Anyone else's kids already woken up & opened their stocking?

Bloody hell... chocolate coins all over her bed, half the presents unwrapped. She's 8, has a bedside clock & can tell the time. Got overexcited & couldn't wait, apparently! We were just going to bed & she walked in, clutching a couple of toys, frightened the life out of me. Grin DH is now laying in bed giggling.

Nope. Mine don’t surface until at the earliest 8am. I’m awake because dh is channeling his inner darth Vader on a treadmill. I’ve shoved him so many times to make him stop he’s probably balanced on the edge of the bed. If he falls, that might wake dc up and we can get going haha

VulvaPerson · 25/12/2020 06:45

Still waiting for mine, after a horrific night of no sleep myself. DD is usually up at the crack of dawn. 7 is a huge lie in for her but no movement yet! Oddly, we usually get them waking late on xmas. I find it really really strange though figure it might be the excitement of xmas eve knocks them out a bit.

hiredandsqueak · 25/12/2020 06:53

Dc are fast asleep. the dog woke me at half five. She won't be given her stocking until after the dc as a consequence Grin She went back to bed the minute I came down and has been snoring ever since, she likes my presence whilst she sleeps.

ShutUpaYourFace · 25/12/2020 06:55

Ha ha @Fluffytheevil1 exactly the same here.
Been awake since 5.45 with fog horn leg horn lying here next to me! The dog is dreaming downstairs yelping like he got that squirrel. The kids 5 & 8 fast asleep still.
I'm enjoying the nearly peaceful me time.
Can't wait to see their little faces though.
Happy Christmas everyone

YourStarlessEyes · 25/12/2020 06:55

Still waiting for mine, I've been up for an hour. I've put the hallway light on hoping the glimmer of light through their doors will wake them! They are 8 and almost 3, thought the 8 year old would wake by now!

Longdistance · 25/12/2020 06:59

Mine aren’t having stockings by their beds this year for that exact reason. Dd1 would get up at stupid o’clock and not go back to sleep. We’ve blocked the stairs off so she can’t sneak down as well.
Last year she was up at 2am and looking at the tree. Not fair on other dd and rather irritating as I was exhausted all Christmas Day.

justsotiredallthetime · 25/12/2020 07:05

Nearly 2 year old woke at 4am upset. Wouldn't go back to sleep so we've been up since then. He's very over excited and being very silly! Yesterday he didn't wake until 7am - bloody typical!

billybagpuss · 25/12/2020 07:10

Am I allowed to be smug that my early 20 year olds are unlikely to surface for another couple of hours.

Yes the early years have moments of Christmas magic, but I wouldn’t swap it for this lovely relaxed cuppa in bed with DH and dog.

Merry Christmas everyone 🙂

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 25/12/2020 07:11

My dog has been up since 6.30 does that count. The kids never got up before 8 a.m. so this is a shock to the system.

Impatientwino · 25/12/2020 07:18

When he was younger DS1 now 8 was terrified at the prospect of FC going into his bedroom so stockings here are always left downstairs under the tree. He is also still frightened to go downstairs by himself so this serves us well on Christmas Eve!

He woke up 6.15 ish like usual but is happily on my iPad next to us in bed while we wait for littlest DS (3) to wake up.

We walked them for miles yesterday fearing an excited 3 year old 5am start and it appears to have worked for once!

Merry Christmas all!

VulvaPerson · 25/12/2020 07:27

This is the latest DD has slept in years. I am considering waking her now! DS usually sleeps better (has been known to lie in til 11, on rare occasion), but assumed he would be up by now. But I know I will regret it as they are grumpy little things if they do not wake up aturally and don't fancy contributing to the inevitable bickering today

Meruem · 25/12/2020 07:31

My DC’s are adults now and I miss the days of sneaking in the stockings and seeing their excitement that Santa has been. Now the tables have turned and I woke up at 6:30 and they’re both fast asleep! Will have to wait until 9 or 10 for them to surface! Enjoy it while it lasts, they’re only small for such a short time.

danni0509 · 25/12/2020 07:37

Ds (7) woke at 10 last night (he’d been asleep from about 8/30 ish) so not even 2 hours sleep don’t quite remember but he was being a pain in the arse all night, he didn’t go back to sleep after 10 and kept me awake all night.

He opened all his presents just before 3.30 this morning I’d given up by this point as he kept coming out his room and down the stairs and the final time I didn’t catch him in time and heard paper ripping open the little shit 😂 so what was the point after that!

I’ve not had any sleep whatsoever I’m shattered.

Merry xmas all x

Glitterinthegrey · 25/12/2020 07:38

My kids (16 and 10) have been awake since 6, apparently, but have only just woken DH and I with a cuppa.

Ffsnosexallowed · 25/12/2020 07:44

I've been awake since 6, dds still fast asleep. For the past couple of years mil has woken them by ringing the doorbell before 7 (one year she sat in her car outside from 6...) This year is the first Christmas morning we'll spend alone with them...

DeathMetalMum · 25/12/2020 07:48

5.30 here, hearing I've got some double sided sticky tape! Managed to keep them in bed until 7 so I could feed the cat's before chaos.

Hotchocolatewithcream · 25/12/2020 07:49

Mine had me up at 2.
DD was awake until 12 so she’s had 2 hours sleep maximum.
They’ll all crash later.

GrapeLipBalm · 25/12/2020 07:50

My thirteen and sixteen year olds have probably got a good few hours of sleep left. I still do them stockings and Santa sacks and they still have chocolate advent calendars.

GrapeLipBalm · 25/12/2020 07:51

Heating up the house ready as it's 0 degrees outside

FourDecades · 25/12/2020 07:54

6am l hear a creak of DS1 bedroom door...and then my door open.... and he just stands there in the dark staring at me... l eventually relent and l get up.

He's 17yrs old...

ducksfizz · 25/12/2020 07:56

8am and still in bed SmileSmile 6 and 10

Clockstop · 25/12/2020 07:59

6:30 here but now opened every single present, all of which can't be played with downstairs, so she'll have to hide upstairs all day now!

daisypond · 25/12/2020 08:01

We keep stockings downstairs by the fireplace. My DC are older now. We have to wait till mid morning before they wake up.

missrks · 25/12/2020 08:05

12! Usually needs dragged out bed, up at 6am! Waaaah

MzHz · 25/12/2020 08:10

Teen was still up at 2 when I woke up to deliver the stockings. So I placed it at foot of his stairs and snuck it up at 7am.

I think he’ll be up in an hour or so... other stocking recipient is snuffling next to me. He kinda clocked it on a half asleep trip to the bathroom, but a bit of bustling by me and he just went back to sleep
