Ug! Scrummy 🤢. Cheeky drink. Drinkeypoohs. Wtf says valentime @Utterlyexhausted?

Can I add swallowing loudly to this list of words (which are sounds after all?). And breathing loudly. And eating like a donkey. Actually, this thread is making me realise I should probably spend some time alone.

Jenifirtree · 24/12/2020 20:04

A colleague regularly says alcawol.

‘You deserve it’ said to people on facebook when they’re having a meal out / having drinks / having a weekend away irrationally annoys me. Why do they deserve it? Why?!

PussyMalanga · 24/12/2020 20:06

Preggo.

Pregnant is an ugly enough word without making it worse!

bluebluezoo · 24/12/2020 20:09

Was/were used incorrectly.

We was going to the shop...

roratone · 24/12/2020 20:16

Any hyperbole at all

"Pinky" finger- errrgghhhhh
Tooth pronounced any way other than tewth.

partyatthepalace · 24/12/2020 20:19

Making Memories is vomit inducing

Toilet. Hate.

Corporate speak.

Logantrical · 24/12/2020 20:27

Curating and sourcing, when used in the context of Christmas food. It just sounds so pretentious.

Purplecatshopaholic · 24/12/2020 20:29

People who say asterix, when they mean asterisk. Asterix was a Gaul! Ahhhhhh. And breathe...

Pawsin · 24/12/2020 20:33

I'll 'learn' you, instead of teach. Likewise with borrow/lend. I think it's regional, but DP says it & it drives me up the wall Hmm

katiegoestoaldi · 24/12/2020 20:36

Brought instead of bought - sets my teeth on edge

Mizydoscape · 24/12/2020 20:39

Picky tea.

Used a lot this time of year. Makes me Xmas Envy - not envy

AnneTwackie · 24/12/2020 20:39

Bubs, bubba, mumma eww fuck off!

LawnFever · 24/12/2020 20:39

Hopical when they mean hospital

Normalcy when they mean normality and aren’t American, although even then it grates

Making memories, makes me want to vomit

Gotten, nope not a word

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 24/12/2020 20:40

‘I/We done that’. No, you did that.

katiegoestoaldi · 24/12/2020 20:41

Unpacking information

peapotter · 24/12/2020 20:42

Another vote for Myself

It’s everywhere at the moment. Even official letters from the school. I had to read up to check that I wasn’t wrong about it. (Obviously I’m wrong to get so worked up about it.)

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 24/12/2020 20:42

Fuming. I honestly just bloody hate that word...and it's used soooo often on MN.Xmas Angry

TroysMammy · 24/12/2020 20:44

My colleague in work, GP surgery, referring to urine as water. Passing water, are they walking over a bridge? Water sample - no it's piss. It sounds so twee.

MoonlightMedicine · 24/12/2020 20:47

Peeps for people
Hubster/hubby/wifey
Milf/dilf/cougar etc
A brew for a cup of tea
Yourself/myself used incorrectly in an attempt to sound professional
Trump for flatulence
Change a baby's bum for nappy changing

All of the above make me shudder and I don't honestly know why. I wish I wasn't such a pedant.

MoonlightMedicine · 24/12/2020 20:48

Oh also holibobs and famalam. Anything twee and made up.

wowfudge · 24/12/2020 20:50

Mixing up effect and affect.

Off of instead of from, although I think that is a regional thing in some areas.

MaryBoBary · 24/12/2020 20:55

@supportivemyarse
... A stonewashed jean... Shudder.

Nannewnannew · 24/12/2020 20:57

Pawsin oh yes, It’ll learn you really sets my teeth on edge. Another annoying one is “Can you borrow me some money?”
Also tender hooks instead of tenterhooks!

Marsis · 24/12/2020 20:58

Aloud when they mean allowed. ‘Thankyou’ so many people do this one even my phone knows it’s wrong so people must put concerted effort into it.

Nannewnannew · 24/12/2020 20:59

Another one! People saying “should of” instead of “ should have” 😬
