Just that? I've got one present ready (photobook) but would like something else. No idea what though!

Here it is

What are you getting your 70+ year old parents this Christmas?
Tehmina23 · 21/12/2020 17:21

My Mum (71) is getting:

A turquoise v neck tunic jumper from Principles at Debenhams;
A black waterproof mascara from Clinique; &
Nivea Q10 plus vitamin C body lotion.

My Dad (72) is getting:

A black puffa liner gilet from Topman;
A pack of Tom Ford blue cotton hankies;
2 bottles of pale ale.

I originally intended to get the liner gilet for Dad from M&S but they'd sold out so Topman it had to be!

Tehmina23 · 21/12/2020 17:22

@Soontobe60 that throw is very clever!

TroysMammy · 21/12/2020 17:26

DM a sewing machine because she enjoyed using mine in the first lockdown and I quite selfishly don't want to lend it again, even though I don't use it much.
DF a bird groundfeeder and cage so only small birds can get in and the flaming pigeons can't.

Tehmina23 · 21/12/2020 17:27

Also I have my suspicions about the authenticity of dads Tom Ford hankies as I got the pack off eBay for a fiver; but M&S had sold out and Next were too expensive for hankies.

inappropriateraspberry · 21/12/2020 18:00

Dad is getting a password book as he can never remember them! And a desktop drum set - he's a big kid really and loves stuff like this.
Mum is getting a photo book (although delayed as Hermes has lost it 😡) and Dawn French's new book. I can read it afterwards 😆
It gets so hard when they have everything and don't want more 'stuff' for the house.

CoronaIsWatching · 21/12/2020 18:01

Ultrasonic cleaner
Toblerone
Gin

gabsdot45 · 21/12/2020 18:45

I got mine an advent calendar with a jar of artisan jam per day. I already gave it to them.

SunscreenCentral · 21/12/2020 19:02

Dad (81) subscription to BBC History magazine
And a local university hoodie (his request 😆 - he’s never worn a hoodie in his life)

Mum (71) set of new “naice” everyday wine glasses, an antique silver thimble and a little offering from the perfume parlour. Possibly a book too

The bulbs idea is genius, will try for those too

moglovesmincepies · 21/12/2020 19:10

Absolutely no idea.
Was going to do a voucher for a pub they love but as it's not likely they will open up anytime soon decided against it.
So far dm has a box of dates and Dsf a toblerone. Isolating now so can't get them anything else. Will think of something in the new year to get them properly.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/12/2020 19:20

Dhs parents: mum getting a personalised garden fork and trowel, dad getting an hmv voucher. My parents: a felting kit for mum and some books about bridge for dad. Plus if I can muster up the energy, a small hamper for the two mums with some homemade gin liqueur and some chutney and some toasted nuts but I'm struggling to dredge up the energy tbh. The gin is done but I'd need to make the rest

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/12/2020 19:25

I’ve done this embroidery for my mum, and we’ve sent my FIL a box of goodies from Fortnum and Mason. Sadly my dad and my MIL are no longer with us.

Reiningitin · 21/12/2020 19:33

I got them both a gift bag and have just put things like really nice chocolates, shower gel, bottle of Sherry, socks, perfume, framed photo of my kids inside. Unimaginative but it's all stuff they will use/like.

Serena1977 · 21/12/2020 20:13

Dm: shopping trolley, oodie, nice bath stuff, calendar, diary, chocs
Fil:magazine subscription
Mil: pjs, dressing gown

poorbuthappy · 21/12/2020 20:24

DM fresh flower arrangement and truffles.
DF wine. Good wine.

Dowser · 21/12/2020 21:32

I’m nearly 70
I’m getting a custom made Opal pendant

Firstimer703 · 21/12/2020 21:43

Vibrating alarm clock (my Dad has lost his hearing). And a pamper hamper.

Whatwouldnanado · 21/12/2020 22:16

Set of sketching pencils, paper etc and an adult paint by numbers for my dad 89 along with chocolate, bird food the new Lee Child's novel and bulbs to plant.

mrsfeatherbottom · 21/12/2020 22:18

I bought mine a Velvetiser!

Goldenbear · 21/12/2020 22:22

My Mum is quite a young 71 year old but as I am not seeing her a John Lewis voucher for clothes and just sent off some indulgent chocolates, a small LED light from Berts that hooks on to your handbag as she lives on a road with poor street lighting and she is worried about tripping on the huge roots of the trees bringing up the pavement. I also included a small Christmas tree from Scandinavian shop as she expected us to be spending Christmas with her and that we'd have a huge real tree but that's called off and I want her to have something. Main present voucher for clothes

DonkeyMcFluff · 21/12/2020 22:31

One of those cuddle cushions from Dunelm that you prop yourself up in bed with
Bubble bath, posh sponge and an individual bottle of fizz to drink in the bath

Slippers and dressing gown
Mug and socks

mamalovebird · 21/12/2020 22:32

I got all parents (69, 73, 76) a pair of Sheepers handmade mocassin slippers each, with the mums getting a selection of hand creams and crossword books and FIL getting his usual massive jar of sweets and a jigsaw. As we can't see them any more, we're also sending them all a bottle of champagne and some chocolates to enjoy on the day.

DelurkingAJ · 21/12/2020 22:40

Oooh, @Goldenbear the LED handbag light... do you have a link?

didireallysaythat · 21/12/2020 22:45

DM: nothing - we don't do gifts
Stepmum: homemade biscuits, home made gin, home made candle holder
MIL: usb hand warmer, seeds and selection of food from ocado/m&s (very unimaginative but I have to do gifts every year and really I've lost the will to do this).
