and as others have pointed out she has either been selected for the vaccination due to being deemed vulnerable or in a very high risk job. It is not nice to rain on someone else's parade! I hope that you get the vaccine as soon as you can though.

zafferana · 22/01/2021 09:44

My DPs (70s) had theirs this week and my DSis (40s, medical worker) had hers about three weeks ago. All had Pfizer and said they had a sore arm for 24 hours, but no other ill effects.

MPForFlydaleNorth · 22/01/2021 09:48

Me too! I'm fully prepared to feel a bit rough afterwards, as a few colleagues have felt groggy and nauseous, but as a pp said, much better than the alternative

Els1e · 22/01/2021 09:56

Yea 🄳 My mum is today too. Sooooo 😃

Meandyouandyouandme · 22/01/2021 11:19

I had mine on Wednesday, the Oxford one, I must admit I was very emotional as I pulled into the car park at The Eithad, and that’s not because I’m a City fan Smile the organisation was amazing, no waiting at all. Everyone was so helpful, I felt a bit down yesterday, but I think that is lockdown effects rather than the vaccine.

Nacknick · 22/01/2021 11:38

So, all done! And glad to see everyone else is excited.
I was totally over emotional and couldn’t stop crying which was slightly embarrassing- everyone else seemed to be taking it in their stride šŸ˜‚
So so happy, nearly a year of shielding and being worried about dying - it feels like the beginning of the end šŸ¤žšŸ»

blobbyface · 22/01/2021 11:43

I had mine a week ago. Had high temperature and headache next day. Day after that I was ok.

underneaththeash · 22/01/2021 11:45

I'm having mine this afternoon and I then have my volunteer vaccinator training tomorrow - so hoping to not feel rubbish in the morning.

Nacknick · 22/01/2021 12:52

Thank you for volunteering @underneaththeash - i’m so grateful to everyone who is helping out šŸ’
