Is the wind keeping anyone else awake?

Loads of things blowing around outside so keep waking baby DS :(
Not that I can sleep, I keep getting woken up every five minutes by the noise. I always forget how loud wind can be

Hove here - it’s sooo loud & scary! Bedroom in a loft conversion - sounds like the roof might get ripped off. Have given up completely on sleeping. Come on dawn! [scared] Sod’s law this is the night dd sleeps through...

East Sussex coast here - house is vibrating, the leak in the downstairs bay window roof that I though had been fixed last week....its dripping through. The extreme wind is driving bits of rain though cracks.

So I am up monitoring the bucket and towels in my front room. I have plastic windows in my upstairs bedroom and a small amount is even getting through them onto the sill.

Please die down soon wind, please, please....

Not the wind, though it is very noticeable. I am in West London , in a tower block. I have my window vey slightly open (sash window) and make frequent loo trips (not out the window!!!) and every time I try to open the door it is met with a lot of resistance and a real howl of a gale, you'd think I was on the windy moors! The carpet rises and it looks quite bizarre!

Yorkshire here - it was really loud when I posted at 1, but it seems to have passed now. No rain or wind at all, hurrah. Maybe we'll be able to get out for a walk today, DD is turning into a mini tornado herself from being stuck inside...

East Kent coast here and it has been bad throughout the night, but starting to ease a bit now 🤞

It was really loud when we went to bed but my one year old has white noise on all night in his room so I turned the baby monitor up loud to drown out outside noise. Slept pretty well for me in the end.

It's eased here now (Surrey) but woke me loads of times overnight. It was rattling the extractor fan in the en-suite. Now to wait for the light to come up to see if any of the fences have gone. We are very exposed and lose a few panels every year.

BillyAndTheSillies · 27/12/2020 07:44

Slowed down here now, it drove DS1(4) in to bed with DH and I at 1:30am but seemed to act as white noise for DS2(1) who has never slept better than last night.

Last night was the worst weather we've had in London for a while. It's been a week since our bins have been collected though so none moving about!

Gingernaut · 27/12/2020 07:46

No.

The next door neighbour's reggae party kept going until 0430.

Completely blocked the wind out.

MockneyReject · 27/12/2020 08:00

Yes, but it's one of the less unpleasant things that wake me up every night. At least, it is now that the squeaky shop sign has finally been oiled. The drunks shouting/arguing, shop deliveries, early morning road sweepers are worse. The church bells wake me the most. Although DS wriggling comes a close second. The lit Xmas tree bolted to the wall next to my bedroom window takes a bit of getting used to, every year.

I'll probably miss it all when we eventually move.

PhilCornwall1 · 27/12/2020 08:15

Wind has eased now, but oh joy, thunder rumbling around.
