What age for Marvel films?

Just that really. They’re all 12a or more and I know some are really, really not suitable for younger children.

However DC is 7 and I think that he may enjoy some of the MCU. I’m thinking Spider-Man or Guardians?

Not keen on bad language or gory/realistic violence

Thoughts, MN?

Shazam - It's Big meets superhero movie. Boy in Foster care meets magical person and becomes a superhero at will and does the sort of things that you would expect a tween to do if they suddenly developed superhero powers, has to fight off some bad guys and main character learns to trust and the meaning of family etc.

My 7 year old has been watching Marvel since age 6 and he loves them all.

He was shit scared of Shazam! Of the big demons monster type things.

Also just to add. There is absolutely an order to watch the Marvel films. Yes they are all interlinked but its one big story that makes sense in running order.

The correct order is order of release. So Iron Man first. Chronological order is often argued to be best but then the end credit scenes will make no sense.

Release order.

We are going to watch this today. With everything that has been going on I’d forgotten all about this film.

The only thing I wouldn't feel comfortable with a 7 year old watching is guardians of the galaxy the rest are fine start with Spiderman or ironman .

Nohomemadecandles · 01/01/2021 11:46

I cried like Nancy Kerrigan at Endgame. Kids didn't! Grin

Why?

I love GOTG and I’m struggling to understand what wrong with it for children?

MardyBicardi · 01/01/2021 11:49

I haven’t seen endgame yet. The dts watched it with DP while I was out and I’m not that bothered about watching it on my own.
Captain Marvel is another good film and I think it’s possibly less gory / scary than some of the others. Cant quite remember it all though.

MardyBicardi · 01/01/2021 11:51

Yes, I didn’t think GOTG was any worse that the other films either. There are some adult jokes but they really do go over dc head.

Sstarlight · 01/01/2021 11:52

@TammyTwoSwanson

Just be careful with Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The opening scene made my 6 year old throw up.
Oh really?! The dancing baby groot?
Mrsjayy · 01/01/2021 11:53

I just think. Guardians is a bit too intense for little kids.

LST · 01/01/2021 11:55

GOTG is my 6 year olds favourite along with endgame. I think I feel a New Years Day Marvel marathon coming on!

User27aw · 01/01/2021 11:55

My 9 year has watched them all, started with Antman a couple of years ago.

Soubriquet · 01/01/2021 11:55

That’s fair enough Mrsjayy
