Little things for the house that make life easier - I’m doing a shop

Right. I’m getting my act together. As I once again realised we’d run out of little clippy things for reasealing food packaging, it also occurs to me I keep meaning to buy an extra long iPhone cable so I can use my phone when it’s charging in the living room (I can rest it on the table but can’t look at it while sat on the sofa which is pissing irritating and means I’m constantly on 3% battery). I do try and avoid amazon so as not to help Jeff Bezos and his sickening wealth but sod it, I’m going to sit down this afternoon and do an Amazon shop for all those little things that make life easier but I never get around to buying. Basically all the stuff my mum used to go to Woolies for when I was little Sad (RIP Woolies, gone but not forgotten)

So far my list is:
Kitchen clips
Extra long iPhone cable
Lighters - if I can buy them online? (I don’t smoke but I’m a candle obsessive and I am always running out of long matches)
An oven liner, threw mine away a couple of months ago as it was rank and now I need to clean the oven base instead which is much harder than running the liner through the dishwasher - sigh

Please could you suggest other things I need but can’t think of right this second? Much appreciated Grin

@ZebraGiraffeHippo they look a good idea although we are also losing cupboard space as the kitchen is smaller! We've compromised for space elsewhere! Looks like I'll just have to have a good clear out. My current plan is to leave stuff in the garage and if it's still there in a year we don't need it!!

Now that we have multiple ipads, phones etc that need charging, we made a little charging station out of one of these desk organisers:

www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/droenjoens-desk-organiser-white-00428827

Ipads go in the bit at the back, spare cables etc in the drawer, and phones in the smaller section at the side. And we use it with 2 plugs that you can attach three USB cables to. That way everyone’s devices stay downstairs overnight and are charged up in the morning. I got so fed up with the tangled up chaos of cables and this makes me feel all calm!

Wireless phone charger
Sellotape dispenser

Silicone toilet brush
Washable cleaning cloths
Mop with washable microfibre pads

I'm presently using toast tongs, jar scrapers, stay fresh bags, am waiting for Lakeland cold cuts boxes and have just ordered oven shelf protectors.

So many things I never knew I needed. Luckily had an Amazon gift card for Christmas.

I have a webcam slider cover which is really tiny and neat.

If you like writing or doing puzzles in bed, fine liners work really well upside down.

Lightbulb adapters are useful if you have a stock of the wrong type of fitment.

Glass cleaner is great on laminate floors, no smears.

White spirit is much cheaper than sticky stuff remover.

@Feedingthebirds1 ahhh I get it, we've
Never had that toy so didn't get the joke sorry!
What doesn't get played with gets passed along to our church to give families who would appreciate it. So we don't harbour junk or tat!
She does however have a baby Annabelle doll who has her own draw of clothes with my dd clothes
The boxs are purely for barbie accessories, playmobil figures and little bits then colours and craft, vehicles, the little things they have to go with their toys as its best been organised then having them all around the place getting lost , ate and stood on!

giantangryrooster · 03/01/2021 00:11

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 03/01/2021 10:47

I bought a wheelie thingy to transport two cat baskets to the train station - didn't think I get much use out of it apart from that but it's great for dragging bulky or heavy shopping home!

Does anyone know where I can get a magnetic clip/ holder to put on the fridge to put the broom in please? I've got a wooden broom with a plain wooden handle, no hole at the top so it can't hang on a hook, it needs a grabby bit iyswim?
Also oven liners for a gas cooker? Do they exist? Does it have a gap for the flame bit or am I setting myself up for a house fire? Thanks.

sueelleker · 03/01/2021 12:31

@Curlygirl06; I think they just cover the base of the oven, not the burners.

For useful hooks, hangers, baskets etc I suggest this place. I could spend a fortune here
