What would you say the £2 is for?

I'd say including lunch. I gave DS £2 this morning. He's just rang saying he needs money putting into his account for his lunch and you pay for that separately.
I don't think the poster makes that point clear or am I just dim?

What would you say the £2 is for?

I would read that as it’s a £2 donation for the jumper and lunch is on offer to buy .

BabyGirlNumber2 · 17/12/2020 12:35

Yeah it’s confusing and ambiguous.

mumto2teenagers · 17/12/2020 12:38

I think it's clear that the £2 is for wearing the jumper, but would have made sense to include the cost of lunch on the flyer.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 17/12/2020 12:42

Considering it says "AND lunch" in capitals, then I could see how that would be misleading, but £2 for hristmas lunch and a donation would make me think it wasn't for both. If I wasn't really thinking about it properly, I would probably make the same mistake though.

longtompot · 17/12/2020 12:56

We didn't have Christmas jumper day when my three were at school, but they would bring home a letter about Christmas lunch and if we wanted them to have it, we had to pay beforehand. Going from that, J would say the £2 is a donation for wearing your own jumper, like when it's non uniform day and you have to pay.

Viviennemary · 17/12/2020 12:59

I'd say £2 for wearing the jumper. And then whatever the usual school lunch costs.

vinoandbrie · 17/12/2020 12:59

It’s not misleading, the £2 is the charity donation.

DataColour · 17/12/2020 13:03

It's the big green AND that makes it clear that it's two separate things.

sugarbum · 17/12/2020 13:09

I don't think you're dim OP but it is quite clear to me that a £2 donation is for wearing the Christmas jumper.

However that is possibly because thats what we do at our school, and therefore it wouldn't occur to me that it would be covering lunch too.

picklemewalnuts · 17/12/2020 13:11

At the bottom it specifies lunch order details to come later.

InTheLongGrass · 17/12/2020 13:18

It's very badly worded, bit the fact that school lunch costs more than £2 means they have to be separate events (and costs).

cherryblossomx3 · 17/12/2020 13:30

in fairness to you OP it is not the clearest. I don't think you are dim!

TartanLassie · 17/12/2020 13:35

£2 for wearing an Xmas jumper??? Wtf!!

Think that's taking the piss to be honest!

That's £8 if you've got 4 kids at school! At Christmas! Who thinks these things through??

£2 donation for wearing a jumper, I am totally gobsmacked and i work in the charity sector!

lurker69 · 17/12/2020 13:44

i would of guessed it was separate and put money in in case ..but £2 donation is a joke especially at the moment when people have lost their jobs and stuff! i know kids don't have to do it but it's hardly fair, a min of 50p would be more appropriate (totally gone off point i know)

Looneytune253 · 17/12/2020 13:48

I think you usually pay for Xmas lunch regardless (unless FSM) and then there's usually a donation for a jumper day for charity. I think you've got the wrong end of the stick.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 17/12/2020 13:49

Its not exactly clear.

(Incidentally, at my DDs Primary school, the Christmas Day £2 covers their Christmas lunch and that's the only money asked for. They wear their Christmas clothes)

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 17/12/2020 13:51

It doesn't help, I think I have aspergers (undiagnosed, but scored highly on online test).
I take things very literally and do need people do be explicit and not vague about things as I'm easily confused.

Most schools do their Christmas jumper day the same day as the school dinner. They usually ask you to sign up for school dinner though in advance so they can cater for those who don’t usually have school dinner.

The £2 is a donation for Save the Children in exchange for wearing a jumper.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 17/12/2020 14:19

Whilst I think it's pretty clear I can see how it could be easily misunderstood. It's a bit dire for a school to lack clarity in communication.

SquirtleSquad · 17/12/2020 14:21

I can see it both ways from that poster it's completely unclear! How much is a school dinner these days?

InTheLongGrass · 17/12/2020 14:27

Squirtle ours are £2.10 in primary, and £2.50 for mains/£3 for 2 courses in secondary.

Chloemol · 17/12/2020 14:29

It’s misleading but to me is two separate things
£2 donation for save the children Christmas jumper
And
Christmas lunch, which you pay for

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 17/12/2020 14:29

He usually takes a pack up.
Xmas lunch cost £2.30 but the minimum top up is £5.

So total cost for today, £16 Christmas Jumper, £2 donation and £5 top up (but actual cost £2.30) for lunch so £23 in total. Quite a lot of money when you're on a tight budget

£2 is donation to the charity been backed by the Jumper Day ..Save the Children
We did it last week at our school

But you didn't have to pay £16 for a jumper... My local fb is full of second hand Christmas jumpers for example
