So did anyone clap in your street last night?

I did look for a thread on this and couldn't see one.

Quite a few people in our street joined in the clapping in March, but last night you could have heard a pin drop Grin Any die hard clappers out there, or has it fizzled out?

Absolutely no one. We didn't first time around and are definitely not applauding this time either

StrippedFridge · 08/01/2021 20:09

No

Purplecatshopaholic · 08/01/2021 20:09

No, thank god. No one I know thought it was anything other than cringeworthy.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 08/01/2021 20:10

Oh crikey, pin dropping is not the thing now, is it? Grin

TurquoiseDragon · 08/01/2021 20:15

Not here, either. My street is all terraced houses, and if I'd gone out at the same time as my NDN, we'd have only been about a foot or two apart. Which isn't really a good idea.

Chickychickydodah · 08/01/2021 20:16

Nope .

longtompot · 08/01/2021 20:20

I think my street has fair weather clappers as there was not one. We didn't clap first time round and weren't planning to this time round either.

MarshaBradyo · 08/01/2021 20:20

No

OhCaptain · 08/01/2021 20:23

We did this here in Ireland the first time. I didn’t do it then either cause it’s fucking stupid.

Since then our government chose to screw over nurses so I’d imagine our healthcare workers would like to tell us all to fuck off with our clapping.

I’d rather shit in my hands and clap than do something so embarrassingly twee.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 08/01/2021 20:24

Didn’t check but didn’t hear anything....we certainly didn’t

UnicornAndSparkles · 08/01/2021 20:26

No. Clapping does nothing. Everyone should be writing to their MP to get keyworkers a pay rise instead.

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/01/2021 20:27

No idea. I was asleep. Not many did it first time around. Let’s just say, no one woke me up...

DilemmaADay · 08/01/2021 20:28

No, noone on our street. Including the terrible people in the house behind us who liked to get their karaoke machine out and sing warble every bloody week and bang their bloody pans...they also liked to have noisy, smokey parties until 3am going in and out of each others houses Hmm

Jocasta2018 · 08/01/2021 20:28

Not that I know of. I didn't hear anything but I had the tv on.
It was f-ing freezing so I had no intention of standing outside & clapping...

bluechameleon · 08/01/2021 20:37

I didn't hear any, but someone posted on the neighbourhood WhatsApp group asking why people were clapping so someone must've been doing it.

santabetterwashhishands · 08/01/2021 20:38

Nope my kids enjoyed doing it last year when it was warm but they were snoring last night at 8 o'clock

fairydustandpixies · 08/01/2021 20:43

No

S0CKS · 08/01/2021 20:52

I gave a few pounds to charity at 8pm. I haven't much to spare at the moment so it wasn't a big donation but it was better than clapping surely.

tootyfruitypickle · 08/01/2021 20:53

Pan banging here and clapping.

Not me though. I was having a lovely bath instead Grin

Frownette · 08/01/2021 20:54

I was probably having a catnap but not that I know of. We live next door to a large hospital and don't want to piss them off doing a seal impersonation or interrupting them in sleep.

2020hello · 08/01/2021 20:55

Our neighbour did Nd then she complained to the street how she was on her own now a few more said they will join her next week because they didn't realise it was back

Harmarsuperstar · 08/01/2021 20:55

@FreshFreesias

I’d rather clap for those whose lives and businesses have been destroyed by lockdown - the pub owners, those in hospitality etc
And it wouldn't do them any good, either, so why bother?
Nicolastuffedone · 08/01/2021 20:57

NHS household here.....we never clapped first time round, definitely won’t be starting now!

bungleZippy12 · 08/01/2021 20:59

I commented on the other thread about this, because some of my neighbours did do it! I couldn’t believe it actually.
