So I had great plans but now nic sturg has locked us down (tier 4) from Boxing Day DD and I will have our Christmas dinner with relatives (2) and then a v v quiet Boxing Day playing with all DD new toys and eating lots of bad food,it's for the best but it's slightly sad Christmas will be so different this year!Anyway what is everyone else doing Christmas Day/Boxing Day?

Very merry Christmas to all when it comes Xmas Smile

We will open stockings in my bed. (DC are 16 and 14 but still come in on Christmas morning). Then have breakfast, get dressed and open 1 present each (not necessarily in that order). Zoom church. Probably open another couple of presents, but I'm tempted to save the rest until boxing day.Grin Then Mum is picking us up to go to hers for Christmas Dinner etc . We are sleeping over at hers as we are a support bubble.

TBH other than Church being on zoom that's pretty much what we usually do.

Megan2018 · 22/12/2020 19:03

Muck out horse
Breakfast of smoked salmon an and dizz

Megan2018 · 22/12/2020 19:06

Sorry baby pressed post!

Breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast
First lot of Presents
Zoom call with more presents
Lunch
More presents and more zoom
Lots of fizz, films and toys with DD 15 months

Boxing Day will be odd as no meet to go to so mucking out again then probably a walk and lots of cheese!

Very quiet as just DH and DD-we usually host a crowd.

I’m in tier 4. There will be me, DH and one student child. The other young adult DC aren’t able to come, due to restrictions. Plus, our lodger now has to stay and not go a few miles away to her family.

eurochick · 22/12/2020 19:07

We are in a tier 4 area so it will be just the three of us plus many zoom calls. Our plans were pretty low key - seeing my parents on Xmas day and the bil and sil on Boxing Day - but that's all cancelled. It'll be the first time in my 44 years that I have spent Xmas day with my parents. And my husband I'd really missing his parents - they are overseas and we haven't seen them in a year.

Twospaniels · 22/12/2020 19:14

We’re in T3
Daughters live together nearby and they are coming on Christmas day morning for a distanced dog walk and present exchange outside. Then they will go back to their flat and make their own xmas dinner and husband and I will have our own xmas dinner a home. We will zoom with them in the evening for a chat and a quiz.
I was meant to go to my dad on boxing day but he is now in T4 so I can’t, thankfully my sister lives near him and she will see him on xmas day and boxing day. Mum is in a care home and dad will have a window visit with her on xmas day.
It’s been an awful year and a worse December in particular 😢

I hope you al enjoy your christmasses whatever form they take 🎅🏼

maddiemookins16mum · 22/12/2020 19:20

T4 here. My darling MIL moved in with us at the start of December (as soon as Lockdown ended) so she spend Christmas with us.
We’ll have Reindeer crumpets and toasted bagels for breakfast, nice coffee etc.
Open presents.
Prep dinner listening to Junior Choice on Radio 2.
Online Church service at 11am.
Sherry opened with nibbles.
Chill.
Dinner about 2.30/3 pm.
DH will wash and clear away everything.
Me, DD and MIL will retire to the lounge and relax (snooze).
Christmas pudding and cream during Call the Midwife.

Superstardjs · 22/12/2020 19:28

Pretty much the same as every year - eat and watch tv.

Dementedswan · 22/12/2020 19:34

I tend to wake up before everyone else, lie waiting impatiently then wake everyone Grin open stockings together in bed, dh goes down to check santa been, let dog out for a wee and put kettle on. Then downstairs, watch kids open santa gifts. Breakfast, play. Eat open tree gifts, eat play and repeat. We usually have up to 14 here but this year will be just us. Boxing day is traditionally games and lego building.

farawayplanet · 22/12/2020 19:44

Get up early and feed the cats.
Let the cats in the back garden.
Give one of the cats some medicine.
Clean up after the cats.
Do the cats litter trays.
Dh cooks the Xmas lunch.
Play with the cats.
Tidy up whilst the cats sleep.
More medicine for the cat.
Feed the cats.
Tidy their trays and areas ready for the next day.
Play with the cats some more.
Go to bed, with one cat who sleeps with me.

Xmas Day will revolve around the cats, just like every other day 😃

Whattodowiththedrunkensailor · 22/12/2020 20:04

Fellow Tier 4’er here. Will be just the three of us, not quite how we planned it but it’s for the best so we will enjoy our day and make the best of it all! We have a very excited 5 year old so it should still be magical and full of fun. Merry Christmas everyone!

Nowaynothappening · 22/12/2020 20:07

I spend most of Christmas Day in the kitchen tbh. Once the presents are opened I make breakfast although tbf it’s just oven baked croissants and pain au chocolat this year so pretty easy. After breakfast DC play and DH and I relax for a couple of hours then I start cooking dinner. It takes about 5 hours to complete because it’s a real feast Grin. We’re planning on watching the new Disney film Soul which is released on Christmas Day on Disney+. We play board games too.

Boxing Day is mostly spent tidying up. Never been huge fan of Boxing Day. Christmas Eve is my favourite.

Natsku · 22/12/2020 20:13

Pretty much the same as usual. I didn't think we were going to visit FIL but we are (we're not in the UK, the situation is very calm in my town), only change is we're not hiring a Father Christmas to bring the presents (instead DD is dressing as a bearded elf and "dropping off" the presents at the front door so my toddler can see them being dropped off).

So get up, stockings and a few presents, breakfast, I start cooking, pop over to FIL's, try and get DS to nap, eat, rest of the presents, sauna, treasure hunt for the last big present (although I might move that to earlier in the day if the children are bored) and then relax.

Zoinksalot · 22/12/2020 20:19

Tier 4 here was working over Christmas but been furloughed ... so Xmas day is being spent on my own in my uni accom as unfortunately I don't have family to go too

UnalliterativeGeorge · 22/12/2020 20:20

I'm going to the park. DH is a nurse and working all over Christmas so we've moved it to Christmas eve and so I'll be trying to wear out the DC as much as possible!

nancy75 · 22/12/2020 20:24

We were going to my parents but as we are in tier 4 will be at home.

To add to the fun, the element went in my oven yesterday so all I have working is the top (little) oven which the Turkey won’t fit in. So in Xmas day we will be cooking Turkey on the bbq! In the plus side DH is an Aussie so bbq is part of his dna.
If all else fails we have back up chicken Kievs!
Very much not the Xmas we were expecting but it’s a choice of make a joke of it or spend the day crying.😂😭😂

HailFairy · 22/12/2020 20:27

Very luckily we’re only tier 2 but we’d already agreed not to have my parents to stay at the beginning of December, so it will be just us. Sadly I’d already done the M&S food order so our Christmas will mostly be eating a lot of food! DC will be up early, stockings then breakfast, family zoom to open more presents, lots of playing with new toys. A walk & then late afternoon meal. Probably a bit of TV and zoom with friends in the evening.

Then Boxing Day we are meeting some friends for a walk (within tier 2 rules). And more eating!

Megan2018 · 22/12/2020 20:32

@nancy75 we had spatchcock turkey on the bbq once, was lovely! Enjoy Smile

PilatesPeach · 22/12/2020 20:33

on my own
tier 4
do a run
a couple dog walks
bottle of champagne
M&S lasagne

MrsHugsxx · 22/12/2020 21:18

Will get up with the kids and open before breakfast. Then family will visit for a couple of hours. Then we'll have dinner just me, DH and the kids. The kids will play with their new toys, play games and watch movies throughout the day. DH and I will have drinks in the evening once kids are in bed.

GlowingOrb · 22/12/2020 21:19

Presents, nice meal with DH and dd, watch some Christmas movies. Not much different than what we do most years.

jacqelinedaniels · 22/12/2020 21:27

Get up early and open presents, me, DH and DS. Then get ready and go to my parents (local) for bacon rolls and presents, keeping it short and sweet with windows open (tier 2 and we’ve been isolating). Then back home for dinner and fizz just our household, play with DS and watch something festive.

CarolinaWeeper · 22/12/2020 21:39

It will just be DH, two DC and I.

Children will wake up and open their stockings on our bed.
Zoom call with my DB in New Zealand.
Breakfast of smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels with bucks fizz for DH and I (OJ for the DC).
More presents
Prep lunch
More presents
Have lunch
Walk
Afternoon of playing games then TV in evening and turkey sandwiches for dinner, probably more video calls with family.

Boxing day we're planning going on a walk and having a hot food picnic with lots of party food!

vodkaredbullgirl · 22/12/2020 21:43

Get up late, have adult children
open presents
make xmas dinner
sleep after
then working a night shift

vodkaredbullgirl · 22/12/2020 21:43

oh and ring family
