Can we share annoying neighbours during lockdown stories?

Like many people I am stuck at home, trying to work, with teen dd in another room, also doing a full day of school work followed by homework. It’s very quiet, except for my neighbour playing music all afternoon at full volume. (She is fully aware that this is anti social as other people have spoken to her about this in the past. And yes, I have posted about this before...)

Fortunately I am only living here for another few months but in the meantime I would be comforted by other stories of annoying and selfish neighbour behaviour !

My downstairs neighbour (2 floors down) has a 2 year old. The 2 year old has a ball that it bounces, but god knows what it's made of because it shakes my floor, and there's a flat between us. I've told them and they were profusely apologetic, and it was better for a bit, but now it's all day, every day again.

SURELY THE CHILD HAS OTHER TOYS???!!!

PearlclutchersInc · 05/01/2021 20:58

notcontent in exactly the same boat and very unhappy. If wasn't for the fact that the entire row of homes has Ring I'd be stuffing fish juice in her letterbox.

One of our neighbours across from us, have a bar/disco thing set up in their garage, you can see when they have the shutter rolled up.

Yesterday I was clearing up lunch when a police car pulled up and the policeman proceeded to bang on the shutters demanding to see who was home.

Neighbour was having a loud drinker party with lots of cars parking all over everyone’s driveways.

Neighbour didn’t let the policeman in nor did they lift the shutter. There was much yelling through the shutters however.

Reckon one of the houses attached to theirs must have got fed up and complained. That particular neighbour is very obnoxious I’m really glad we’re not living right next to them the noise in the bar is incessant.

Reported my neighbours today, workmen in their property. One must be a friend as he is staying overnight in the property too. He isn't a relative. Neither workman had a mask on. Wish folk would take it more seriously.

I don't believe they are doing necessary work inside the property. It looks cosmetic. Police can chase up with a visit or a letter etc. So many of us are abiding by the rules. It's a lockdown, not a time to do up your property 🙄

combatbarbie · 05/01/2021 21:10

@blowinahoolie OK so the guy shouldn't be staying in the house but property maintenance is within the guidelines, most of the bathroom and kitchen companies didn't stop during lockdown. Not wearing masks, maybe they're exempt?

Frownette · 05/01/2021 21:11

One actually pinched my summerhouse and transported that to her garden

warmandtoasty2day · 05/01/2021 21:14

frownette how the heck did she manage that ???

swapsicles · 05/01/2021 21:17

My neighbours children run around constantly on the laminate and seem to frequently slam doors and throw things. I never hear the parents telling them to stop it so they must just run riot. Thing is I'm above them so the ones underneath them must be a lot worse, you can feel the thuds as they happen!
I'm not complaining though, as it's not loud as such and I'm not silent though try to be quiet.

They only stopped during first lockdown. All works is allowed as they are "unable to work from home".
TheWristBoundLatexBitch · 05/01/2021 21:20

All work not works.

And also they could be in a single person bubble.

Audreyseyebrows · 05/01/2021 21:23

I have no neighbours now but was once the noisy neighbour after a complaint about ‘love noise’. Sorry.

Tickly · 05/01/2021 22:36

@PivotPivotPivottt me too - I have a baby and an older DC who has just taken up a very squeeky wind instrument 😳. Hoping all the practice means rapid improvement before my NDN posts on here.

BumbleFlump · 05/01/2021 23:23

My NDN does his own building work verrrry sloooowly. It started about 4 years ago with a conservatory, then decking and then a garage. In fact, the lazy arse doesn’t do it himself, he gets an elderly relative to do it for him while he bellows at the TOP of his voice. You can hear him bellowing at the end of his garden art he front of the house. To top it all, the garden wall (his responsibility) is much lower than it’s supposed to be so I have no privacy in my garden. He “fixed” my roof without permission with cement, I caught his builder relative chucking dried mortar onto my plastic conservatory roof which could have broken it. Oh and I’m pretty sure they dislodged my flashing in the process of fixing his.

He’s a misogynist, is partner and child free and tbh I think he’s trying to make my like a misery because he’s jealous.

He’s also a local postman and I’m pretty sure he slags me off too all and sundry whenever he gets the chance.

Horrible, horrible, horrible man

blowinahoolie · 06/01/2021 05:47

combatbarbie only essential works can be carried out. I am in Scotland. As I said, it doesn't appear to be essential. I have a stair well area in my own home needing decorated but it can wait at a time like this. No point putting people at risk.

blowinahoolie · 06/01/2021 05:50

This is also same family who had friends over during first lockdown for parties. Awful people. Loud music went on all through the night.

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 06/01/2021 06:31

I am mid terrace

Neighbour number 1 I reported to police twice in lockdown 1 as I can hear him verbally abusing his wife. He will scream obscenities at her and say awful things about her. I can hear it all and this will go on all day and all night. I cannot tell if there is anything physical but I found it so distressing thinking she might be harmed. Police did not appear to do anything so I guess she is OkHmm

New neighbours just moved in the other side. The side next to my bedroom wall. And they have the opposite issue. They have noisy sex every night and often in the daytime too. She is a real screamer. They have 4 kids as well. I am hoping lockdown and home schooling will put them off a bit.

I have always been fine living in a terraced house but right now I fantasise about moving back to the country far, far away from anyone.

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 06/01/2021 06:43

Oh and wife beating neighbour has built a massive 'garage' (with windows) in his garden lately whilst in Tier 3. He had Polish builders who stayed in his house in flagrant violation of Covid rules and they swarmed all over my garden without permission. They took down my fence and he's built so close to the boundary that he can't put it back and is now suggesting putting some trellis up the 'garage' wall instead. Attempts to remonstrate were met with blank looks as they did not speak English.
At one point one of them fell off the roof and an ambulance was called so I guess health and safety was not a strong point.

This monstrosity now looms over my garden and no way is it a garage. He was refused permission for a 2 storey home office but apparently this 'garage' is allowed.

For the first time in 15 years I really do want to move out now.

MiaowMix · 06/01/2021 10:38

Same as @LondonStone here. Also in London.

@Frownette what? How on earth did that happen? Spill!

blowinahoolie · 06/01/2021 10:44

Covid are your neighbours you reported Polish nationals per chance?

rubydoobydoo · 06/01/2021 10:45

During the first lockdown when DH and I were both working from home the neighbours on one side had loud garden parties that started around lunch time every day and carried on until about 6pm. Speakers in the garden and screaming and singing.
Hoping it's too cold for them to start it up again!

blowinahoolie · 06/01/2021 10:46

Haha I fantasise about my neighbours moving away. They are a bloody nuisance.

blowinahoolie · 06/01/2021 10:47

In December, someone was taking photos of the outside of their property. Their sofas were moved into a van a few days later. But no, they are still here....

Alexandrite · 06/01/2021 10:49

And by sleep training it sounds like leaving him to scream himself to sleep. 4 hours solid screaming at 3am last night. Right next to our bedroom
Sounds cruel

torquewench · 06/01/2021 10:58

Mine throws his tools, etc. into the back of his van every day at around 6.15 am, then slams the sliding door, whilst bellowing into his phone. Every. Fucking. Day. He also has a leaf blower that he uses to blow fallen leaves, litter, etc. off his driveway into the road, from where it blows into everyone else's driveways. Oh, and a jetwash for jetwashing his driveway, which spatters mud over my car and cream render. Twat.

MamTDM · 06/01/2021 11:11

Our neighbours are actually very nice but they've bought a puppy and they seem a bit clueless with him because he yaps and cries and howls for hours some nights :(
