A lot of mumsnetters post details of houses they like or dislike. Has your home ever been discussed.

Slightly off tangent, but I was filmed for a BBC program in my home. I spent hours meticulously tidying and cleaning it, despite my cats best efforts to sabotage it by depositing a bloody great big rat on my kitchen floor and being sick on the rug! My house was, imo, nicely decorated and presented. I love interior design.
When the program aired, unbeknownst to me, they had recreated scenes using a body double in the most dismal house filled with 1970s/80s decor! The bedroom had red and black diagonal striped wall paper and a matching duvet. The rest of the House was a mishmash of mustard and brown. I was then inundated with messages from friends/strangers commenting upon 'my house'. To top it off my stunt body double, had an even bigger arse than mine and wore trousers with pink flamingos on them! In other scenes, 'my husband and I' wore matching tartan pyjamas and long navy blue dressing gowns!! People still think that I live in that house!!

But mine made national news 30 or so years ago and once, when I was browsing through an old copy of "Who's Who" I found my actual address.

You know we need to know why it made the news right? grin

I know everybody says how identifying things like their husband's mysterious hobbies are, but this was a very big news story at the time and would be very easily Googled.

The "Who's Who" thing was a bit of a shock though. However the fact that the telephone number quoted in the book remained ours explained some odd calls we had when we first moved in.
Quickly got it changed!

I have no idea why they did that!! It had certainly not been discussed (otherwise I would have insisted that my stunt bottom double had a smaller arse than mine and wore pyjamas from The White Company). It was one of those dire 999 sort of programmes. They wanted to interview us about something that happened to us, but had spliced the video with recreations of scenes! It was so dire. We had lots of online comments about the state of our house (trapped in the 1970s, David Hasslehoff would be at home in that bedroom etc). Thankfully no comments about the size of 'my' arse though. Every so often they re run the episode and I suddenly get a barrage of texts from people I know taking the proverbial!
