How do you keep your feet warm when sitting still?

How do you keep your feet and legs warm when sitting still for ages at a desk or table?

I work at a lovely old wooden desk (similar to the picture, but nicer Grin) so I really don't want to put a strong heater near it, as I worry the heat might damage it. I don't want a fan heater as the floor is currently bare concrete and I don't want to blow dust around.

I'm considering a small, oil-filled electric radiator, a heat pad on the floor to put my feet on it, or a heated boot thing.

Please help me choose. What are the pros and cons?

Would a hot water bottle not do the job?

CaptainCarp · 10/01/2021 21:23

I make sure there is carpet / rug underneath my desk & wear slippers.

catnoir1 · 10/01/2021 21:25

Slipper socks.

CaffeineInfusion · 10/01/2021 21:26

Concrete is cold. I would need a rug, or carpet square and socks!

percheron67 · 10/01/2021 21:27

Hottie bottie.

RippleEffects · 10/01/2021 21:27

Slippers currently. Previously I had a little stool thing so my feet were off the ground. Makes a massive difference.

LegendDairy · 10/01/2021 21:28

Sheepskin slippers

purpleme12 · 10/01/2021 21:32

I have reynauds so it's very very hard
Basically the thing that works best though is the plug in heater (which they make look like a pretend fire, that kind) and the heat blows out the bottom where your feet are. So good for feet
Hot water bottles often aren't strong enough for my feet. Nice for my body but not really for my feet

FoofOfTheWalkingDead · 10/01/2021 21:35

I've got a pair of these bad boys aura que slippers that I wear with these socks bridgedale.

chipsandgin · 10/01/2021 21:35

Celtic boots (or any UGG style genuine sheepskin boots, but the Celtic knee highs are amazing & made in the UK). That and moving as much as possible. I have Reynauds and very poor circulation, which I need to try and make better by moving more generally..but meanwhile I have three pairs of the Celtics & am barely out of them in winter. Definitely also get a rug or floor covering of some sort, concrete won’t be helping!

Socks and fluffy slippers.
My feet are never cold but my hands get freezing - I'm considering fingerless gloves..

RandomMess · 10/01/2021 21:36

The heated boot thing ☺️

noscoobydoodle · 10/01/2021 21:37

Heat pad that goes on the floor-bit like underfloor heating and is my preferred method with a pair of thick socks. I find the heater blows my papers or burns my feet and a hot water bottle goes cold too quickly. I also have a pair of UGG boots which are a good second best.

travailtotravel · 10/01/2021 21:37

My feet rest on a box and I wear thick fluffy socks.

Toilenstripes · 10/01/2021 21:38

Sheepskin lined moccasins. 🥰

noscoobydoodle · 10/01/2021 21:39

I also have a heated throw and a heated pad for my back (all plug in) I don't always need these, but my feet are always cold whatever the weather and the foot heat mat was a game changer for me!

Redwinestillfine · 10/01/2021 21:40

Sheepskin boots

RandomMess · 10/01/2021 21:40

Electric throw over your legs and feet too!

HouseofBrieandBanter · 10/01/2021 21:41

Uggs

The rubber sole stops the cold creeping up, the sheepskin keeps feet warm

Also get up and move around a bit every hour

Moving is the most important thing to keep circulation going. Doing calf stretches whilst seated every now and then also helps pump the blood around (some call the calf muscles the “second heart” for their ability to help pump blood through the body )

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 10/01/2021 21:41

Thick slippers. Dogs. Heated electric blanket.

But also make sure you’re not in a draft and that you are sitting on top of a rug or carpet.

TheFlis12345 · 10/01/2021 21:41

Ugg boots, SO warm and cozy!

noscoobydoodle · 10/01/2021 21:42

I think I would forget I had the boot on and fall over when I tried to get up!

lljkk · 10/01/2021 21:45

Why don't you at least have a rug underneath?

I had fur lined boots at one point, but hot water bottles otherwise if at home.

Lemonpiano · 10/01/2021 21:51

Insulation. Bare concrete will be the main reason your feet are cold.

Also, staying hydrated. My feet are more sensitive to the cold when I'm dehydrated.

justjuggling · 10/01/2021 21:52

Bedsocks and slippers.
