Anyone felt pregnant INSTANTLY and got bfp?

Hello all!

I am currently 4dpo and on my 7th cycle ttc.

I must be mad but I find the 2ww incredibly exciting and am fascinated by the miracle of conception.

I actually don't have any pregnancy symptoms yet but I wanted to know if any of you ladies have instantly felt pregnant and just knew straight away? They say it's impossible to experience pregnancy symptoms until implantation but I strongly believe you surely must feel something before implantation because it's still such a huge thing for your body to experience! Also the body just produce hormones as soon as the sperm fertilized the egg.

I have never been pregnant but my mum.said she instantly knew when she conceived me and she said sickness started within 2 days. My wife has also carried our 1st child and we also knew that she was pregnant before she finally got a bfp at 11dpo. She had sickness from about 5dpo and was extremely crabby let's just say... she's usually so happy and chilled out so deffo not herself. Our wee boy is now 2.

What are your stories? I find it all so interesting! Have you had any weird symptoms as well??

Can't wait to hear all your stories :)

No. With all three DC the first sign was no period turning up. Lots of months I had convinced myself I was pregnant and then disappointed when my period arrived a few days later.

movingonup20 · 06/01/2021 09:49

In retrospect I knew within a few days (5-6) because the thought of drinking alcohol made me feel sick but I only took a test once my period was a week late

movingonup20 · 06/01/2021 09:51

And yes managed to get pregnant whilst still on the pill (following food poisoning a lesson there) then first cycle after quitting breastfeeding, also later accidentally but terminated because wasn't coping with the 2 I had due to sn of my eldest

I'm convinced I felt implantation with dd2. It was like a sharp wiggly feeling in my lower abdomen. I still remember it crystal clearly.

SarahAndQuack · 06/01/2021 10:03

It's interesting about confirmation bias and the stats on fertilisation.

Something I wonder is whether there is something different going on with the body when it's a pregnancy that is going to stick - do our bodies know this egg is better quality than the others or something like that? Because certainly, when I'm not TTC, I don't always feel the same during my cycle. A while back I had some damage to one of my ovaries, and it was quite obvious which ovary was ovulating/trying to ovulate each month as they symptoms were quite different. My body was clearly quite aware that dud ovary wasn't really up to the job (although it was ovulating, just really craply).

So it doesn't seem to me impossible that we genuinely do experience symptoms with an unimplanted pregnancy that will go on to 'stick'.

There's really so little good research into women's bodies and menstrual cycles that it wouldn't be a surprise if medical science just hadn't figured it out yet.

Vinceypie · 06/01/2021 10:05

I guess everyone is different. Some people are more in tune with their body's and some people are more hormone sensitive. We deffo 100% knew when my wife was pregnant with our 1st within days of iui. We had tracked her cycles and symptoms before having the hip treatment so we knew what was normal for her. She was sick within about 3/4 days. She got travel sickness that she never usual had. She had to get the bus to work daily so deffo would have noticed this before as well. I 100% believe some people do feel pregnancy symptoms before implantation but not everyone does. Everyone is different. I have pcos so I too have been tracking my cycles for years before ttc. As yet nothing out the norm for me but I just have a feeling. Maybe I am just a dreamer but it's good to be positive and I know for sure this is going to happen eventually so I'm just enjoying the experience of ttc because one day we can look back at this period as an amazing journey to completing our little family. Smile we are very lucky that our new donor is 100% committed to helping us and is doing everything he can for success. We are very lucky to have found him!

Just to say, my DP also felt symptoms very early, but apparently that is common with IUI if it's medicated.

noscoobydoodle · 06/01/2021 10:13

Yes I knew straight away with all 3 (I did have a miscarriage before that when I didn't know I was pg but I did know something was different- I thought I had something wrong with me. So guess I had the heads up from that). With the second I still had the coil so shouldn't have even happened but I still knew. I never had sickness or anything like that, and other symptoms came later on, but I did just know. I have never been wrong and never taken a test that wasn't a positive!

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 06/01/2021 10:22

I knew very quickly.

I felt sick on about Day 6, woke up Day 7 and had this strange feeling that I wasn't alone in the room.

Went and bought a test... Smile

Vinceypie · 06/01/2021 10:26

@SarahAndQuack my partners iui was unmediated so nothing to explain the symptoms other than pregnancy lol I do believe that there's not been enough research into the female reproductive system like you say. The whole of pregnancy and conception completely amazes me and I wish when I was younger I studied this field! I also wish we could afford iui for me as I think with my pcos we have got a lot journey ahead with using donor sperm for AI at home. I am doing all I can to succeed. I've lost 5 stone in weight. Quit booze(with the exception of 3 drinks at Christmas!!) And cut out sugar completely. I've gone from 3 periods a year to monthly cycle so praying that means I will be able to get pregnant. I've got a fertility app in March for an mot so who knows what they will find but I'm hoping I won't need that appointment Smile will keep positive and keep trying
.keep your stories coming ladies cos it's so fascinating!

I knew.

3 DC, TTC twice.

DC1 had been TTC 10 months and just knew something was different the cycle we conceived. I got faint BFP at 9dpo.

DC2 was unplanned but again I just knew, which prompted me to test when my period was due. No idea how many dpo I was as wasn't tracking but got BFP around the same time period due

DC3 conceived second month and again, just knew. Can't even explain how, it was like an instinctive feeling.

SarahAndQuack · 06/01/2021 10:33

YY, just mentioning the medication as we assume that's what it was with DP.

Good luck with your IUI! For what it's worth, I've been told unmedicated IUI doesn't make any difference for PCOS.

Vinceypie · 06/01/2021 10:45

Oh I'm not having IUI I was saying I wish we could afford it as I have pcos so I think it would help us conceive faster. We are doing the old Turkey basting method Grin lol

Hi OP,

I am also fascinated by the miracle that is conception.

At 5dpo I kept smelling a weird metallic smell. There was building work going on at my office at that time so I just thought it was that. I smelt it at home and thought the smell must be lingering on my clothes / hair from work.

At 7dpo I went to my friend's to get ready for a night out. I had a shower, washed my hair, changed clothes and could still smell it. I asked her if I smelled weird, she said no! At that point I just knew. No wine for me that night! I got a BFP the following week.

SarahAndQuack · 06/01/2021 11:01

Here's hoping it works! With a regular cycle it sounds like things are in your favour.

Btw, do you know there's a donor conception sub-forum here (loads of people talking about TTC in all sorts of ways). Might be useful.

elsaesmeralda · 06/01/2021 11:21

There have been months I "knew" and still my period came. I personally think there is no way of telling so early, it's progesterone

SpikySara · 06/01/2021 11:32

I had a few pregnancy tests in the cupboard because we were trying, but hadn’t used any yet because I’d never had a late period. I fancied a G&T because the weather was hot and suddenly had this weird idea that I’d better do a pregnancy test before drinking alcohol. We’d been trying for a year and I’d never done that before. It was positive.

minnie465 · 06/01/2021 11:44

Agree with @BertieBotts. Fell pregnant with DS first cycle of trying. "Knew" I was pregnant. Trying for number two now and I'm completely convinced I am pregnant each month 🤣 From looking back at my normal PMS symptoms (I have app on my phone) I have pregnancy symptoms most months

Not sure the science backs this up. In the months that I ‘just knew’, AF arrived and when I got pregnant, it was a shock. I am normally incredibly body aware and hormonally sensitive, with a body-based mindfulness practice. I genuinely think a lot of it is psychosomatic or confirmation bias. The science bears this out. But it makes people feel better so fine... The only time it can be unhelpful is when it gives people false hope and causes disappointment when their period arrives.
Ithinkhedidit · 06/01/2021 11:52

I did with one pregnancy - I just "knew" plus had very strong symptoms before AF was even due (strong metallic taste, sickness and so on). That pregnancy was very intense - HG, SPD, it absolutely wiped me out. The other one I had no idea at all, was absolutely convinced AF was on the way and was very surprised when I got a BFP! It was also a much easier pregnancy. Weird.

CatFaceCats · 06/01/2021 11:53

I had no idea! It was only when my ex asked where my period was as he had noticed the box hadn’t moved from the cupboard to the shelf! I had no feelings or inklings or anything like that!

LividLovely · 06/01/2021 11:58

I’ve been pregnant five times with one miracle baby.

Last month I “knew” about 10dpo. Had the weird tension headache and the metallic taste. I got one vvfl that was gone by next day, so it was an early chemical. Took two more days to stop feeling pregnant and ten days for my period to come.

GalaxyCake · 06/01/2021 12:03

Yes I knew almost immediately! Around 6-8dpo and even a FRER showed negative at 10dpo. I was pregnant before (sadly ended in mmc) and I had an odd kind of sharp, stretchy pain in the pelvic area. A bit like your uterus is stretching and growing rather than the dragging, crampy pain when you get your period.

We were on holiday weren‘t actively TTC. However the first day back I woke up with that pain and was mind boggled because the only time I felt it before was during pregnancy. It was real enough to convince me to get and take folic acid (secretly since I didn‘t want DH thinking I was crazy because it‘s impossible to know that early).

A few other symptoms caught up soon like tasting bitterness very strongly (had to bin a rocket salad because it was too strong) and going off coffee and chocolate which I normally love. I had implantation bleeding exactly around the time of my period with identical symptoms (cramps, headache) so I assumed I was imagining the pregnancy. However the bleeding never really got started and it was a good 3 weeks dpo before I finally realised I must be pg.

Mylittleturkeysandwich · 06/01/2021 12:05

I feel wiped out in early pregnancy but that symptom doesn't show up until very near a missed period (around 12/14 DPO) and when I tested the same day I got my BFP. That's the same for both my pregnancies, the MC and the one that resulted in DS.
