Bloody hell... chocolate coins all over her bed, half the presents unwrapped. She's 8, has a bedside clock & can tell the time. Got overexcited & couldn't wait, apparently! We were just going to bed & she walked in, clutching a couple of toys, frightened the life out of me. Grin DH is now laying in bed giggling.

None of this answers the question wtf am I doing awake?

I’ll have to start doing stuff soon tho

@Ffsnosexallowed

I'd disconnect the doorbell next year.

We've agreed on 10.30 for ours. Teens that don't do early.

Mine are still asleep or in bed. Youngest is 11. Definitely weird for me after over 20 years of being woken at silly o’clock on Xmas morning!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 25/12/2020 08:19

Presents all in santa sacks in living room, i am up and dressed, table is set for breakfast, DH in bathroom getting ready..... kids still in bed 😁 mind you they are 24 and 28 ! But we still all get excited for christmas
Have a good one if you can

movingonup20 · 25/12/2020 08:20

We switched to stockings in living room about age 5, so much easier. Once they reached 10 all presents were after lunch, stockings were the only thing opened in the morning anyway. They were both choristers until going to university so very late to bed (1.30am) and back at church for 9

Mine are still asleep, it's the first year they were asleep after me so I have put the stockings in their rooms just now. Very odd start to Christmas day after years of early wake ups by overexcited children. It's a new chapter, different but rather nice. I shall go and peel potatoes. Have a lovely day everyone.

ladymuck111 · 25/12/2020 08:27

Nope not yet. Mine are still asleep and I've been awake since 5am 😞

toomuchfaster · 25/12/2020 08:27

DD was asleep by 8.15pm, Santa visited at 9pm then we watched several Vicar of Dibley after seeing the comedy episode thread! DH woke me at bloody 5.30am but fortunately not DD. My alarm woke me at 7am but I fell asleep again, oops! DD finally woke me at 7.45am and we are playing with stocking toys until DH gets up for breakfast. I feel very lucky!

MardyBicardi · 25/12/2020 08:39

My dts are 10, we told them they could wake up at 7. At 7:01 we heard a cheery “It’s Christmas Mum and Dad”
They’re currently spending robucks while we chill out drinking coffee.

lighlypoached · 25/12/2020 08:41

1am is nuts!

I started a family tradition that we open presents after Christmas lunch - so about 4/5pm at earliest. It seems to take the mania out of it and we open to candle light and after all of the hard work bit is done, and the adults are a bit pissed. Grin

They have small stockings in the morning but have never done the mad very early thing. They are now 18/21 so still soundly asleep. Their stockings are ready. Yes, I know they are too big but as a child I never had a stocking so I think I'm making up for it Smile

Happy Christmas everyone!

daisypond · 25/12/2020 08:46

Yes, we open stockings in the morning. Other presents wait. We open them throughout the day.

itsgettingweird · 25/12/2020 08:53

Ds -16 - was up at 7.15am.

He's a swimmer and usually up at 5am to train a few mornings a week (also swims evenings).

So last night having been up at 5 and 2 hours swimming he took himself to bed and crashed immediately at 10pm Grin

Don't think I've ever been able to do stocking (outside his door as he hates idea of people coming in when he's asleep still!) and presents and be in bed by 10.30pm on Christmas Eve ever!!!

Just 2 of us so stockings breakfast and presents take an hour.

He's now entertained with his new computer monitor whilst I chill!

Dancetherain · 25/12/2020 10:07

So I finally managed to deliver the stockings in the manner of a ninja at about 2 am then conked out until I was woken up by an over excited dd2 at 7.30! Ds2 had to be dragged out of his pit around 8 as she couldn't wait any longer!

Merry Christmas all Xmas Smile

CharityEscapeGoat · 25/12/2020 19:06

Predictably she was up by 7, & into the remaining stocking presents... on our bed. DH & I have spent the day struggling to stay awake, while she's spent the day bouncing around like a kangaroo on speed, as usual. She's still going, too, the little horror. I wish it was still acceptable to put some whisky in their bedtime milk. (Lighthearted, obviously!) FML...

Ds (age6) woke up at 1:15 am, got out of bed and started shouting 'Hello? Hello?'.
I told him to go back there bed until the sun came up! Thankfully he went back to sleep 😹

CharityEscapeGoat · 25/12/2020 21:47

@KindergartenKop - haha that sounds very familiar...

I told DH a little while ago that he's obviously a demon, as she's clearly a devil child. They both thought it was very funny... gin then bed for me, I think! Grin
