If instead of Eton our politicians had been to Hogwarts which houses would the sorting hat have put them into?

I reckon Boris Johnson - Hufflepuff (sorry Huffflepuffs but he has to go somewhere)

Rishi Sunak - Ravenclaw

Priti Patel -Slytherin

Tories in Gryffindor? Ha Ha.

Many are called but few are chosen.

Cattitudes · 15/01/2021 18:39

@RafaIsTheKingOfClay

Rees-Mogg is definitely in Slytherin. He's got the look of a slytherin about him.
Yes you feel as if the hat would barely brush the hair on the top of his head before it declared.

Corbyn would be some elvish creature of the woods Hagrid pulled out of his arse

I was never a Harry Potter fan past 10 or so but I always thought they had such a measly bit of woodland to say it was fantasy land-a bit of bloody wasteland around back. Wizard land should be 80 woodland at least.

user1471565182 · 15/01/2021 19:50

Isnt Reece Mogg Catholic? he wouldnt go near all that.

peak2021 · 15/01/2021 20:20

If they had been to Hogwarts maybe they would have been expelled.

Sittinbythetree · 15/01/2021 20:46

Hancock definitely a hufflepuff. Corbyn would have probably refused to go.

What? What are you on about?
user1471565182 · 16/01/2021 09:49

I meant 80%

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 16/01/2021 14:23

Why should wizard land be 80% woodland? How do you know it's not? The forbidden forest is huge? Are you talking about Diagon alley? In central London??

Well he went to a private primary school and sent his kids to private school so I doubt that.

He'd be Voldemort's thicker brother though.

You do realise that the film wasn't shot at the real Hogwarts don't you? Fairly substantial lake too, especially for a state school.

What else do you have in wizards world except trees? you cant have Bradford in fantasy land

I thought the forbidden forest was small they were always wandering into people in there?

we had a forbidden forest at school. The alchy English teacher went there to drink and smoke and we caught him crying and talking to himself in a high pitched Irish accent in there (he wasnt Irish). Pure fantasia.

Was just coming on to say Rees-Mogg would be Slytherin but see it’s so glaringly obvious it’s already been suggested. Could also easily picture him as Nagini.

I see JRM more as Professor Binns, the teacher who died years ago and didn’t notice, and just kept boring on about the goblin rebellions as a ghost.

It annoys me when people say Hufflepuffs are kind and loyal. They're not at all! You've got some horrible people in Hufflepuff! It's the house where you go when you're not brave/ evil or clever

But they’re supposed to be, aren’t they? Loyalty and hard work are supposedly what the Hat sorts for, just as it supposedly chooses the bravest ones for Gryffindor — though lots of Gryffindors don’t seem particularly brave, like Lavender Brown or Colin Creevey..

What a stupid thing to say. Loyalty, kindness is what the hat sorts and are just as valuable characteristics as bravery, cleverness and ambition. Hufflepuffs are the most accepting. Plus each house has its negatives. Ambition=not caring who you step on. Bravery=hot headed and rash. I'd much rather be a hufflepuff who is kind than any of the others. And wouldn't you rather have a hufflepuff friend? Tonks and Cedric were both hufflepuffs.
Arrierttyclock · 18/01/2021 09:49

Justin finch fletchly and Ernie McMillan are 2 Hufflepuffs that spring to mind. They weren't very kind. It just seems to me it's the house where you go when you don't fit into any other house.

Biscoffaddict · 18/01/2021 09:50

Oh yeah. Priti Patel, Raab and Gove are definitely Slyterin’s!

GavsCloakOfInvisibility · 18/01/2021 09:53

Gryffindors are not all brave, Slytherins are not all evil, Hufflepuffs are not all kind. Can't think of an unintelligent Ravenclaw though.

Bluesername · 18/01/2021 10:01

Blair = Voldemort

Cattitudes · 18/01/2021 12:07

What about Trump?

I think that is my issue with both Trump and Boris in Slytherin. I see the ambition, but cunning? Strong leadership? Thinking with their heads? More toddler tantrum than cunning. I could almost see an argument for Gryffindor for Boris, he is fairly loyal even when it isn't justified (Cummings), brave -dashing in without thinking, emotional. I guess with all of these things, the sorting hat has to reach a compromise.
