Nope

BogRollBOGOF · 19/12/2020 21:52

It's Christmas until 6th Jan, so yes. More of a gentle wind down past new year.

DonkeyMcFluff · 19/12/2020 21:55

Not really. Between Xmas and NYE we potter round the house eating too much and watching tv, maybe do some hobbies or in the olden days we visited relatives. 1st Jan is nice dinner with a bottle of great wine, then on the diet wagon from the 2nd!

Almostslimjim · 19/12/2020 23:25

Until 2nd Jan we watch Christmas films and do chrismassy stuff but not after that

BackforGood · 19/12/2020 23:38

Well, I consider 'christmas' to go on until 12th night, so no, I don't do stuff atfer Christmas, but yes, I do stuff after Christmas day itself.

Sparklingbrook · 19/12/2020 23:39

No, just finish the food off and put Christmas away once the 25th has come and gone.

RosieLemonade · 20/12/2020 06:52

No just seems strange after the main day.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 20/12/2020 06:53

We still watch Xmas films and eat junk till new year

doingitforthefrill · 20/12/2020 07:29

Nope. Call me Scrooge but I generally even take the decorations and tree down on Boxing Day. We gave a big lead up to Christmas Day where we bake, watch movies, do Christmas craft and go on a search to spot Christmas lights. So as soon as Christmas Day is over then all festive activities are over for us.

AuntieMarys · 20/12/2020 07:33

No. Tree gone by Jan 1st, and house full of fresh flowers

cautiouscovidity · 20/12/2020 07:40

We do. We celebrate until early Jan (usually cut a bit short of 12th night so we can get ready for the new school term). We don't start celebrating too early though so aren't all 'Christmassed out' by Boxing Day.

AuntieStella · 20/12/2020 07:42

Christmas ends at Twelfth Night, and I think that's long enough.

Sennetti · 20/12/2020 07:45

Christmas seems to start in September

Bored of it already so yes it comes down Boxing Day

What’s the point in 12th night?

KihoBebiluPute · 20/12/2020 07:46

There are 12 days of Christmas from 25th December till Epiphany. I try to keep the festive spirit going with special celebratiey activities dotted through the 12 days (though not every dayl but we don't do much before Christmas. At the moment and usually at this sort of time we are mostly quite low-key, more about preparing for Christmas rather than "doing" christmas yet and only doing a small number of celebratory activities if they have been scheduled for one of these days.

lovelemoncurd · 20/12/2020 07:51

Yep I drink, eat crap, watch Xmas films, slouch in pyjamas ( oh wait I've been doing that all year)!

Mummadeeze · 20/12/2020 08:09

I definitely would if I could up until New Year. 31st is my cut off.

thelegohooverer · 20/12/2020 08:13

Yes. In our house Christmas comes in waves.
From November we cosy up the house for winter.
Start of December we decorate, put up the tree and enjoy our advent calendars.
Closer to Christmas we make gifts, write cards and bake.
We start watching Christmas movies when the dc get holidays.
Christmas goodies don’t come out properly until dh gets his holidays, usually 23rd/24th.
Christmas Day.
Over the next few days we would normally meet up with family that we didn’t see, and exchange more gifts. Lots of eating, drinking and watching of movies, playing of board games.
Tree comes down traditionally on the 6th. And everything is packed away for another year. Settle back into cosy house and wait for Spring.

MrsWombat · 20/12/2020 09:14

Traditionally the 12 days of Christmas is when you celebrate. Not from September or advent like retailers seem to think. Grin We cut out the father Christmas stuff and concentrate on winter and lights and do hygge style activities. The Christmas tree goes up today, although we've had lights up for a while now.

Yes. We celebrate it until New year. We keep our tree up and have another Christmas dinner on New Years Day with family. On Boxing day we see family (not this year of course) and have another Christmas day. Has been this way ever since I was a child and how my parents celebrated as children. I've never understood people who pack up Christmas and their tree on boxing day! I love my tree up during NYE.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/12/2020 12:24

For us (my family) preparation for christmas starts with the frist of advent and ends on the 23rd, christmas starts on the 24th and ends on the 6th, when we will take the tree down.

Weirdfan · 20/12/2020 12:30

My favourite part of Christmas is the lazy days til new year, that's when we do all our Christmassy stuff, films, baking etc, it's too busy and stressful in the run up to enjoy it.

ShrikeAttack · 20/12/2020 12:49

I celebrate for the 12 days of Christmas. Special meal on Epiphany, then all done!

But Christmas doesn't really start until about now.

I always thought taking down the tree on Boxing Day was awful. I would have hated that as a child, we're still in complete Christmas mode then.
