A lot of mumsnetters post details of houses they like or dislike. Has your home ever been discussed.

@GiantKitten Why on earth would they do that to the beautiful garden. Hideous! I suppose people can do what they like but honestly, a nod to the wildlife (and taste) wouldn't go amiss.

@AtLeastThreeDrinks I know Sad
They’ve removed all the character, inside and out. It’s a huge slick shiny geometric grey wasteland.
(With a cinema...)

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 19/01/2021 17:46

God, that’s so sad. The current version looks like
Tosser HQ.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 19/01/2021 17:53

Well, before I figured out how to do a link with a different name, I did a thread while selling my last house. Address right in the link. So outing! Mortifying.

By the time I was hunting for this house I could at least disguise the address.

Posters were really helpful though, and have me so much encouragement through the ordeal.

YouokHun · 19/01/2021 20:43

I don’t know about property porn but that house now looks like a porn film set. It’s a hideous grey velvet covered nightmare. These sort of houses don’t even look like it’s someone’s taste, just a copy and paste blingy show home look with no signs of life; it’s soulless. Ugly building before and after IMO.

Ratched · 19/01/2021 20:47

Yes.
My house was shown on here. The poster was asking whether they should buy mine, or the other.
It was fifty fiftyish, I think mine was slightly ahead, but she clearly jumped the other way 😁
We sold it anyway!

Roussette · 19/01/2021 20:49

But I have often wondered if anyone has recognised their home on here

I have been on here for a very long time. Years and years ago someone put up a link to a property and everyone chipped in saying how ghastly it was and basically ripped it to shreds.

The owner came on, I honestly think it was really the owner, it was so long ago before so many trolls on here. She was really really annoyed and upset and everyone just sort of slunk off....
😲

TheRealLadyWhistledown · 19/01/2021 21:07

Following with interest

thisgirlcanmoveon · 19/01/2021 21:10

The house next door but one had a whole thread about it. It’s still not sold 😂

Waxonwaxoff0 · 19/01/2021 21:11

God no. I live in a 2 bed Victorian semi.

LaMarschallin · 19/01/2021 21:17

No.

But mine made national news 30 or so years ago and once, when I was browsing through an old copy of "Who's Who" I found my actual address.

AethelsWhiteGoose · 19/01/2021 21:29

Not on here, but we sold our last house to a minor celeb who did a downstairs knock through/open plan project. She had a feature in Hello magazine and gushed about how she got an amazing deal on the house (she didn’t) and that we were ‘desperate’ to leave (true as third baby on the way and the next door couple were constantly arguing).

I would have missed it but my Nan phoned me up to tell me my old house was in Hello so I popped out and a bought a copy.

jollygreenpea · 19/01/2021 23:29

It's hard to believe that's the same house, and that beautiful garden destroyed, what is wrong with people.

Workyticket · 19/01/2021 23:32

My mam and dad's house was - on a should I buy this one or that one thread?

picklemewalnuts · 20/01/2021 09:38

Is the first link still working for everyone else? The house as it used to be? I think they may have had it taken down...

picklemewalnuts · 20/01/2021 09:45

I've found it now. What a shame.

Mumdiva99 · 20/01/2021 09:57

@GiantKitten I completely agree with you. The before is so much nicer. I actually love not all that far away from the house....as I guess a few of you do.....

How were you able to bring up the old details? Do you have a special log in to right move? Or is it just a search function?

icebearforpresident · 20/01/2021 10:53

No, and if it was people would have things to say about my living room wallpaper 😁.

I’m an estate agent and always click these threads a mixture of slight fear/excitement that a house I’m selling is featured. We had a house that we were bringing on a while ago that was a real fixer upper; lime green walls, swirley carpets, different texture of artex in every room, the works! It was prime for a ‘check out THIS house on RM thread’ and it ended up being sold off market. I was disappointed I never got to see the reaction.

MedusasBadHairDay · 20/01/2021 10:58

@LaMarschallin

No.

You know we need to know why it made the news right? Grin
picklemewalnuts · 20/01/2021 11:10

Mum diva, I searched for cloudberry, walnut tree, and got a list of possibles. The only one sold in 2016 is it.

GiantKitten · 20/01/2021 11:22

@Mumdiva99
Scroll to the bottom of the front page of any house on Rightmove and click on Property sale history, and then Go to nearby sold prices, and it’ll list everything in the same postcode that has a sale record.
If the house you’re looking at has sold in the last few years you might see its previous listing, but also often you’ll just get the current images; I think in this case the old ones were still there because the current sellers have given the house a name, so it seems like a different property.

Property Porn. Have you seen your house on Mumsnet.
GiantKitten · 20/01/2021 11:29

@Mumdiva99
Oh wait - they haven’t given it a name! I got confused! But still often when you look up a previous sale you’ll see the new images.
(IT’S SOLD STC!!! Shock )

BringMeTea · 20/01/2021 11:51

Oh God the ripping out of that garden makes me feel ill. Genuinely should not be allowed. Tacky fuckers.

VinylDetective · 20/01/2021 11:59

Yes, just looked. That poor house and garden, absolutely ruined. And who the hell puts a velvet ottoman smack in the middle of a utility room?
GiantKitten · 20/01/2021 12:26

I wonder if it was inaccessible briefly while they added the SOLD STC?

(Also wonder if agent encouraged the buyer by showing them all the Rightmove views? Grin)
