Where do you buy your kids clothes?

My boys are aged 7 and 8 and tall and slim. Marks and Spencer's stuff comes up short in the leg and too big around the waist, I've had a few bits from the supermarkets...where else can I try?
Help?????

Forgot to say I'm not looking for anything designer or expensive. Just reasonably priced jeans, joggers, t shirts etc. And better still if they are tumble dryer friendly!

I find next and gap best for tall and slim ds

Asda & M&S are always too wide and short

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 10/01/2021 20:46

I found George at Asda's sizing was very good for my tall and slim sons. There is good stuff to be had, you just have to pick through the hideous...

Gap for skinny DD

rachll · 10/01/2021 21:01

Great, I'll be having a look at Next and Gap. Asda has been hit and miss for me but I'll have a look.

Any more internet friendly (with easy returns) options now that we're in lockdown? Such a pain not being able to shop and try things on!

H&M?

SardineJam · 10/01/2021 21:02

Zara

Mintjulia · 10/01/2021 21:08

H&M for my DS. He's very skinny.

rachll · 10/01/2021 21:10

@SardineJam have you found Zara good for tall, slim kids? Will have a look...

Thanks @Daisy829 and @Mintjulia - do you find H&M stuff good quality? I tried them a couple of years ago and the zips became stuck after a few washes, and the material was a bit thinShock

I get all my DS’ clothes from Next. They’re both tall and slim. Great quality, wash well, some really nice colours and styles. If you sign up for a directory account and a delivery pass for £20 for the year, you can get any returns picked up by Hermes and as many deliveries as you want. Next online is so much better than in the shops.

rachll · 10/01/2021 21:18

@mnahmnah - another vote for Next- thank you! I'm not sure why I've never tried it before- off for a look online now!

@rachll yes, my son is very skinny with long legs

SFCA · 10/01/2021 21:23

Literally everything comes from Next here 😂 you can also get Gap and lots of other brands on the Next website

Eileen101 · 10/01/2021 21:25

Sainsbury's for my skinny boy. His godmother has brought him some Primark trousers which I have been pleasantly surprised with - adjustable waist.
Material at H and M is a bit hit and miss I think - very thin at times but fine for summery wear.
If they're into brights - frugi, but in the sale.

BogRollBOGOF · 10/01/2021 21:27

Outdoors shops (Decathlon cut slim) and Morrisons and Tu.

Fortunately DS1 only wears shorts so it's easy to buy those for his waist a few years younger.

catnoir1 · 10/01/2021 21:27

Gap is great for skinny tall kids. I like joules too.

Next is a bit hit and miss. I don't think it washes well. New joggers bought for for my son for Christmas and they're already bobbly. The trainers he's worn twice the print has come off.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 10/01/2021 21:27

I find H&M massive round the waist for DD.

ImBoredAgain · 10/01/2021 21:28

Next for smart or jd sports for everyday/casual

AM130674 · 10/01/2021 21:30

Next, H&M and George. Tesco F&F sometimes.

rachll · 10/01/2021 21:41

Ooooh lots of recommendations- thanks all!

Interesting to see everyones washing/ tumble drying/ bobbling experiences- the washing machine in on everyday here as my boys can't seem to keep anything clean for longer than one day!Shock

I get on really well with H&M for my skinny 8 y.o. boy. Nice and cheap and the trousers all have adjustable waist bands.

Mintjulia · 10/01/2021 22:45

Their T-shirts can be a bit thin but sweaters and jeans have been good.

T-shirts from Matalan or sometimes Gap. DS is picky, he doesn,'t like T-shirts with writing on, so it isn't easy

Oodlenoodle12 · 10/01/2021 22:48

Agree with pp about buying from Next, H&M, Asda and Sainsbury's. I'd also recommend Boots for their own brand and Mothercare. You also get more points on your card for Parents Club purchases. I recently got some sale stuff from Frugi. It's organic cotton and ethically sourced.

Laredoute online
