Help!!! I’ve left it a bit late but Mumsnetters I need you. Just taken delivery of a Cadbury’s hamper from my brother in Australia. I need to send something back (pretty swiftly) my sil is difficult. Just for reference last year got them hotel chocolat hampers, suitably unimpressed, Charlotte Tilbury for Sil, not fussed! Budget £100 or less. I would spend more for fortnums but idk if the kids would benefit. Please help me

Can you send a lovely floral arrangement?
I just sent a Christmas arrangement to my cousin + husband in NZ using a local florist online (?)

doodlyfiddly · 09/12/2020 16:21

Is there anything you can arrange online from within Australia itself? The postal service is not the best to Australia normally, but we sent cards a month ago and they are still not there - I think they may be quarantining post from some countries?

hesaidshesaidwhat · 09/12/2020 16:27

Where do they live? Do you know the local stores/florists? Do you know where they eat out/have a coffee? You could call these places directly and organise gift cards to be sent?

Otherwise how about David Jones? They have free delivery until 15th December.

Send them some Easter eggs Grin

Mylittlepony374 · 09/12/2020 17:05

Peter Alexander Christmas PJs for the kids? I send my nephew's them every year and they love them.
Otherwise PPs David Jones suggestion is good.

rococopops · 09/12/2020 23:13

Thanks all Smile @LutinDeSapin Easter eggs you say?!? I like the idea of pj’s for the kids and some sort of voucher for the adults. They’ve just got a puppy too so might buy some bits for her too

Hi, I'm in Aus. The postal service here right now is horrendous. I highly recommend using a shop/service local to them who will deliver (eg a nice food place if doing a food hamper or a local winery to delivery wines). Can you tell us where in Aus they are and we can suggest? Many areas are near wine regions and you could do a mixed dozen / half dozen from a local winery if they are into wine. Or a restaurant voucher for somewhere nice close to them if you have any ideas (or let us know the area and someone may be able to make a suggestion).

I'm in Australia and agree you really need to get something delivered locally. And even then for some places last posting day is tomorrow! You have practically zero chance of getting a delivery from the UK hear before Xmas.

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 10/12/2020 01:25

here not hear!

Alexindiamondarmour · 10/12/2020 04:31

You could check if there is a deli near their home that is local to them and if they would do a hamper of nice cheeses and fruit. The fruit at the moment is beautiful - actually you could just send them a tray of mangoes and cherries if they like those from their local fruit shop?

rococopops · 11/12/2020 12:13

Thanks all, they are in Berwick outside of Melbourne. I have visited but can’t remember anywhere specific and things may have changed since I visited

An Oz-based family member has requested a sand-free towel for the beach. I think it's a really fun gift because it sounds so aAustralian! Tesselate is the brand.

pjani · 11/12/2020 12:23

Oh and I bought another family member some towels with cool.designs from an aboriginal artist a while back. www.winstonwalford.com.au/product-category/towels/ I seem towel obsessed now.

rococopops · 11/12/2020 13:15

@pjani no judgement. I am here for a sand free towel though 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

My brother and SIL live in Sydney.

I’ve just sent them an e gift card from bestgiftcards.com.au for restaurants. No children to buy for though.

scoobiedoobiedoo · 11/12/2020 16:03

Dan Murphys do wine and chocolate hampers, I have used them many times for presents for my parents. My mum lives near Berwick.

aprilshowers2015 · 12/12/2020 08:28

I used to live in Berwick! Not much going on there other than the best chicken shop in the world!
Nearby Narre Warren has a Westfield shopping centre called Fountain Gate, maybe look there for inspo?

mychickensnameissmithy · 12/12/2020 08:29

I sent Christmas pyjamas , jigsaws and Christmas mugs via M&S, free delivery over a certain amount and I believe still guaranteed delivery before Christmas, I sent the same to both USA and Australia

mychickensnameissmithy · 12/12/2020 08:30
