God, I'm so tired. Anyone else?

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 11/12/2020 20:46

I am just knackered! I know I'm not the only one.

3 DC: 1 almost-6, and twins almost-3. Haven't had any proper time off work since Xmas 2019 - technically had 2w leave over the summer but had meetings and deadlines most days, covid stuff. Been getting to my desk for 7am-730 recently, full day on Zoom then home to do nursery run, bedtime, bit of cleaning and back on the laptop.

I just feel like the house is a tip and there is so much to do, but I am way too tired to actually do it.

Anyone else with flat batteries?

That sounds truly exhausting. Can you afford a cleaner for a couple of hours a week?

jingleballing · 11/12/2020 20:48

Me! 3 dc here too but sahm, I'm still bloody knackered though, I don't know where the day goes

pinkbalconyrailing · 11/12/2020 20:49

what does the dc dad do to contribute?

You're not alone!
I was a SAHM for 9 years now work part time and both are very wearing, albeit in different ways.
Kids will knacker you - hope you get to have some downtime over the weekend x

MrsJonesAndMe · 11/12/2020 20:52

Yes, utterly exhausted and overwhelmed. Just had a cry.

Have you got a partner who can pick up some of the house stuff or can you buy in help?

bloodywhitecat · 11/12/2020 20:56

Me. I am saying goodbye to my fosterling tomorrow as he goes to live with his new mummy and daddy, they are a perfect match for each other but I have still had sleepless nights lately wondering what he's going to make of it all (he's only one so doesn't understand). DP has been told he has months to live even with the chemo that starts on Christmas Eve so when I haven't been kept awake worrying about DFB (darling foster baby) I have been fretting over cancer, chemo and how I will live without DP.

Beecham · 11/12/2020 20:58

Yup me, 3 DC. WFH full-time. A ton of Xmas stuff to do and I haven't even got the housework basics covered. They want to make gingerbread houses this weekend so will have to muster energy and time for that.

The ages of your DC are harder than mine though, so I take my hat off to you. Have wine and an early night!

Beecham · 11/12/2020 20:59

@bloodywhitecat so sorry Flowers

@bloodywhitecatThanks

Todayisgood2 · 11/12/2020 22:51

Yep sane, full time job and 2 dc. Exhausted. We have splashed out on a cleaner as honestly neither of us have the energy or inclination at the end of the day. I'm barely coping with school lunches/ reading books/ uniform/snacks /good and job. Cleaner has made a massive e difference- highly recommend if possible.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 11/12/2020 23:02

Bloodywhitecat, I'm so sorry. I hope you can enjoy this Xmas.

DH is great, he's a PT SAHD and works 3 days per week too, does school drop offs so I can get in to work early. Does almost all cooking, weekly food shop, some laundry, helps at bedtime. I do very full time senior management job, pick ups, bedtimes, most cleaning, and life admin.

Phew!

I cried after the kids when to bed too. 6yo twins. Work 9-7pm. I loathe my work at the moment because everyone else is shirking. If I go in office im out of house 8-8. Have a great au pair who does all school runs and most cooking. But she doesnt sort uniforms, reading, homework. DH has super long working hours but very hands on and more physical energy than I have. I clean and cook on weekends - I find it strangely therapeutic as it's physical and mindless.

I'm very close to resigning...

Lightknight · 11/12/2020 23:54

And bedtimes, I felt very guilty today as I snapped out of exhaustion and said no stories straight to bed. Cue meltdowns and DH had to take over.

jessstan1 · 11/12/2020 23:55

Yes and I don't have young kids at home any more. Life is just like that sometimes but you'll have plenty of good days in the future.

Look after yourself.

Frownette · 12/12/2020 07:35

@bloodywhitecat good luck with seeing fosterling off. I remember about your husband, a friend also has postponed cancer appointment on 24th.

OP I bet the house isn't as bad as you think! Make sure you're eating well and tackle it bit by bit.

Yes I'm shattered as well and bedroom is a mess, you're not alone.

Blobby10 · 12/12/2020 07:47

Yep and I don’t have children or a husband to deal with! X it’s been a shitty and stressful year personally and professionally with no holiday from work apart from a couple of fridays when I was taking calls anyway, working longer days x current weather doesn’t help as it never seems to get light I'm

missyB1 · 12/12/2020 07:57

@bloodywhitecat so sorry for what you and dp are going through. Flowers

Yes I’m beyond exhausted. I work in a nursery with 2 year olds but I’m in my 50s and finding it physically very difficult these days. I have an 11 year old at home who needs lots of support with homework every night. Dh is NHS and overwhelmed at work. Sometimes life feels relentless doesn’t it?

frustrationcentral · 12/12/2020 08:17

@bloodywhitecat Thanks

MrsJonesAndMe · 12/12/2020 18:27

I hope it all went OK today for DFC @bloodywhitecat - that must be such a hard thing to do and I wish you and DP all the best Flowers

Bluewavescrashing · 12/12/2020 18:31

Yuh.

Full time teacher. Mother of 2.

This term has been beyond knackering. My class of 5 year olds are exhausted, so tired of sitting at tables in rows, so ready for a break. Lots of bugs going around despite handwashing 8 times a day because, guess what, we breathe the same air all day. Windows open but it's not enough. I've got a horrible cold and just feel beyond it. House is a state. Ugh.

blackcat86 · 12/12/2020 18:36

Can I join the shattered club please? I have a 2 year old, work 3 days pw in a busy ss job, have requalified and been launching a business. Days are either chasing after a very verbal high needs 2 year old, working in a job where people mostly hate you or trying to build a business I desperately believe in (and hope will give us a better quality of life) but which feels like wading through treacle in covid times. We were talking about TTC before all this but the current stress has put me off because I honestly feel like I'm barely holding on as it is.

ineedaholidaynow · 12/12/2020 18:40

It went really well we waved them off with a smile and a tear (I have sobbed but not on him or his new mummy and daddy), he is going to have an amazing life but it does feel funny to know he's no longer asleep, upstairs in his cot.
Bluewavescrashing · 12/12/2020 19:13

@blackcat86 what is yotr side business?
